Hello! Welcome to the very first edition of the Pop Forum Song Contest! Myself, Tim and Liam are delighted to announce this new and fun way for all you lovers of pop music to share and discover songs that you may not have heard or realised existed.

In a similar nature to other song contests across the site, this will be of a similar nature to the real life Eurovision Song Contest. Each member will be asked to confirm a song via PM which fits in with the theme of the contest. (This will be explained later on in this opening post.) Once the confirmation period closes, all the songs will be shuffled and put in a random running order. To keep things interesting, the names of the posters who sent the songs will be kept anonymous. When it comes to voting, the Eurovision 12 point system will be used

I will take this time to remind you that you cannot vote for yourself. If you enter but fail to vote, you will receive a deduction from your over all score.

Now, to make this more interesting, this months theme will be Power Ballads. We want to hear emotional songs with meaningful lyrics that are of course, perfectly pop. The rules for what type of songs you can enter are below, and remember, the more unknown, the less chance of getting a veto.

1. The song must not have reached the top 10 in the UK chart
2. The Artist must not have an Artist Forum on Buzzjack
3. Any song that we feel is giving other songs an unfair advantage (eg, Sales) or somewhat fits the veto rules (popular on the forum) will still be vetoed
4. Album tracks are welcomed and encouraged
5. The artist doesn't need to be known, if you have a song that fits the theme of the contest then feel free to send it.
6. An artist will only get one entry per contest, so first come first served

Now finally, this will not be a monthly contest. It will only happen a few times a year which makes it more exciting.

There is a PRIZE for the winner of the contest. I have picked 5 of my favourite Albums that will be sent to the person who wins the contest. I know everyone loves getting free stuff so hopefully this will encourage you all to send the best of the best and make this a real nail biting contest!

There will be songs that will be allowed in, but if you try to send a song that charted at like #13 that has been certified Platinum and has a huge presence on the forum, then we might decided not to allow it in the contest, if that makes sense :lol:

Entered! Artist is cheap but they have no AF/it only charted at #175 in the U.K. This song is just a beauty and the only power ballad to come to mind that I love that wasn't a chart hit here. :wub:

I'm kinda annoyed because I thought I'd find an entry really easily for this. But nope. The main power ballads I could think of went on to be huge hits/or by artists with huge followings her on BJ :lol: So went for a song which criminally under performed in the UK! :drama:
