December 26, 20168 yr Tinashe's addition to Slumber Party was genius  It wasn't one of my faves so I was a bit eh about it as a single but that totally justified it!
December 26, 20168 yr That's My Girl is such a great tune. I've loved all of Fifth Harmony's tunes this year. I'd rank this just above Flex. Don't Let Me Down is the only of The Chainsmokers songs I've loved this year. The drop is what makes it such a tune. Cheap Thrills was good at the time but overplay has made it almost unlistenable now. Dangerous Woman  I listened to this like 10 times in a row when it came out. I was so excited for it and it didn't disappoint.
December 26, 20168 yr Author AlunaGeorge  the raps in MWIM really do make it better than IIC although both are great. Also a fan of Cheap Thrills ofc. Thanks Dan! :D I like a lot some of the songs that are out of the Top100 (most of my Top30 of the year is there haha) :( Niall, Kelly, Charli XCX, Daya, Alan, Katy, Meghan :o Ooh looks like your top 30 will be a great follow then!! Thanks Seltin :D Hi Joseph Dangerous Woman is definitely one of my favourite tracks from the same album. Unlike pretty much everyone else, Into You is the weakest single from the album for me. STS is the best for me too, just so slick. She's been on fire this year though  I don't ADORE One Day I'll Fly Away but it is really gorgeous and it suits the advert very well. I'm gutted that the John Lewis ad tracks aren't doing so well this year because both this and the AURORA tracks have been very beautiful imo :( Happy Christmas ! x Heya Josh! Hope you've had a fantastic Christmas :D I'd say Ari improved with each of the three singles from Dangerous Woman! Everyday is a bit of a step down if it actually is single #4 but I like it a lot nonetheless though. Never thought I'd be stanning for her more than I did with Problem and Break Free but she's truly exceeded my expectations this year! I really wish the John Lewis songs were doing better in the chart  the past two definitely deserved better than they got! Hi Joseph! A lot of goodness here since I last commented. From your top 100, really like Cool Me Down - massive pop banger that. Don't Let Me Down was also a top track & definitely better than Closer, though not as good as Roses IMO. AlunaGeorge have always been hit & miss for me, not too big on those 2 tracks but I Remember was definitely a HIT in my book! Hey Dobbo, thanks for commenting! :D Roses never properly grabbed me, it only got to #40 in my chart, which is probably a bit too harsh in all fairness! Seems we're total opposites on AlunaGeorge this year, I was never that fussed on I Remember! :kink: Cheers Liam :D Tinashe's addition to Slumber Party was genius  It wasn't one of my faves so I was a bit eh about it as a single but that totally justified it! Tinashe's addition to the song itself isn't even all that, but the video makes it SO worthwhile  That's My Girl is such a great tune. I've loved all of Fifth Harmony's tunes this year. I'd rank this just above Flex. Don't Let Me Down is the only of The Chainsmokers songs I've loved this year. The drop is what makes it such a tune. I was so excited for it and it didn't disappoint. Thanks Lewis! :D I totally agree on Don't Let Me Down, the drop really sets it aside from many dance songs in the chart this year!

Kendrick Lamar) - 5-2-4-10-20-28-35-40-26-37-X (10 weeks) 79 MØ - Final Song - 19-4-6-9-16-24-36-X (7 weeks) 80 Tinie Tempah - Girls Like (feat. Zara Larsson) - 32-17-15-21-22-14-14-18-8-13-17-23-27-38-X (14 weeks) The quality really leaps up as we head towards the top end now! Double Zara Larsson in this section, leaving her with just one song remaining in the countdown. First up is Tinie Tempah's Girls Like, on which she is a featured vocalist. Girls Like is undoubtedly one of the biggest #8 hits my chart has seen, with 14 weeks on the chart in total, if not THE biggest. It was helped by the fact it took AGES to peak and managed to sneak that sole week in the top 10 in a fairly quiet week. Also at #75 is Zara's solo track Ain't My Fault, which had a pretty fantastic run in the chart in the end too. Initially peaking at #10 and dropping for a few weeks, it soared back up for a couple more weeks in the top 10, helped by one of the best music