Very surprised to see Born to Die only debuting in top 100 this year - I would have thought that one would solidly be at least in the 80s.
Completely agreed, I was going to say the exact same! I really would've thought Born To Die and Video Games would be loved fairly equally in this but hopefully that will be the case from now on.

19 NE 2015 Years & Years - King 459 ( 19 )

20 10 2007 Girls Aloud - Call The Shots 456 ( 30 - 10 - 16 - 17 - 55 - 11 - 41 - 10 - 20 )

Second-highest new entry goes to the first major hit for Years & Years, the fairly wonderful King, loved by nearly all of Buzzjack that I can see, setting it and Y&Y in general up for a good future in this game. I haven't really listened to it for a while so it sounds fresh to me, and it's definitely one of the better #1 singles we've had lately. It was challenging for the top 10 for at least a bit of this but has to settle for a top 20 debut, which is very good in all fairness.

Sad times as Girls Aloud go out of the race, as Call The Shots drops from 10th place to 20th place. It's been in the final every year so far and most of those in the top 20 so this is actually a bit of a slightly worse result for it. But it's definitely one of the better Girls Aloud singles (no shade here) and well deserves its continuing legacy as their most popular song here.

17 13 2007 Sugababes - About You Now 463 ( 24 - 9 - 9 - 21 - 56 - 27 - 13 - 13 - 17 )

18 17 2008 Coldplay - Viva La Vida 462 ( 15 - 51 - 15 - 32 - 28 - 79 - 17 - 18 )

Guys, we've reached the highest FULLY male song at #18, as Viva La Vida sneaks ahead of King by a mere 3 points (almost certainly due to Bré's votes). There are plenty of songs (well, six) still to come with (credited) male involvement but they all have a woman with them as well. Viva La Vida is a great song to take up the mantle of Mr Brightside and I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor, definitely Coldplay's best for me and so it seems for Buzzjack as well, with four years in the top 20. It's just slightly short of its double peak at #15 but well, great result for them.

We have another song with a double peak just ahead of Coldplay, only this double peak is in the top 10, but that top 10 is one that About You Now has been trying and just failing to reach for the past three years. It was in there at several points during the adding up but couldn't quite sustain. Again, easily the most loved Sugababes song in this game consistently, and one of the best girlband singles Buzzjack has ever loved full stop, its pop glory has held it well for 9 years (except for maybe that one year at #56), I wonder how well it will do on its last try next year. Actually, 2007 is going to be a huge year to let go next year...

15 49 2012 Gotye (feat. Kimbra) - Somebody That I Used To Know 475 ( 19 - 62 - 49 - 15 )

16 2 2011 Rihanna (feat. Calvin Harris) - We Found Love 465 ( 15 - 5 - 3 - 2 - 16 )

So last year's runner-up (by a very narrow margin) falls all the way to #16. It's actually not even the highest Rihanna song anymore... or even the second-highest. I'm sure I thought it'd be a shoe in to win one year or something so I'm surprised at the falloff for We Found Love, although since 2011's frankly very weird yearly round I was sort of expecting it. Still the second-highest 2011 song after not going straight to the final, I think that's a slight turnaround worth celebrating. And this may be its lowest year but there is plenty of life in it yet to stage a comeback one year.

It's a new peak for Gotye's Somebody That I Used To Know as it recovers from a couple of off years and everyone remembers why it's so good and so addictive to listen to over and over again. Or that's just my experience with it, it has an obscene amount of plays for me because it's such joyous easy listening. The duet and interacting voices of both Gotye and Kimbra really help. We could use a big old 'indie' hit like this again, anything like this would really stand out wonderfully in the current landscape. Someone get Gotye to stage a Good Time-sized comeback.

