If people don't like Drake being #1, don't stream the song. Simple

I'm sure the people who don't like Drake being #1 are already doing that.

G'won Drake, slay'em :cheer:

Streaming keeping Cheat Codes out of the top 10 and Beyoncé came close to being top 10 on sales while missing the top 40 entirely

Songs with 9 weeks at #1 (consecutively)

Drake ft. Kyla “One Dance” [2016]

Gnarls Barkley “Crazy” [2006]

Frankie Goes To Hollywood “Two Tribes” [1984]

Wings “Mull Of Kintyre/Girls' School” [1977]

Queen “Bohemian Rhapsody” [1975]

Paul Anka “Diana” [1957]

Eddie Calvert “Oh Mein Papa” [1955]

Frankie Laine “I Believe” [1953]*

Al Martino “Here In My Heart” [1952]

*18 weeks in total at #1

How is it possible first to places occupied by a song that:

1. no one heard

2. song is only partially played?

It is kind of virtual reality?

BTW why do artist/companies ban youtube screening? Is is own goal for them clip is always kind of promotion of CD/concert and still they take care to limit the audience?

This is stupid

This is stupid

To get people to listen to it on Spotify, Apple Music, etc. so that they get more chart-eligible streams.

It's working well too, Drake's One Dance isn't on YouTube at all and he's spending his ninth week at #1. Also Calvin's new song is only on YouTube in a 90 second form. I imagine it'll only become more common for big artists to not put their music on YouTube for the first few weeks/months of its chart life.

that is a stupid strategy long term

less people will buy concert tickets, less people will buy the CD

a song itself is an ad of artist/CD so it is like TV companies limit adds :)

ridiculous

and people will run away to free alternatives they vote with their legs ultimately artist will lose his popularity and will pay for this much more

Little Mix have spent 7 weeks inside the top 20 and all 7 are at a different position *.* just need numbers 16, 17 and 20! All possible for next week (although I doubt the former 2 at least)
Surreal that One Dance is such a big hit when no-one anywhere seems to be stanning for it. It's just...there.

I do think that "the ladz" are stanning Drake right now as much as Buzzjack stan a big female popstar though, see also Justin Bieber remaining top 10 for ages because of his big teenage fanbase.

It's true though, I've heard nobody IRL even talk about it or mention it. The most I've seen is one person Snapchating a video of them dancing to it. It doesn't feel like it's made the appropriate cultural impact for a 9 week number one.
BTW the last time we had just 2 #1’s in a 13 week (quarter of a year) period was 1994 with whigfield (4) taking over from wet wet wet (15)~
Probably the only 9 week #1 where I haven't heard it at all this week.

no one heard this song mate

looks like empty place has been booked someone made a payment to OCC to reserve number one for a few weeks

Incredible

I'd hardly go that far. Plenty of people I know love this song & I hear it loads, but of course it's very much dependent on what circles you're in!

Not in agreement of this "doesn't deserve a long run" statement either. Did Umbrella deserve all those weeks at #1 on such weak sales? Like I have said before you only have to beat what's in front of you whatever the current climate & Drake has done that for 9 weeks in a row.
