By the letter of the law, that shouldn't have been a penalty. It has to be deliberate, he just jumped clumsily. Mind you, I've never bought into that specific description myself & had no qualms with it being awarded.

I thought we would have more cutting edge at times but to their credit they did defend very well throughout most of the match. It was good to see some urgency to get a result in the latter stages, similar to against Boro & I think a draw was a fair result. Top 4 still very much within sight with our next few fixtures.

That City result though wow, puts some perspective on our own 4-0 demolition earlier in the year, at least that was to the league leaders.

Pogbas handball??

It was an obvious pen mate he went up and instead of heading the ball away got it away by using a hand!!

It's funny to see that there are some Liverpool fans celebrating this result on Manchester United fan forums/YouTube channels , why on earth is this something to celebrate? today has shown once again that the league is going to Chelsea this season, it's a battle for 2nd-4th now.

It's a bit of a squandered opportunity for Man United but a draw doesn't do too much harm for our top 4 prospects and I can still smile at least at Manchester City getting battered by Everton today.

It's a decent point, OT is prob the hardest ground for any premiership team to visit IMO ESP for Liverpool and with the team we had to play and the run yous are on it was good to get a point!

The Man City squad that Pellegrini left has to be one of the worst squads of a big side in recent years, rarely do you see a squad in such dire need of a complete overhaul. Far too many players that have been there years and are past their peak, far too many signings made during the previous four years that just haven't been up to the required standard. Pellegrini successes: de Bruyne, Fernandinho (but overpriced and old), Sterling maybe but not yet, Sagna considering he was free, Otamendi isn't bad but hardly good and was massively overpriced. Failures: Negredo, Jovetic, Navas, Fernando, Delph, Mangala, Bony. Money spunked up the wall on utter dross.

Guardiola's problem is that he seems to have tried to revamp the wrong areas. A couple of full-backs should have been a massive priority and he's persisted with has-beens whilst so few of his signings have made sense, he had about 7 players worth building around, mainly forward players but thay was then what he signed most of. Nolito cheap and has done well but doesn't address the old squad problem, Sane and Jesus signed for huge fees and all three in position where they have the most talent, Bravo is woeful (not saying replacing Hart was in any way a bad decision, there's no chance he'd be able to play how Pep wants), Gundogan injury prone, just been injured long-term and is now again. And then Stones...

It' a huge job for Guardiola, at the moment he's not doing as well as should be expected, but I don't think he's failing anywhere near as badly as is made out.

This. Pundits have been carping on since 2014 that City's squad is the best in the league, but you can't get away with having all your starting full backs and central midfielders over 30. If you'd told Guardiola at the start of the season that he'd be starting a game at Goodison with Touré and Zabaleta as his midfield pairing he'd have had palpitations, he's simply upgraded the wrong half of the team.

They should promote Maffeo at right back and put in a bid for Rodriguez at Wolfsburg. Otamendi and Stones aren't a good pairing but that will probably have to wait until the summer unless Kompany can get fit.

It doesn't help that Stones wasn't an upgrade in any way. Especially for the absolute joke of a fee that they paid for him.

Louis Van Gaal has retired from coaching after a 26 year career. The job at United was the straw that broke the camel's back I guess

Because a draw away from home to a top six team is a good result, a draw at home to a top six team is a disappointment, and it's Liverpool who should be celebrating that point if anyone is. Quite simple really!

Let's see if Klopp defends his team's tactics in the last 15 minutes of that match then.

Terrible from us. Fair props to Swansea. I think the fans, players just thought we would turn up and win today. Some abysmal defending coupled with a midfield that could not pass to save their lives. Meh is my thoughts right now. Luckily I'm really hungover to care too much.

Congratulations to Wayne Rooney on breaking Bobby Charlton's goal scoring record. It's a shame that it couldn't be the winning goal in the match against Stoke but it's still a fantastic achievement for Rooney none the less. It was a good free kick as well!

Sensational achievement, the only plus from that performance but what a BIG plus.

Yeah a winner in the same minute last weekend at OT would have been preferable!

Cracker of a free kick. Dunno where he's been hiding that but would have been nice to have seen that sooner!

Missing Carrick in the middle, Herrera had to play too deeply today and it hurt us going forwards. Baffled by the choice to bring off Mkhitaryan for Lingard - I'd have hooked Smalling personally who had another poor game. Yet again wasteful in front of goal.

Missed Rojo today, never thought I'd say that, and I hope Côte d'Ivoire crash out of AFCON ASAP.

Was a cracker of a free kick by Rooney is right, and to have Sir Bobby Charlton in the stands to see it was nice, too, I think...

Was pleasantly surprised with Swansea's win Saturday.....too bad I didn't pick them for the win as is my habit....

Oh the drama of that Arsenal game. The red card! The 93rd minute penalty! The 98th minute penalty! The ref actually making the right call on all three! Amazing.

9th red card in three seasons for Xhaka.

I have a horrible feeling that Leicester City could go down.

Well one couldn't say they wouldn't deserve it, heads still stuck in last season, they need to wake up soon. I think they'll improve once AFCON is over & they get their best players back.

I really hope Boro go down though, they've brought absolutely nothing but dull football to the league.

Sad news about Mason, hope he pulls through!

I don't see Leicester going down.

Swansea, Hull, Crystal Palace, Sunderland (Unfortunately) and Watford are all worse.

I think it will be three from those five to go down. Middlesbrough could get sucked into it as well.

Arsenal's penalty shouldn't have been given as Koscielny was offside and Hull were very unlucky not to get a penalty so both Arsenal and Chelsea got lucky!!

I hope Ryan Mason makes a full recovery

Fair play to Swansea who kept going and got a result which I did not see coming

Its so frustrating watching United play atm..shame they couldn't get the three points and get even closer to the top four! What a free kick to make Rooney top United goal scorer though :)
