No problem, a little off topic conversation is never a problem ;)

When I was a teenager I was watching a lot on MTV the Party Zone (2 hours of dance songs) and they were playing only electronic songs. But the variety of songs were really wide, from Prodigy to Snap, from Alice Deejay to Orbital there were everything :D

I am 24 so i dont remember that time (the late 90s), the dance videos I was watching were from The Box c.2005 . I remember seeing this one at the same time as it was recorded from. Duck Sauce before Duck Sauce :) I don't want to spam by posting the full size video but here it is anyway. Look at the classic tunes along the bottom of the screen (not all dance though)!

But there was lots of variety at this time too as well.

I don't even remember that Groove Cutters song :o

That must've been a flop?

You were born in 1991 or 1992 and you don't remember the late 90's? :o

What's up with your memory Jake "The Snake" Roberts?

Yes. Sadly it was, it only reached number 33. Maybe because it was much more dance sounding than the rest of the 80s remixes.

Strange I also remember High With Emotion by Thomas Falke and that fell a long way short of the top 40.

I do remember it, but I just remember jangle pop (we need a jangle pop revival!) and the Manic Street Preachers - Design For Life. I wasn't much of a fan of the techno pop form of dance that was around at that time like Alice Deejay or Eiffel 65, although I do remember it. I did like Sonique though :) But I never liked UK garage because it sounded sad to me at that time.

I don't remember well but at that time there were a couple of similar sounding songs, maybe that caused its flop?

Groove Cutters got a fair bit of radio play but got completely lost in the huge 80s-looped house rush at the time. Song was ok but the video is typical "Sod the song, check out the hot women!!" material from the time.

Also there were tons of new entries in 2005, if you look back at the official chart archive. Weird because sales were low.

Another #38 dance flop I remember from that time

I think you mean 'High Again'. That was a proper CHOON too, didn't realise it flopped so much.

It wasn't all looped 80s house in dance music at that time, though. Terrible video though i admit:

Edit: Sorry for posting twice. There was also a looped house rush using old songs in 2015 (Philip George, Joe Stone, Tough Love, Sigala).

by the way, we do have a dance music forum, maybe continue the discussion here? ^_^

Sorry :) To put it back into modern chart relevancy, it is seems that some of the disco influence in dance music in 2005 is back now as shown by tracks like the Clean Bandit, Sigma and new Sigala tracks.

Back to the iTunes thread and what is that DJ Kenno thing anyway on Kworb?

EDIT: Go on DJ Kenno! Just when we were talking about remixes of old songs on the thread!

WTF, just checked this, it's that DJ Kenno song. What's this actually? :o

it's a song that's gone viral, football-related, a Wigan fan made a football chant that pays homage to this player Will Griggs.

from wiki:

Kennedy's chant adapts the 90s pop song 'Freed from Desire' by Gala, and has been wholeheartedly adopted by Wigan faithful.

The song adapts the lyrics from "freed from desire, mind and senses purified," to "Will Griggs on fire, your defence is terrified!"

I had that feeling it was football related
