I'd say R&B and country are danger genres but they can also do well (see Lucy Hale for country just the other month). No single genre can really be judged, it's a song by song thing.

Also yaasss Tim! I'm glad that this can prove the mods do appreciate our input and what we have to say, which helps BJSC a lot!

Omygod, thank you so much guys. I'm so glad it got resolved
There's no way of guaranteeing a HIT but you can basically guarentee a FLOP if you go urban/R&B/(serious male) Hip-Hop ;o

Yeah I think you're onto something here.

I think trance is a good one to go for now I think of it. Had a good example of one Rush which gave me top 10 last year and didn't expect that genre to do so well. But again, I've listened to a few trance since and they've not really been very good.

(Also yes MLHammer to play BJSC *.*)

yeah it's all about the risk really, BJSC can throw surprises at us and I guess everyone can like random songs usually out of their comfort zones at times, like myself with $ORO by LUH, I hate all music like that but I'm so in love with the track right now

Well 'dance' is such a vague term to describe a song's genre considering there's hundreds of different dance sub-genres, so sending dance can't always guarantee you a hit it has to be the right kind of dance. And with Danaelanda being a dance-oriented country we've missed the mark numerous times as it's so unpredictable what will do well when it comes to it.

Oh yeah definitely. It's an over generalisation on my part really but my point is that some form of dance wins more often than not. Just as rock music has so many different sub-genres but most of them can pretty predictably be relied on not to win BJSC

'Generic progressive house' *.* Do producers set out to make this I wonder. No shade as I gave top points to In Your Arms

:kink:

Country is definitely the no go genre in bjsc unless you are Ultraviolenceland who do it really well.
I wonder how much funky house love there is in this competition because I bet we'll be getting a whole load of it come September ;o

We'll see about that. Ashton is going country this time.

BJSC LXXIV: Persephonia: A-WA - Habib Galbi ??????

Arabic hip-hop pop / iconic idk ~

Glad to see the veto has been overturned, definitely the correct decision here! Thanks to the mods for handling this situation calmly and constructively, hope for things like this to not repeat in the future. x

I have many hard rock potentials on ice waiting for the inevitable rockbloc shift. I've been predicting it for YEARS now.

Personally I'm still amazed that we've got 85 finals and god knows how many semis in and have NEVER had a nul pointer. Which really completely proves how eclectic our music tastes all are, there's always SOMEBODY to vote for everything. Even when Peter30 tried to troll with a terrible song to achieve this feat, Pavel was there to vote for it

Likewise Pavel tried to troll us sending what was essentially white noise to BJSC (it was quite a while ago but it did happen) but even that got a few points
