Bassline  what an immense song, and to even make the UK top 10 was a brilliant moment

Really loving You Want Me now, will most likely make my top 100 this year!

Write On Me almost forgot about that one despite charting it myself, really should have pushed that more especially as it sounds so on-trend

Too Good here :) definitely was overshadowed by One Dance but still managed an extremely impressive run

I was buzzing when it reached the top 10

That's good to hear. Such a great beat to that song :)

I love Write On Me but I don't think it would have done much if pushed

The Sound is really excellent, easily my favourite song by The 1975 so far  Was amazing to see it become such a hit officially too!

Camila is the shining star of Bad Things to me, she gets a lot of slack on this site but I love her voice

Yeah, The Sound is their best for me too. Very deserving of its success.

Agree over Camila

You Want Me is amazing :D Nice to see that songs like that can still do well officially!

True but it still does sound unique to everything else on the chart :D

22. Giggs ft Donae'o - Lock Doh

Donae'o's Chart History:

Comment: One of the biggest grime hits of a massive year for grime, this even reached the top 50 on Spotify. Donae'o provides one of the catchiest choruses of the year, which got ruined by the censored version on radio. Giggs keeps to him usual quite distant uninterested tone that seems to work well for him.

Comment: Didn't quite manage 15 weeks at number one in my chart but did become 1 of only 4 that managed more than 2 weeks at the top in 2016. It fell harshly after overplay started to take its toll but I still enjoy listening to it now. Fully deserving of the massive success it had.

Comment: Certainly the most 'hype' song of all time. This would really make anything epic. Of course I charted it due to Deadpool. I had never been so excited for a film's release as much as I was for Deadpool and the use of this in the trailers was even furthering my excitement. Although this had a short run compared to some of the songs around it, this was certainly one of my most played songs of the year.

Comment: I think this is the highest song that missed number one in my charts. This was the most successful of the Dangerous Woman singles near enough everywhere but here where it became the first official single of hers to miss my top spot since One Last Time. This is still a wonderful song though and was very instant. It was my 2nd favourite album track upon first listen.

Comment: I usually prefer the more fun tracks from Watsky but this serious one really connects for me. This one is a song that I can listen to whenever and enjoy it just the same. This may not be his strongest song but it may be the nicest and most pleasant song. He sings the chorus in this one too, which isn't always the case.

Comment: What a video this has :o I don't even know how to describe this song. It feels so unique among everything else in 2016 and it is what confirmed to me that Kanye is back at his best. This may be his strongest since Power. Kanye's/Malone's/Ty's vocals also blend into together so well.

2015 07 Hands To Myself

2016 01 Kill Em With Kindness

Comment: Not quite managing to reach the same heights as Good For You in 2015, but Kill Em With Kindness is another brilliant song from Selena. I never would have imagined I would have became such a massive fan of hers a few years ago, but since The Heart Wants What It Wants everything has just been so good. Love the slightly more dance-y feel to this.

Comment: The video version >>> the radio version. This song often gets called boring but i don't hate it, i love it. The song just feels so authentic and real. gnash's verse is among my favourites of the year and Olivia O'Brien sounds great on the chorus.

Mal Devisa's Chart History:

2016 01 Midnight Heart (Watsky ft Mal Devisa)

Comment: This is really a mash of a lot of cool people. Watsky raps the verses, Mal Devisa sings the chorus, Josh Dun of Twenty One Pilots on drums, and Anderson .Paak & Kush Mody on production, while Wax is also credited as a writer. This is probably the most exciting of all the songs on the album and I love the fact that Mal Devisa almost sings two choruses. The slow and beautiful 'Satisfied' then the punky and shouty Midnight Heart.

'Fade' almost sounds nothing like a Kanye track. :o That's part of what I like about it, my favorite song of his in years. 'Kill Em With Kindness' was my favorite of Selena's singles off of Revival (actually, the only one I liked at all ). My opinion on 'I Hate U I Love U' varies, I loved it some days and hated it other days so the title is fitting. Will be interesting to see if Gnash has any further success!

Side to Side is fantastic, Ari and Nicki work really well together and it has one of the best music videos of 2016 I think.

Kill Em With Kindness is my least fave single from Revival but I really love all four, I'm glad it got its moment as a single and became a top 40 hit!

