June 5, 20241 yr I haven't started series 13 yet but Chris Ramsey (based on just seeing their introductions in episode 1) seems the only good pick, but that's probably just me being judgmental based on familiarity.

Ardal, Bridget and Judie are good value and Chris has some great moments too

June 10, 20241 yr How I'd rank Series: Incredible, must view: 2, 3, 7, 9, 13 Great: 1, 4, 11, 14, 15 Good: 6, 12, 16, 17 Meh: 5, 8, 10 All time top 5 contestansts: 1. Mike Wozniak 2. Paul Chowdhry 3. Rhod Gilbert 4. John Kearns 5. James Acaster
June 10, 20241 yr Ugh this was tough… 01 = Series 04 – I think it’s my most watched series; Mel, Noel and Joe are great, Hugh is very good value too. 02 = Series 16 – A near perfect series, Lucy at times is a bit off – however the Sue’s, Julian and Sam are all great. The running ‘Rada’ joke and Julian’s remarks to Alex are highlights. ‘Portcullis!’ 03 = Series 07 – Another near perfect line-up. Rhod used to grate, but he’s grown on me a lot over the years. Bosh! 04 = Series 09 – Ed and David, the one jetting breast mermaid water feature, Ed sleeping with a chickpea… so many funny moments. 05 = Series 14 – I hadn’t heard of John Kearns before the series, but he’s hilarious -Dara and Fern’s obvious annoyance with him during the team tasks was great. Sara and Dara were way ahead of the rest, but everyone gave something. 06 = Series 05 – Bob and Sally are near flawless in this, Nish and Mark’s song at the end never fails to amaze me either. 07 = Series 13 – I think this loses it a bit in the last 2/3 eps, but Chris, Ardal, Bridget and Judi are great at points. Sophie has her moments but doesn’t do that much that stands out. 08 = Series 12 – A great line-up 09 = Series 10 – I know Daisy comes in for a fair amount of stick, but I do think this series works despite the Covid restrictions. Katharine is hilariously bad, Mawaan is great and I thought Johnny worked extremely well on the show. 10 = Series 02 – A good line-up – could do with being longer. 11 = Series 15 – Ivo, Frankie and Jenny really pull this series up. Mae was extremely lucky that a number of decisions went their way. 12 = Series 03 – Rob is great. Paul grates. 13 = Series 17 – Nick and Sophie were obvious stand outs, kind of ruined a bit by the runaway winner. 14 = Series 01 – A Good start overall, but other series’ are just better. 15 = Series 06 – Liza is fantastic, but overall the series is a little flat. 16 = Series 08 – I love Lou and Iain’s frustration is funny; especially in the team tasks… but I don’t think the mix really works. 17 = Series 11 – Just doesn’t really hit things right. Mike is great and Lee and Sarah are ok. Charlotte is very quiet and I just cannot stand Jamali. Maybe if there was an audience there it would work better? Top 10 Contestants (subject to continual change) 01. Mel Giedroyc 02. Bob Mortimer 03. Sally Phillips 04. James Acaster 05. Julian Clary 06. Ivo Graham 07. Ardal O’Hanlon 08. John Kearns 09. Ed Gamble 10. Kerry Godliman
June 10, 20241 yr No Way! Not a fan of Sophie? :o I think she's been great entertainment throughout the series! Obviously in the studio Chris and Judi dominate quite a lot, but in the tasks I feel like Sophie really shines and has some hilarious moments.

Obviously in the studio Chris and Judi dominate quite a lot, but in the tasks I feel like Sophie really shines and has some hilarious moments. The no-way was just in reference to Chris in the Shoe task :D I didn’t mind Sophie but didn’t think she was that good or did anything that amazing or memorable. She was someone who came in and got it done. Which isn’t a bad thing, but I think she was probably the least interesting in that Series. Although her growing anger towards Alex was amusing :D Chris and the Sausage machine thing and the Shoe task are my favourite moments of the series. Also Alex getting infuriated with Bridget is also great. Whereabouts in there series are you up to? Edited June 10, 20241 yr by ElectroBoy

