This is a bad dream. I'm convinced of this fact. It has to be a bad dream. This can't be reality.

I mean we can't have ended up with someone LESS capable in charge of the treasury.

What are you on about? How do you know Hammond's less capable? Give the guy a chance!! I'd be more scared about Boris at the FO.

Hammond actually has a degree in economics (First class honours), whereas Osborne had studied history and was more of a towel folder than chancellor. Good bloody riddance!
Isn't it MI6?

Yes it is, was too in a hurry getting my one-liner out before anyone on twitter beat me to it...

Meanwhile Stephen Crabb, who just a couple weeks ago thought he was a suitable candidate to be PM, has resigned from the Cabinet due to allegations about his private life. It has now reached the stage where it is becoming increasingly difficult to believe that the whole thing was a stitch-up to get May elected in double-quick time. Would anyone be stupid enough to have made sure that the list of alternative candidates was quite so hopeless?
Given adultery isn't even remotely a barrier these days, I imagine it's more likely it was a 'either you go or I do' situation with his wife.

so, am I getting this right, 2 of the candidates were adulterers, both with dodgy equal rights credentials, one of them a serial adulterer with his foot inside media-Baron-land busy scratching each other's backs, another is married to a senior member of a media Baron's paper and has links to the biggest Mega-Media-Baron and another one has family involved in offshore banking and big cash stashed in tax-avoiding schemes.

The other one is the PM.

Phew! Dodged that bullet, eh?!

Is adultery really grounds for unsuitability as PM? One of the nation's most popular hobbies, after all.
