2015 Re-Cap

3. Selena Gomez ft A$AP Rocky - Good For You

Does it hold up?: Definitely. I would say I'm a fairly big fan of Selena, she's had 3 #1's in my chart. But this is by far the best thing she's ever released. Easily one of the smoothest and coolest songs of the past few years.

Cheerleader & Fester Skank are both amazing, still love both of them :music:

Delighted to see more love for these tracks

Good For You is a beauty, I've become such a huge fan of Selena's in the past year and a bit

Good For You is such a jam!

Good For You is so good  Everything Selena has released since The Heart Wants What It Wants has been amazing for me.

2. The Weeknd - The Hills

Does it hold up?: Yes. Although Starboy is brilliant this remains The Weeknd's best tune. Looked for a long time that this was going to be the biggest song to ever miss the top in my charts but it finally got 2 weeks in the end after the release of the awesome Eminem & Nicki Minaj remixes.

2015 Re-Cap

1. Ariana Grande - Focus

Does it hold up?: Obviously, it's still my signature. It spent the first 4 weeks of 2016 as my personal chart number one to add to it's 7 weeks during 2015 to become my all-time longest run at number one. Although, it's been slightly overshadowed by the whole Dangerous Woman album this year I do still love this every time it comes on.

Can Ariana make it 3 years in a row at the top or will someone else join her and Ylvis in having my number one song of a year?

Focus holds up very well for me too :D They were so wrong to leave it off the album tracklist, just because its success was brief doesn't mean it was unworthy of a place. Oh well. Looking forward to the rest!

Focus remains her best song since Break Free for me. Her singles since then have been quite hit & miss though I do enjoy Side To Side still.

The Hills is definitely The Weeknd's back track still but I really think I Feel It Coming could give it a run for its money in the coming weeks!

Unfortunately I don't really like either of your Top 2 :( But I can see why you like Focus, it's the type of song that gets stuck in your head when you hear it.

I was disappointed Focus was overlooked for Dangerous Woman but it didn't really fit with the other songs. It should have at least been a bonus track though.

I like I Feel It Coming but it's nowhere near his best for me

That's a shame. Hopefully you'll like some of this this years chart :D

COMMENTARY: For the 2nd year in a row Drake finished 5th, narrowly edging out Little Mix through quantity over quality. He's undeniably been the biggest artist in the world during 2016 and has released some brilliant tunes. Unfortunately you'll have to be in America or using a VPN to watch the video I posted for One Dance. His hatred of Youtube has been his worst aspect of the year.

Hi Robin

That is really quite the chart history for Drake there! My favourites from that list being the Rihanna collabs, they just have some of the best chemistry which makes every track of theirs instantly enjoyable. I've also jammed quite a bit too the likes of One Dance, Fake Love and Summer Sixteen although none are his best. I love a few of his older tracks like Make Me Proud, Hotline Bling, Over, The Motto, Find Your Love and HYFR too.

Yeah every Drake & Rihanna track always turns out brilliant, they do work very well together. I do love some of the older Drake tracks you mentioned too but I think this year has been his strongest.

4. Fifth Harmony

2016 charting songs:

01 All In My Head (Flex) (ft Fetty Wap)

01 That's My Girl

01 Work From Home (ft Ty Dolla $ign)

01 Write On Me

15 I'm In Love With A Monster (01 In 2015)

COMMENTARY: And finishing 4th this year is the artist that finished 2nd last year, Fifth Harmony. This feels like it has been the year where Fifth Harmony have properly broke through worldwide with Work From Home apparently being the most viewed music video of the year on VEVO and also becoming their first top 10 in the US. For me, they've had another solid year adding 4 new number ones to the 3 they had last year.

3. Kanye West

2016 charting songs:

01 Fade (Ft Post Malone & Ty Dolla $ign)

02 Famous (ft Rihanna)

03 Wolves (ft Sia & Vic Mensa)

07 Pop Style (Drake ft The Throne)

16 Facts

16 No More Parties In L.A. (ft Kendrick Lamar)

17 Mercy (ft Big Sean, Pusha T & 2 Chainz) (02 in 2015)

17 Timmy Turner (Remix) (Desiigner ft Kanye West)

20 Real Friends (ft Ty Dolla $ign)

Video

COMMENTARY: Although 2016 hasn't seemed to have been the best years personally for Kanye West his music has been back to it's best. After the relatively disappointing Yeezus album and some songs of varying quality released in 2015, my hopes weren't set too high for The Life Of Pablo. However the album turned out brilliant showing he can make everything, from bangers like Famous & Fade to whatever Low Lights is. It's just a shame his years been marred by controversy. Be it supporting Bill Cosby, claiming he's in $53 million debt, his twitter war with Wiz Khalifa, restarting his beef with Taylor Swift, ranting at gigs, his hospitalisation or today where he has met with Donald Trump. I'm still probably missing loads there.

Hi again Lewis

Once again quite the chart history for 5H there too! Flex was a massive #1 on my chart, has one of the catchiest choruses of the year for me. As does Work From Home too but that just missed out on my top spot behind Rihanna's Work which still for me is the better job related song  Wasn't as huge on TMG but it still has a good chorus, just more of a fan of their urban tinged tracks.

Can't say I'm a huge fan of Kanye at all, think he's a bit of an idiot really  but I guess Famous was alright, mainly down to Rihanna that though. He's had better in the past such as All of the Lights, Paris, Black Skinhead for me.

Good to see Flex was a number one in your chart, great tune. Work From Home actually knocked Work off number one in my chart  It was a great time for the working songs.

Kanye is one of my all time favourite artists. It's a shame to see you don't really like his new music because I think it's his strongest since the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy era. I have to agree that he has been pretty idiotic recently outside his music though.