13 45 2011 Lana Del Rey - Video Games 476 ( 52 - 42 - 43 - 45 - 13 )

14 52 2014 Sia - Chandelier 475 ( 52 - 14 )

Going fast and hard towards the top 10, we lose two more potential contenders, two songs that both started their ROTD careers at #52. What are the odds? Though it's rather a quicker march up the field for Chandelier than the other, I swear it was seeded first in 2014 last time, and it's nearly managed to get itself as the top 2014 song, with only one more of those left. A song filled with huge singing and wild abandon, it really was the song to kickstart Sia's career as a mainstream solo artist, and famously, on here, was a song that hung around in the charts for absolutely a goddamn age, which is perhaps why it didn't debut as high as its Buzzjack-friendliness would have had people predicting. Here though, that seems to have worn off and Sia is flying high again.

Video Games has spent a bit longer waiting for that big breakthrough, having spent the last four years at nearly the same position. This time, it really did break through, winning 2011 in its yearly round and here as well. Actually, small fact, 2011 is the ONLY year out of our ten to fall before the top 10. That top 10 consists of 9 different years. I think that's nearly as close to neat as we could have gotten. But Video Games, definitely appealing to us in the beautiful ballad stakes, I've never particularly rated it next to Lana's other songs but it's still a very nice song that I can appreciate at times. Most other people love it a lot more than me. And honestly, it might have been a several years long grower because it definitely sounds better to me now than it ever has before.

and in fact is STILL in the official top 100, it's literally spent over 2 years in the top 100 {106 weeks at the moment and counting}.

BOO at 'We Found Love' dropping off so much, what happened to it? :(

11 12 2007 Rihanna (feat. Jay-Z) - Umbrella 501 ( 5 - 2 - 3 - 7 - 28 - 34 - 12 - 12 - 11 )

12 5 2007 Amy Winehouse - Back To Black 494 ( 23 - 118 - 82 - 4 - 3 - 9 - 9 - 5 - 12 )

And so the last two to fall before the top 10 are both from 2007. I said it'd be a huge year to lose. In fact both of these are top 10 regulars, although Umbrella has been just missing out on the regular lately too. Once the safety net we all indulged in, secure in the knowledge that no one could ever give us a long #1 run more torturous than Rihanna's dominance over summer 2007, you might have heard that that has been broken recently. I don't think I would have gotten bored of Umbrella even if I were paying attention to the charts at the time though, it is a very joyful pop song and one that has been high in Buzzjack's hearts for a very long time. Actually, the start of that run looks similar to We Found Love's. Guys, this could be where We Found Love is in 4 years.

Back To Black ends a 5-year run in the top 10, one that I always thought it'd slip up on eventually but it's taken this long for it to happen. Notably it started doing really well in the same year that Amy tragically passed away and has never really faltered in the same way since - death causing a new appreciation for the artist? Perhaps. But Back To Black is a wonderful soul-pop song and definitely one wide-appealing enough to continually do well at this sort of thing, those early years are probably just anomalies. It, along with Video Games and Welcome To The Black Parade got some of the highest concentrations of high scores outside of the top 10, this is definitely a song built on the strength of huge love here.

So that means the top 10, all over 500 points, is...

Carly Rae Jepsen - Run Away With Me

CHVRCHES - The Mother We Share

Katy B - Crying For No Reason

Lady Gaga - Bad Romance

Loreen - Euphoria

Of Monsters And Men - Little Talks

Rihanna - Disturbia

Robyn - Dancing On My Own

Robyn - With Every Heartbeat

Shakira (feat. Wyclef Jean) - Hips Don't Lie

You may predict and speculate away at what order they will appear in.

top 10 prediction:

1 Lady Gaga - Bad Romance

2 Robyn - With Every Heartbeat

3 Robyn - Dancing On My Own

4 Carly Rae Jepsen - Run Away With Me

5 Loreen - Euphoria

6 Of Monsters And Men - Little Talks

7 Shakira (feat. Wyclef Jean) - Hips Don't Lie

8 CHVRCHES - The Mother We Share

9 Rihanna - Disturbia

10 Katy B - Crying For No Reason

surprised Disturbia is more highly regarded than Umbrella and We Found Love in this.

nooooooo @ Back to Black dropping out of the top ten, such an exquisitely crafted song and half of that top ten PALES in comparison. it had a good run tho, hopefully it can get back in for its final go next year!

good to see Crying For No Reason so beloved, tho, and really quite surprised by Disturbia (which I've lost love for) and The Mother We Share (great song, just never really thought of it as a big hitter and I think Lies is a bit better)

I expect Bad Romance to win again, but Run Away With Me to be nipping at its heels. but I've never been good at predicting anything.

SIR GOTYE :yahoo: Somebody That I Used To Know still sounds every bit as good as back in 2011/12, one of the decade's most iconic and influential hit singles <3

Deserved climb for Video Games as well!

What happened to We Found Love :o and CHVRCHES/Of Monsters & Men inside the Top 10? :o :o

Amazing Top 10. I'm going to predict a Swedish top 2 with Loreen finally taking the cake. Carly is gonna go Top 5, OMAM could sneak into 6th and Katy B and Chvrches might warm up the bottom two places (though I'd be happy to be wrong). Wouldn't place Bad Romance and Disturbia anywhere near my personal Top 10 and would gladly switch them out for #11 and #12 but the rest are amazing.

Predicta:

01 Loreen - Euphoria

02 Robyn - With Every Heartbeat

03 Lady Gaga - Bad Romance

04 Carly Rae Jepsen - Run Away With Me

05 Robyn - Dancing On My Own

06 Of Monsters And Men - Little Talks

07 Shakira (feat. Wyclef Jean) - Hips Don't Lie

08 Katy B - Crying For No Reason

09 Rihanna - Disturbia

10 CHVRCHES - The Mother We Share

Absolutely agree with you on Video Games, Iz, it's never struck me as a breakout hit for Lana in the way some of her other songs have.

So proud of CHVRCHES doing so well, I've been a fan since their first small gigs when I lived in Scotland.

That Robyn doubling-up in the top 10 is impressive. Truly we have better taste than the music-buying (streaming?) public at large. Seeing two of our eventual top 10 as non-top 20 - in fact, barely top 40 - hits makes me happy.

On that note, seeing Sia's success over the last few years after being in the game for 20 and only a few minors makes me wonder if Robyn is due a renaissance and new commercial success. Not completely out of the running for it to happen I think!

Run Away With Me wasn't even a top 40!

What a rise for Video Games  And a cracking top 10 too. Don't remember where OM&M/CHVRCHES were last year but did not expect them up here :o

Fabulous to see massive climbs for Chandelier and especially Video Games, two of my favourite songs

Top 10 Want: Top 4 is all 11/10 and Katy is an easy 10/10

1. Carly Rae Jepsen - Run Away With Me

2. Of Monsters And Men - Little Talks

3. Lady Gaga - Bad Romance

4. Rihanna - Disturbia

5. Katy B - Crying For No Reason

6. Robyn - With Every Heartbeat

7. Loreen - Euphoria

8. Robyn - Dancing On My Own

9. CHVRCHES - The Mother We Share

666.10. Shakira (feat. Wyclef Jean) - Hips Don't Lie

Top 10 Prediction:

1. Robyn - Dancing On My Own

2. Loreen - Euphoria

3. Robyn - With Every Heartbeat

4. Lady Gaga - Bad Romance

5. Carly Rae Jepsen - Run Away With Me

6. Of Monsters And Men - Little Talks

7. Shakira (feat. Wyclef Jean) - Hips Don't Lie

8. Katy B - Crying For No Reason

9. Rihanna - Disturbia

10. CHVRCHES - The Mother We Share

CHVRCHES & Of Monsters & Men in the top 10  Now that I didn't expect. Also Only just occurred to me that it will be With Every Heartbeat's last year next year, that'll be some big shoes to fill (Run Away With Me I'd imagine has that power).

I'm surprised We Found Love that fell that much, I've been appreciating it even more after her awful new material this year :kink: Certainly more so than Disturbia. Lana's rises are both quite surprising too but both deserved. Coldplay being still top 20 is great too, just a shame Adventure of a Lifetime didn't get the same good fortune as their other material did this time :(

So excited that CHVRCHES and Of Monsters and Men are in the top 10. Also Katy B. 3 excellent songs!

Disturbia being Rihanna's highest is baffling!

Robyn / CRJ top 3 please!
