November 26, 20169 yr I didn't expect Kate Bush to have the #1 in the bag. Neither did I but it will be very front-loaded as there will have been a lot of pre-orders from fans. We'll see what the gap is. Edited November 26, 20169 yr by Common Sense
November 26, 20169 yr That's a disappointing but unsurprising position for The Weeknd's album. With the physicals not hitting shelves until today and the fact that this time of the year the album charts are very dependent on physical sales, I'm not shocked that other albums that have been doing well physically are ahead of him. I can see the record settling into a top five position in the finish though. I think he chose the wrong time of the year to release.
November 26, 20169 yr Starboy might get #1 album on Jan-Feb instead if the momentum still holds up and there's no big events/big albums coming out during that time.
November 26, 20169 yr Great to see Kate at the top, Album will be front-loaded but hopefully the margin is enough to keep it top this week. Album has been near top of Pre-orders for a while now, was hoping it could achieve more than 50k sales and the fact that The Weeknd's Album sales are a third of the Sales of Kate so far looks promising for her.
November 26, 20169 yr Actually i thought The Weeknd was gonna be even lower in todays mids Since Sat mids dont include streams yet And I thought the physical was not out til Sunday? So @6 today is expected More shocked at LM down to @5 Although Ball/Boe were beating them on Thu
November 26, 20169 yr Yeah I think The Weeknd is at 6 based on digital sales alone? I'd say number one is a cert for him!
November 26, 20169 yr Yeah I think The Weeknd is at 6 based on digital sales alone? I'd say number one is a cert for him! Digital is his market though. He's never been a big physical seller. Streaming will help him climb a couple of places, but that doesn't effect the album chart like it does the singles chart.
November 26, 20169 yr Ahh but Weeknd will have a lot of streams, judging by spotify while Kate Bush won't have any
November 26, 20169 yr I really hope Kate Bush holds the top spot but with the Weeknd as high as 6 on streams alone Kate may lose the top spot, Busted will take number 3. Im finding hard to predict where Kylie will be this week.
November 26, 20169 yr I think Kylie will be around the 30's...... a mix of new album and a few sales of old album..... Problem with Kylie is she has only one new version... she didn't bother with a Vinyl etc which her fans want...... and the DVD of concert was released separately on ITunes.... so I don't think she will sell a lot to be honest.... maybe 5k at best?
November 26, 20169 yr The Kylie album has no promotion to with it either and i think outside her core fanbase not many will know of its release.
November 27, 20169 yr I think Kylie has a slot on the X-factor final so she may pick up a few sales from that... its the same weekend as her Royal Albert Hall gig
November 27, 20169 yr Kylie reissue won't sell massively and it will drop quickly. Top 40 maybe at best. There's been virtually no promotion so apart from fans who would know it's out. Edited November 27, 20169 yr by slowdown73
November 27, 20169 yr I can imagine Mariah will enter the top 40 this week. Top 40 iTunes and just cracked Spotify Top 50
November 27, 20169 yr If Little Mix receive a similar second week percentage drop as Get Weird (45%), they would be on track for 53k, which I would have thought would be enough for #1 if Kate Bush is the main competitor - I suspect she'll have solid sales for a live album but I'd be surprised if she could sell similar amounts of copies as Bruno and Olly's new albums did with it.
