I thought 'Nothing Like This' was future garage?

Lastly, speaking of tropical house, what has happened to the David Guetta and Zara Larsson track, I thought Zara Larsson being in it would have helped it stay in itunes top 40 at least or near but it has sunk to #89

'Nothing Like This' is quite weird in that the verses make it sound like garage mixed with house but then it has a deep house drop. I guess you could be right.

The new Guetta track's sadly got quite a poor reception and not much airplay yet so I doubt it'll be a huge hit. It being the Euro Cup anthem should help it go top 40 though.

Its not the first Guetta track to get a bad reception though, I remember Shot You Down did but that still did well enough.

Its just weird that more people are downloading an 18 week old Zara Larsson track 'Lush Life' than her new track. I guess Capital FMs stagnant playist is to blame, although Lush Life is the 'selfie generation' anthem with the lyrics and instagrammy video :puke2:

But thinking about the current pan European tropical house popularity it has also made me think about how important a track Edward Maya's Stereo Love was back in 2010.

'I hate u, I love u' isn't really my thing, I find songs that like really dull. I can see why its doing well though, those types of songs always seem to
That 'I hate u, I love u' song is one of the worst of the year  Completely terrible.

But I suppose todays selfie generation always go for pop songs that are cute and kitch like i hate u i love u. Because the lyrics are relevant to a lot of young people's petty concerns like Lush Life by Zara Larsson was and the music is a soft cutesy form of R&B in i hate you i love u.

Sex by cheat codes and kriss kross amsterdam is bad too in my opinion just a cover of an old song and a generic future bass drop. Very dull indeed.

Thank goodness for Meghan Trainors 'No' recently that is the type of edgier less cutesy R&B like from the early 2000s as has been mentioned already that we need.

I'm less than enthused atbout that Gnash track looking set to do well too.

Nice massive picture of that woman in tights

Yes it is extremely generic that gnash song and far too cutesy. It reminds me too much of cheesy 2009 R&B, T Shirt by Shontelle and stuff like that which I never liked. :puke2:

It's Carly Rae, of course!

Thought so but was afraid I was wrong. Carly Rae has nice knees  Was talking earlier about funky house, Call Me Maybe is one of the best examples of the genre. We need more funky violins in dance music now like in Call Me Maybe.

I really like I Hate U I Love U, nice little song. I think it will be one of those I will grow sick of when its everywhere though!
Hmm it's grown on me a little bit but I'm really not looking forward to this being everywhere :( it reminds me of the Frankie/Eamon song for some reason  even though it features a guy and girl on this. Maybe it's the cringey lyrical content I don't know

How is 'Call Me Maybe' funky house? To my ears it's just pop

Because of those string samples which are very Shapeshifters/Freemasons/Kove ft Melissa Steel.

And also I think it has enough bpm to be a house song too but I am not sure.

The swearing in it by Gnash (I refuse to spell his name without a starting capital letter) <_< is unnecessary like the Frankie/Eamon tracks.

To me it just sounds like a poor attempt by the singers to mimic Rihanna and Drake.

For me though The 'Sex' track is worse, just a cover of an old song with a drop with those same annoying high pitched voices that are everywhere in popular dance music at the minute. For me any track with pitched voices is unlistenable - Galantis and Sigala - I am talking about you too  Ever since Philip George - Wish you were mine we have had an epidemic of pitched voices in dance music. And the low pitched deep house ones are just as annoying, real voices are the best. I did like Scooter back in the day because they were the first to use them, but now it is annoying and unoriginal.

By the way why did Craig David put the same harsh drop/bassline in 'One More Time' as 'When the Bassline Drops' in the chorus. That just ruins the song, UK garage never had that sort of harsh drop or bassline in it originally, it was more subtle and easy listening.
