October 17, 20169 yr The Vamps' position in the top 40 singles is less secure, it's hard to tell really but I expect they'll just miss out unfortunately. Did they release a physical this week or is that happening later (if there is one)?
October 17, 20169 yr Did they release a physical this week or is that happening later (if there is one)? Physical pre-order begins tomorrow and is out 4th November! So there's a short while yet, seems they're hoping this will happen on its own (not a bad move after how Wake Up fared after the physicals were released in week 1 :drama:)
October 17, 20169 yr Tom looking set for a top 3 debut *.* really happy, album of the year tbh, he delivered such a stunning album.
October 17, 20169 yr James Arthur had just under half of his chart sales last week from pure sales - therefore although Little Mix have knocked him down to 0.3 on iTunes he's probably still selling only a little slower than them in total. They'll need to keep their current lead all week plus make large gains on streaming before Friday to have a hope of #1 this week... Hope that happens though, it's nice having a song debut at the top occasionally!
October 17, 20169 yr LM would have definitely got #1 this Friday had they released last Friday. Oh well, they should definitely go #1 next week. Chart would look fresher if "Crank It" and "Controlla" switched places Edited October 17, 20169 yr by Hadji
October 17, 20169 yr Interesting to see "Skylarking" reissue by XTC appear at number 98 in the Album Chart update. Originally peaked at number 90 30 years ago so unlikely to improve on that... Seeing the Album in the chart update reminds me of the 3 singles from the Album that made it into the chart: "Grass" got to number 100, "The Meeting Place" also got to number 100 and third single "Dear God" (which was previously B-Side to "Grass") got to 99. There's a level of consistency (admittedly with low sales) rarely seen...
October 17, 20169 yr but it's true what Minty says, this year there has been no new act breaking big, in recent years we've had all those new UK singer songwriters like James Bay, George Ezra, Emeli Sande, Sam Smith and of course Ed Sheeran that were selling consistently throughout the year, also pop acts like Jess Glynne or Years & Years... but no one this year that I can think of Zara Larsson I guess. To a lesser extent, Anne Marie, Christine and the Queens and Shura. I know Christine was established, but not in the UK.
October 17, 20169 yr Christine and The Queens and Blosoms are the only new acts to really breakthrough in the albums this year
October 17, 20169 yr Zara Larsson I guess. To a lesser extent, Anne Marie, Christine and the Queens and Shura. I know Christine was established, but not in the UK. Who the heck is Shura?
October 17, 20169 yr I dont like the new Vamps single at all, its extremely forgettable. I would be delighted if Katie Melia can hold her album top 10 position but i would believe it will be touch and go. Ideally Little Mix will go number 1 with Shout Out To My Ex but its probably unlikely this week despite getting off to an extremely strong start, i will be very disappointed if they dont end the week top 3. October 17, 20169 yr I'm sure that LM will debut at #1, it's selling 3 times more than James on iTunes, and 80k plays with only 4 hours on spotify
October 17, 20169 yr Not a fan of Shout Out to My Ex but I guess it'll appeal Little Mix's fanbase well enough to have a week at no 1 or 2
October 18, 20169 yr Not a fan of Shout Out to My Ex but I guess it'll appeal Little Mix's fanbase well enough to have a week at no 1 or 2 I think it's fair to say it's been one of the songs that most appealed beyond their fanbase thus far. Let's now form a circle of prayer. I'm nervous.
October 18, 20169 yr Author Minty has confirmed Little Mix are now #2 in the midweeks. Well... blow me down :o Awesome... okay #1 is possible than. Anything better than James Arthur