videos of the year. Zara is undoubtedly one of my favourite breakout stars of the year and I really can't wait for her album to come out! MØ has also had a pretty good 2016, starting the year with one top 10 hit in the bag from Iggy Azalea's Beg For It in 2014 and ending it with a total of five! Final Song is the highest of her solo tracks, and also her highest peaking solo song, getting to #4 during the summer. She still has one more song to come in the form of Cold Water. Sia however is now out of the running as her #2 hit The Greatest drops out at #78. It's both Sia and Kendrick Lamar's highest charting hit in my chart, Sia's previous personal best being the #4 peak of Chandlier, and Kendrick's sole previous hit was on Taylor Swift's Bad Blood, which made #8 last year. Two Eurovision hopefuls drop out here also, with Suite 16 and Smilo. Swedish trio Smilo look a lot like a boyband upon first glance, but they're a bit more like Cheat Codes where they have a vocalist and the other two are on DJ duty (Cheat Codes are different by the fact they seem to alternate the vocalist). Weight of the World is a fantastic dance-pop track with a great message, really deserved to make at least the AC stage in Melodifestivalen, but instead it crashed out in one of the heats. Still, another Melodifestivalen song is still to come, and it's the eventual winner from Frans, so I can't moan too much! Suite 16 are definitely a boyband, and they took part in Melodi Grand Prix, the Norwegian Eurovision selection with their song Anna-Lee. I'd heard one of their songs before, Stupid Lovesong, which made my weekly top 20, but ultimately it didn't capture my imagination and nothing else of theirs took my fancy until this, and I must say it is by FAR their best song! The song placed third in the final of the contest but sadly it wasn't enough to progress through to Eurovision. More top 10 hits pop up now from Daniel Skye and Charlie Puth. Daniel makes his last appearance now with the quirky and fun Smile. At first I was very unsure of this track, the verses didn't really appeal to me at all but the chorus was so infectious that I kept going back to it, and the verses eventually clicked - this is quite clear by its very slow climb to a #5 peak! Charlie however still has two more appearances, and One Call Away is the lowest of his singles this year. One Call Away didn't really go anywhere upon its initial push, and weirdly, it took off in the chart after its main airplay finished! Nevertheless it was great to see it become a hit, and it gave it a new lease of life in my chart too, finally making the top 10 at #8. Britney Spears pops up again with instant grat track Do You Wanna Come Over?, which I adore but I think I've burned it out a tad with overplay! Nevertheless, I'd love to see it become a single in the future if she continues promoting Glory. Lastly, Benjamin's Underdogs is the highest track to not make my top 10, or top 20 even! Underdogs was his first ever single, but I didn't actually know of him until his third single (Young & Restless) so of course it didn't make an impact on my chart at the time. It's only when his album came out that I really started paying attention to this track, such a fun and carefree pop track, and its chart run really doesn't do it justice but I guess it's more reflected in the album's chart run! December 27, 20168 yr Ooh Smilo, didn't they get entered into BJSC 89? I enjoyed that track so I'll have to check the one you're charting out :D! Also good to see Ain't My Fault and The Greatest here, both have been deservedly big in my scrobbles in what has been a great last few months for female artists (what with Anne-Marie, Little Mix, Dua Lipa, Hailee Steinfeld and a few more gaining popularity), I really hope their upcoming material is as good as the aforementioned tracks! (and I really hope the Alan Walker Remix of Move Your Body gets a push :D) So many tunes here  Edited December 27, 20168 yr by CHRISTIANmas
December 27, 20168 yr Zara Larsson  She's done some proper tunes this year and fast becoming one of my faves. Ain't My Fault is still to appear in my EOY as well as Lush Life. Also loved 'Final Song', don't know of much else here (the BJSC Smilo song was quite decent so maybe this one is too?)
