January 14, 20178 yr Author 21. Sigma - Stay gEmZChlQFSM Total points: 376 Chart run: 13-18-22-20-24-24-33-X-35-19-8-6-6-4-6-14-28 {18 weeks} And just like that we have back-to-back Sigma. One of the very best songs off the whole album this sadly did very little commercially but just misses the top 20 on this Chart courtesy of 2 separate runs, amounting to an eventual #4 peak. Like previous song 'Coming Home' it faded very quickly (the second time round) but is nonetheless one of the longest runners of the year. That's all for songs by Sigma in this countdown but not all for songs entitled 'Stay'.
January 14, 20178 yr An interesting selection here! Unfortunately I'm at work and can't listen to any of these now, but I'm enjoying the randomness of what is appearing - I was starting to feel like I was the only poster with slightly random entries! Time to look around other EOYs I think!
January 14, 20178 yr Great to see This Girl here! (also satisfying to see it higher than One Dance ;) ) I do prefer Don't You Know, but This Girl is of a very high standard, maybe he set the bar too high :(
January 14, 20178 yr Coming Home is my favourite Sigma song  glad to see it appear here! Rita sounds fantastic on it and whilst I generally feel quite tired of drum and bass, the entire song just works so well that I can ignore that.
January 14, 20178 yr Controlla is an amazing track. It should have done better in my chart but I heard it too many times before I got around to charting it. It's probably the one I'm bored of least out of the 3 that hung around together.
January 15, 20178 yr Kungs vs Cookin' On 3 Burners is a great track I am so glad it came into my life this year! I also love the two Sigma songs I prefer Stay but Coming home was great too!
January 15, 20178 yr Author An interesting selection here! Unfortunately I'm at work and can't listen to any of these now, but I'm enjoying the randomness of what is appearing - I was starting to feel like I was the only poster with slightly random entries! Time to look around other EOYs I think! Yeah I'd say have a pretty varied, wide-spanning taste, although it is mostly Dance that'll feature at the top end of the spectrum. There's also less commercial music making my Chart too, up the random entries :cheer: Great to see This Girl here! (also satisfying to see it higher than One Dance ;) ) I do prefer Don't You Know, but This Girl is of a very high standard, maybe he set the bar too high :( Both songs were soundtracks to the summer! Possibly, I get one-hit wonder vibes from him especially seeing how the follow-up performed. I think what 2016 in music has taught us all is that you can't write anyone off however! Coming Home is my favourite Sigma song  glad to see it appear here! Rita sounds fantastic on it and whilst I generally feel quite tired of drum and bass, the entire song just works so well that I can ignore that. It is brilliant, I'd placed it 3rd in my ranking. It was SO much better than Glitterball too, Rita's vocals complemented DnB a lot better than Ella so that was huge improvement from the previous single. Controlla is an amazing track. It should have done better in my chart but I heard it too many times before I got around to charting it. It's probably the one I'm bored of least out of the 3 that hung around together. Same with me, I play that a lot more now than the others & it still sounds great :music: Kungs vs Cookin' On 3 Burners is a great track I am so glad it came into my life this year! I also love the two Sigma songs I prefer Stay but Coming home was great too! Yeah that really blew up out of nowhere didn't it! I know many who absolutely loved it. They are both brilliant & I would agree I'd rank Stay just slightly higher. Sigma do flop singles WAY better than successful ones :heehee:
January 16, 20178 yr Author 20. LVNDSCAPE & Holland Park (feat. Nico Santos) - Waterfalls DXuf14ZWsjg Total points: 386 Chart run: 33-11-8-9-13-10-13-11-13-9-12-18-20-19-30 {15 weeks} Dutch acts LVNDSCAPE & Holland Park combined with German vocalist Nico Santos for this gorgeous house track which spent 10 consecutive weeks between #8 & #13 to boost it right into the year end top 20.
January 16, 20178 yr Author 19. Disturbed - The Sound Of Silence u9Dg-g7t2l4 Total points: 401 Chart run: 13-2-1-1-1-4-6-9-21-21-24-24-24-26-37 {15 weeks} Legendary hard rock band Disturbed scored a very surprising #1 on the Chart with this outstanding cover of the Simon & Garfunkel original. With 3 weeks at the top it brought an end to the 3 month domination from 2 tracks we'll see much higher.