I didn't even pick up on that despite finding it hilarious lmao I'm up to episode 9 now so almost finished the series! Have to agree the moment Alex got irritated by Bridget was hilarious
June 12, 20241 yr Onto series 15 now (hoping to be surprised by Frankie Boyle because I cannot abide him at all). Series 14 was great, absolutely loved Munya and Sarah  and Dara was entertaining for the most part too. But my god, John was just... there? and Fern was another one that just looked like she had a great time during the tasks but when it came to the studio could not be arsed whatsoever.
June 13, 20241 yr Fern was another one that just looked like she had a great time during the tasks but when it came to the studio could not be arsed whatsoever. She's autistic and mentioned that she normally feels uncomfortable in studio settings. Taskmaster was the exception when it comes to the TV things she's done, at least in terms of the actual tasks.
June 13, 20241 yr She's autistic and mentioned that she normally feels uncomfortable in studio settings. Taskmaster was the exception when it comes to the TV things she's done, at least in terms of the actual tasks. That makes a lot of sense then! I did pick up on quite a few times where they were all laughing away and she wasn’t and looked visibly uncomfortable or disinterested. Thanks for clarifying!
June 13, 20241 yr Ah so you've finished 13 and now 14! I think part of my meh-ness about Sophie is the fact she won :D (couldn't really say that before as you hadn't seen the end). She was good and got on with things - but anything creative etc she seemed to lack quite heavily (barring the first week 'battle'). But then when it came to things like the concrete mixer tasks and a few of the other creatives ones she was just very dull. She was kind of overshadowed by the others - but I guess she was consistent. Chris meanwhile peaked early, then around episode 8? He had a super duff episode and put himself out of contention. 14 is great; a complete 2 horse race between Sarah and Dara. Fern, Munya and John were all great too for very different reasons. John in the team tasks, especially during and all the ones after the task he sabotaged were so funny. Especially as Fern and Dara clearly were frustrated and annoyed with him :D I had similar reservations about Frankie... he works well on the show though. Ivo and Jenny are my faves that series - Jenny is chaos!

Ivo and Jenny are my faves that series - Jenny is chaos! It was slightly disappointing that Chris did kind of just plateau for the rest of the series after a really strong start, but he's still absolutely hilarious and one of my favourite comedians so I'm glad he's appeared on the show! I've just finished series 15 and Frankie really was a revelation. His wit was unmatched, and although (again!!) it looked like at times he couldn't be bothered being there in the studio, during the tasks (particularly the team ones with Ivo ) he was amazing, and when he did add anything in the studio it was always hilarious. A great contestant. Jenny Eclair was absolutely fabulous too and had me in stitches for most of the series. Kiell felt a bit too competitive in an off-putting way so I could never really find myself liking him tbh, and I only really know him as Johnny's boss from Friday Night Dinner. Besides seeing him in that, he didn't really do much to wow me here. Mae... more like Meh.

Yeah that was my feelings for Mae too; they had a couple of odd decisions made in their favour by Greg which shouldn't have been allowed. Then there was some dubious double points in the team tasks too. Kiell I wasn't a fan off on first watch, but I actually warmed to him more when I re-watched it. Jenny and Ivo were the highlights though. The Ivo/ Frankie team tasks too were a big highlight - especially the looking for the spoons in the high-pitched voices. And you're onto Series 16 next :D Defo one of my favourite series! Edited June 17, 20241 yr by ElectroBoy
June 19, 20241 yr I loved Mae, and was rooting for them to win, but I loved them all in that series. To be honest, there’s very few contestants I haven’t enjoyed. Rhod sticks out as being one I expected to love but actually got irritated by, despite me usually enjoying him on shows. He used Alex too much for the tasks imo - although he did also have some moments of genius too. I didn’t love Morgana either, although I did mellow towards her as the series progressed.
June 19, 20241 yr I'm halfway through series 16 now and this is probably the most cohesive cast they've had in quite a few series now (in terms of all of them being just as brilliant as each other). Lucy is the only one I'm not 100% on, but that's mostly just because sometimes she's too stupid and it feels forced for TV. :kink:
