Argh. So infuriating that people think we're not gonna get votes due to Brexiting! Oh my actual God! We're not getting votes coz we're sending bland, unfinished demos and boring "has beens" majority of the time! When the song's good/half decent we get rewarded! Jade Ewen, Blue and Molly got a great reception to her song, despite finishing where she did.

Exactly this!!!

I really don't think people actually sit and go "ah let's not vote for this" because we voted to leave the EU... Most normal European citizens probably don't care about who is and isn't in the EU. Perhpas if we did actually try and send a good song by a good performer and singer, we'd do well as we did with Jade and Blue. But the BBC has tarnished the reputation of Eurovision so much by sending the likes of Engelbert, Andy Abraham and Josh Dubovie that nobody of that ilk will actually do it

Brexit is just the new block voting isn't it. Including us there are 28 member states of the EU. There are usually 43 ESC entrants. There's a string of EU nations that refuse to enter and then the commonwealth nations meaning it's about 50/50 between EU nations and non-EU nations. Jesus f***ing wept. If you're going to go full tinfoil hat at least put the bare minimum amount of logic into it.

The former soviet states that are under Russia's thumb all dislike the EU so if Brexit was a voting reason we'd be in for Russia's 12. But we're not because this is a song competition and to do well you need to enter a good song and if you think the reason we've been doing shit lately is because politics and not because we've entered some of the worst things to have ever been recorded then do us all a favour and stop wasting precious oxygen. You're clearly not worthy of it nor have a brain that requires it.

The Guardian have already beat us to it, what a horrible article this is even if some of the opinions about the songs have a bit of truth to them.

If I wasn't told that was from the guardian I'd have assumed it was in the daily mail or the express. Hideous.

Agreed. I think joe public need reminding that 5 of the previous 10 winners are non EU. It's typical British arrogance expecting to just win anything we put our hand to least of all a "poxy song contest".

Almost NO ONE is thinking "oh I like that song, but I can't vote for it, it's the UK". The only country I could possibly envisage that resistance to would be Russia and, well, who won the televote last year?

Having let them all settle in, I *think* my favourite/the best one is 'Freedom Hearts'. It still probably needs a revamp and flalwess staging but it's got the best chance out of them all of being the least likely to embarrass us.

And hey, if Ireland, San Marino, Portugal and Czechia all qualify and Germany, France and Spain all select something terrible (I'd argue that Spain is pretty much confirmed in that respect) then we can probably hope that they all act as a cushion to keep us out of the bottom five by default. Yes, we are at the stage where we're hoping for everyone else to be worse. This is completely fine.

These are already changing quickly:

Bet365

6/4 Lucie Jones

7/2 Danyl Johnson

5/1 Holly Brewer

5/1 Nate Simpson

5/1 Olivia Garcia

11/1 Salena Mastroianni

William Hill

7/4 Lucie Jones

10/3 Danyl Johnson

9/2 Holly Brewer

9/2 Nate Simpson

6/1 Olivia Garcia

10/1 Salena Mastroianni

But as I say, I'm not trusting these just yet - but still interesting nevertheless!

Olivia has been gaining momentum over the past 24 hours, now 2nd favourite everywhere. There's a lot of bookies offering odds now so see a summary here:

http://eurovisionworld.com/?odds=united-kingdom

Olivia has probably taken over Lucie as my favourite now too, the "oh.. OH" bit keeps going around in my head which is a good sign. Would still be happy with a Lucie win, hopefully it is one of these two!

Running Order

TBA | Lucie Jones - Never Give Up On You
TBA | Nate Simpson - What Are We Made Of
TBA | Olivia Garcia - Freedom Hearts
TBA | Salena Mastroianni - I Don't Wanna Fight

Voting
While the exact make-up of the vote has yet to be official confirmed, it is expected that it will be a 50/50 split between a professional jury vote and the televote. The jury vote will consist of eight members, three of which will be present in the arena on the expert panel. These will be Bruno Tonioli, CeCe Sammy and Sophie Ellis-Bextor. It will be possible for UK viewers to vote for free online or via landlines and mobiles at a cost.

The Favourites
Several bookmakers have provided odds for the competition and Lucie Jones is considered the favourite at odds averaging around 6/4. Her closest challenger is expected to be Olivia Garcia who has gained momentum over the week and is now trading at 5/2. Danyl Johnson is expected to be the only other contender at around 4/1, and I personally expect him to win if drawn towards the end of the running order due to British people's view of what a Eurovision song should be. The other three acts are 6/1 or higher suggesting a very slim chance for these in only a 6-act field.

I actually love the Salena track, y'all are so pessimistic. What were you expecting? A Euphoria type of hit?

Although, thinking about it, Brits do have awful taste so Salena stands no chance in getting thru this NF

Freedom Hearts has grown the most for me, I agree with Lex's post! Has to be that, Salena or I'd be *ok* with Lucie as I think it will be a slow burner. The best we can hope for is ~20th and I think Olivia is the best one for that. Salena is my fave too but I very much doubt we'll pick that.

See now, the songs are all up on Spotify (again, baby steps of progress) and I think the YouTube/Radio 2 audio quality wasn't the best because in Lucie's song in particular the strings are much more pronounced in the mix (not enough to render it without need of a revamp mind but it's better than I thought it was). Pre the live performances I'd probably rank them:

01 Lucie

02 Salena

03 Olivia

04 Nate

05 Danyl

06 Holly

Ooh they're on Apple too, I'll have to give them a listen!
Can't believe they've been given a commercial release! Amazing! I haven't listened to them since Monday.
I Don't Wanna Fight is definitely the best one quality wise, what a jam. It has probably one of the lower chances of getting our low top 20 best case scenario position but idc really, does like a 4 place difference really matter? That, Lucie or Olivia would be fine by me.

The BBC have posted the article about online voting which last year leaked the order via a screenshot of the voting page. The screenshot this year has them all in alphabetical order though so looks like they aren't making the same mistake unless that is the actual order as well which I would t put past the BBC.

The same article also confirms we'll be getting a scoreboard tonight - jury will give 1 to 6 points and the televote likewise.