January 16, 20178 yr Author 18. Jonas Blue (feat. Dakota) - Fast Car 5yXQJBU8A28 Total points: 410 Chart run: 4-1-1-1-2-4-7-10-15-15-17-20-26 {13 weeks} The first #1 of the calendar year was this tropical house cover of the Tracy Chapman classic. Another of the numerous 3-week #1s (of which 'By Your Side' also became), it is Jonas' only appearance in the countdown as follow-up 'Perfect Stranger's didn't quite make the cut.
January 16, 20178 yr Author 17. Kygo (feat. Maty Noyes) - Stay z9porfO8C_Q Total points: 411 Chart run: 5-6-8-6-6-9-14-10-14-15-14-15-16-25 {14 weeks} The second & just higher 'Stay' to feature, this time from Kygo who had a big hit with 'Firestone' last year but this has gone on to exceed that handsomely. All but 1 of its weeks was spent in the top 40% of the Chart.
January 16, 20178 yr Author 16. Cheat Codes & Dante Klein - Let Me Hold You (Turn Me On) ErLWeurzzw8 Total points: 412 Chart run: 20-24-21-25-28-33-21-18-15-12-10-11-9-8-10-16-23-30-33- {19 weeks} The second appearance from Cheat Codes lands a whole 84 places higher than the first. This reworking of the #2 Kevin Lyttle hit achieved a highly unusual but successful run on the Chart, climbing steadily & peaking in its 14th week, which could possibly be a record (I haven't checked). It was just a week shy of joining an elite group of songs to spend 20 weeks in the top 40.
January 16, 20178 yr The Sound Of Silence so high *.* Was hoping I'd see it that high up on some other EOYs - that was incredible seeing Disturbed get some chart force for a bit.
January 17, 20178 yr Let Me Hold You is fantastic  I find it a big improvement on the original which I don't really like. Great to see it nice and high here!! I love Stay too, it's held up really well throughout the year and I go back to it loads. I prefer Firestone but Stay is a comfortable second out of his songs for me.
January 17, 20178 yr Fast Car and Stay big faves for me last year  Waterfalls was great too although it didn't spend long in my chart. I liked Turn Me On as well although Sex is much better imo.
January 17, 20178 yr How did I miss Waterfalls? :o it sounds amazing! Stay is a great track as well, it did get boring after so many weeks in the chart though
January 17, 20178 yr Great to see The Sound Of Silence really high here - definitely one of the besst chart moments of the year, seeing that in the official top 40 *.*
January 21, 20178 yr Author The Sound Of Silence so high *.* Was hoping I'd see it that high up on some other EOYs - that was incredible seeing Disturbed get some chart force for a bit. One of the best surprise hits of last year, it really is a stunning listen all the way through. Stay is a true jam I love it a kygo favourite  My fave track by him now! :dancing: Let Me Hold You is fantastic  I find it a big improvement on the original which I don't really like. Great to see it nice and high here!! I love Stay too, it's held up really well throughout the year and I go back to it loads. I prefer Firestone but Stay is a comfortable second out of his songs for me. It's still a long way from the original for me (which says everything about how much I love that) but to manage such a long run in my chart is very impressive. I play Stay a lot now too, never got tired of it really like I have with his other hits. Fast Car and Stay big faves for me last year  Waterfalls was great too although it didn't spend long in my chart. I liked Turn Me On as well although Sex is much better imo. Waterfalls was easily one of the best BJSC entries of 2016 :cheer: Turn Me On > Sex for me, would have preferred their official chart runs to have swapped really. They're proving to be a pretty good group I also like Queen Elizabeth, Can't Fight It & Shed A Light. How did I miss Waterfalls? :o it sounds amazing! Stay is a great track as well, it did get boring after so many weeks in the chart though It really does! The exact type of chilled verses into glorious breakdowns I love so much :D I don't feel like it 'Stay'ed in the Chart for too long actually, I never tired of it in the same way as I did say, Firestone or Stole The Show :o Great to see The Sound Of Silence really high here - definitely one of the besst chart moments of the year, seeing that in the official top 40 *.* Agreed absolutely, just a shame it couldn't climb a few more places to get a glorious chart play.
January 21, 20178 yr Author 15. Norde - Every Single Night Qspoiy9dv90 Total points: 419 Chart run: 27-15-14-23-28-8-4-5-6-7-10-13-18-13-21-28-38 {17 weeks} Brilliant deep house track from Swedish producer Norde. After a modest start in the Chart it launched into the top 10, peaking at #4. He has yet to return the Chart since but with something as good as this in his repertoire it may only be a matter of time.
