Who do you like other than your country in terms of international football?

I'm a fan of Finland and Chile and I do like a bit of Turkey too.

You?

Always liked Switzerland and Croatia (must be the red and white) and I always find myself cheering on the Italians, but I don't know why.

Iceland (long before EURO 2016)

Uzbekistan (my first non-USA team)

Hungary

Albania

Cape Verde Islands

Paraguay (in the 2010 WC was hugely rooting for them there)

Finland (in that they need to finally get to a major one of these days, but I guess that's partly them being one of my favourite countries anyway, I'm quite well-disposed to all Nordic teams like that)

Costa Rica, Japan and Ghana are all pretty high up my list. And Chile have been fantastic to watch in all the recent tournaments I've seen them in so I guess them too.

@Iz~, good to see you like Finland! They play such great football, I hope they reach the World Cup.

Germany as it's my country of birth.

I say other, it's the only one I support because I can't bring myself to support the home nations.

Oh yes, Germany as well. Very much 100% for them out of the traditionally 'big nations', partially because of ancestry but I like their style a lot also.

The 3 main teams from my parental heritage....

France

Germany

Poland

And also the following, since I'm told I have ancestry there also....

Ireland

Scotland

And, with their run in Euro 2016....

Wales

I would say Chile and Colombia with their respective performances from the Confederations Cup and the 2014 World Cup.

Teams I have a soft spot for include:

Croatia

Chile

Japan

Turkey

Poland (family links there)

An African country at the World Cup (in 2014 it was Algeria)

Like watching Argentina too, especially in 2006 and 2010.

If you are mentioning tournaments from the past where I have supported them, it would be:

Senegal (World Cup 2002)

Greece (Euro 2004)

Italy (World Cup 2006)

Turkey (Euro 2008)

Ghana (World Cup 2010)

Spain (Euro 2012)

Colombia (World Cup 2014)

Iceland (Euro 2016)

Columbia were class in the last World Cup!

My dad compared Chile and Colombia from 2014 to Romania and Bulgaria in USA 94 and I can see where he's coming from. All were entertaining loose cannons! Hope Chile and Colombia can be as good next year.

I think Chile could go as far at the Quarter final in next year's World Cup as they have a good enough squad at the moment and it includes big name players such as Sanchez & Vidal. Hopefully there will be at least a few countries that have never qualified for a World Cup before that will take part next year.