December 27, 20168 yr Hi ya again Joseph Woo at Zara Larsson twice and woo at the greater song doing better here. I like both but Girls Like got a bit old fairly quickly for me but I can still sing at the top of the voice to the last minute or so of AMF and have so much fun  She's had such a great year though and yay at IWL being yet another hit for her :) I think Charlie seems to be a bit of an acquired taste, especially on this site but I've loved all of his singles so far. OCA is actually one of his best for me, it's surprisingly catchy for a slow track and the lyrics are kind of adorable  :D
December 27, 20168 yr Ain't My Fault is such a sassy little anthem I love it  For some Reason I thought one Call Away peaked higher here :o Charlie hater :kink: I also love The Greatest, Final Song and really love Girls Love
December 27, 20168 yr good to see The Chainsmokers in here they are really good! Ain't My Fault is such a tune as well! I've heard some of Suite 16 and they were decent so gonna have to check out Anna-Lee cause I'll probably like it :D had a listen to Daniel Skye - Smile too and it was really great! looking forward to finding some more good songs ^_^
December 27, 20168 yr That Fleurie track from a few pages ago was really nice! :3 Cake By the Ocean/Blue Lights/Kamikaze/Mean What I Mean appearances <3

It's a lot better than the BJSC song imo, as shown by the huge gap between the songs in my EOY - Young Again is down at #245! I agree that the last few months have been pretty fantastic for female artists in pop! All of them show lots of promise too, particularly hyped for what Dua and Anne-Marie will be bringing us in the future. Thanks mdh  Zara Larsson  She's done some proper tunes this year and fast becoming one of my faves. Ain't My Fault is still to appear in my EOY as well as Lush Life. It's great that Zara's managed to break through, it's certainly not undeserved with such fantastic tracks! Lush Life is still to come for me :D Definitely check out Weight of the World! I prefer the "drop", it's much more euphoric. Thanks Dan! :D Great to see Girls Like & Final Song here :cheer: Thanks Pete! :D Hi ya again Joseph Woo at Zara Larsson twice and woo at the greater song doing better here. Listening to that bit as I type  I really hope she continues to do really well throughout 2017! I think on this site, some people have been alienated by Marvin Gaye and to a lesser extent One Call Away due to the lyrics, which I can kinda understand, but I don't think either are particularly reflective of the rest of his album in that sense! Ain't My Fault is such a sassy little anthem I love it  For some Reason I thought one Call Away peaked higher here :o Charlie hater :kink: I also love The Greatest, Final Song and really love Girls Love  Thanks Harry! :D One Call Away took ages to get to that peak too so it was a real sleeper hit I'd say :o not a hater tho x good to see The Chainsmokers in here they are really good! Ain't My Fault is such a tune as well! December 27, 20168 yr Author Artists http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx240/MarthaJonesFan/All%20Saints.png 5 All Saints Now here is an artist I never expected to dominate 2016 like they did! I've been a fan of All Saints for a long time, probably since Rock Steady in 2006 (aged 9!) unless I heard one of their classic tracks on a music channel even sooner. I really liked them at the time anyway, I bought all three of their albums + their All Hits album although I never really made myself familiar with a lot of their singles pre-Rock Steady and the Studio 1 album. Regardless, I adored Rock Steady, it was one of my favourite songs of 2006 (and all-time actually) and of course Never Ever and Pure Shores are top notch! All Saints came back with a bang in 2016, with their first album in 10 years. Red Flag had me interested but I never expected it to be anywhere near as good as it was! Their albums had been patchy in the past, with the singles often being the highlights. The lead single, One Strike, was released ahead of the album and built my anticipation nicely, becoming a slow burner in my affections actually, but ultimately I feel it's worthy of sitting among the classics like the aforementioned Never Ever and Pure Shores! After a couple of promo singles, Red Flag finally arrived. The album was great, really consistent and shows off their new mature sound really well. Shaznay, Mel, Natalie and Nicole have had their issues with each other over the years, splitting up initially after constant rows, but you can tell they're loving the music they're making nowadays, and they're doing it for the enjoyment of not just the music, but each other's company too. This was also very evident on tour, as their interaction with each other was on point. Mel particularly shone on tour with her great sense of humour! One of my favourite moments on the album is Ratchet Behaviour and Red Flag, which join together seamlessly with a transition between the two songs. Ratchet Behaviour is a wonderfully mad track, and Red Flag is much more refined, so the contrast is most definitely present but it works so well. Other highlights are the very radio-friendly Puppet on a String, the powerful This is a War, and the beautifully written Who Hurt Who, talking about how they've put all their past struggles with each other behind them. "Did you ever think we'd get on better, now we never have to worry, who hurt who"... Recommendation Xb3vA7i7rDM
December 28, 20168 yr Hi Joseph :D It seems like Zara will continue to do well into 2017 so far, looks like IWL could even perhaps challenge for the top spot :o Didn't listen to the All Saints album but I've heard great things about them. They're a bit before my time really so only heard Pure Shores, Never Ever and Black Coffee from them which are all great but I was shocked at how good One Strike was too! Should probably listen to a couple more tracks from their new album!
December 28, 20168 yr Girls Like - Nowhere near as good as his old material but this is the best song he's released in ages. Final Song - Every year I start to like a song I wouldn't otherwise due to Radio 1 spamming it when I'm on holiday and this was the one this year. The Greatest - This is Sia's best song of all-time for me. Her songs usually bore on my rapidly but is still a great tune. Ain't My Fault - Another brill single from Zara. She's had a such a great year. Hers is one of the very few albums I'm currently looking forward to next year.
December 28, 20168 yr :hi: All Saints  Thanks for getting me into them (one album you shared with me that I actually stuck with all year!!1). Aww I'd definitely recommend hearing some more All Saints, whether it be the new stuff or the old singles, or both!