I agree that Fade doesn't sound like a Kanye track and is his best for years but I do like his recent stuff too. :D

I agree, the Side To Side video is so good.

I love all four too. It would have been nice if Same Old Love made the top 40 so it could have been 4/4.

Comment: This is the first lead-artist single from Rihanna I've liked Disturbia. Most of Rihanna's best work comes as a feature but this is excellent. This reached #1 on my 18th birthday chart so it takes its place in my history books. This seemed to be everywhere at the time and everyone either loved or hated the Caribbean dialect used throughout the song. Out of the two videos, I prefer the 2nd.

Comment: For the longest time this looked like it was going to join Sledgehammer as being the onl 5H tracks to miss out on reaching #1, especially in its two week stint at 2. However, the song did eventually win out for a single week. I love that the reggae vibes to this that makes it stand out among their work. Fetty's verse is just as iconic as ever.

Comment: This song really should have finished in the EOY top 10. Only 2 songs spent longer at #1 than this, it was ruined by only taking off right at the end of the year. Originally released a couple of the days before the album as a Genius.com exclusive. The songs official video release is what pushed this to the top. This is the highest placing song of 2016 for my artist of the year but he shouldn't be too disappointed, he's has had previous EOY top 10 finishes. I would probably rank this about 5th if I were to compile now.

X Gon' Give It To Ya! My student union used to play that ALL the time

The gnash song I wasn't fond of at the time but really like it now!

Good to see Work so high here a song I can hear over & over again and not tire of.

That's an impressive chart history for 5H there, poor Sledgehammer!

Glad to see you're liking gnash now, it was too disliked at the time.

Work did get slightly boring for me, but it's sounding brill again now.

At least Sledgehammer spent more weeks in my chart than Bo$$ & Write On Me, although I certainly prefer them two more. :D

Comment: Even though this shot to #1 in its 2nd week, I was certainly disappointed in this at first, hence it's fast fall down my chart. However, this has matured brilliantly and is now certainly one of his best. This is the 2nd year in a row that The Weeknd has graced my EOY top 10 after 'The Hills' finished 2nd last year. This is also Daft Punk's 2nd EOY 10 after Get Lucky also finished 2nd, back in my first ever EOY countdown in 2013.

Comment: The Suicide Squad soundtrack was much better than the film and this was just another example of that. Combining what seemed to be every Atlantic Records artist of all time, this shouldn't be good and yet it so really is. Logic especially impressed me with his verse on this, I haven't heard any of his other work but I love his verse here.Wiz Khalifa & Lil Wayne have finished in my EOY top 10 before (WK - We Own It (Fast And Furious), #5, 2013) (LW - Thank You, also #5, 2014). Lil Wayne & Ty Dolla $ign both feature on songs still to come.

2016 03 Ain't My Fault

2016 09 I Would Like

Comment: This is the 2nd highest debut hit of 2016 in my charts. This is such a good pop song and sounded perfect at the start of last year. This was my first #1 of 2016 (after 4 weeks of Focus) and has remained awesome to this day. Delighted that this became massive and really made her a big name here in the U.K. Roll on her album now.

Starboy I quite like now, a lot more than when I first heard it!

Lush Life meanwhile is the opposite, definitely felt to me like the most overplayed song of the year so I genuinely can't listen to it now :/

The album should be pretty good!

That's great to see. Starboy is a grower.

There was a time where I felt the same over Lush Life but it's sounding amazing for me again now.

2016 01 That's My Girl

Comment: This one just refused to get old for me. The video for this is one of their best which really elevated the song for me. They all sound brilliant on this, so it's disappointing that this is their last single with Camila. For the 2nd year in a row Fifth Harmony manage to get 2 songs in my EOY top 10, following I'm In Love With A Monster (#7) and Worth It (#4) last year. Can they better that this year?

Comment: I think it this was pushed as a single then it would have finished at the top of my countdown. The fact that I heard it nowhere outside of my own choice really effected its position here. This reached #1 in album release week after peaking at 2 a few weeks earlier. Ari still has 2 more to come. The video for this is absolute fire

Lil Yachty's Chart History:

2016 01 Broccoli (D.R.A.M. ft Lil Yachty)

2016 12 After The Afterparty (Charli XCX ft Lil Yachty)

Comment: The biggest debut of the year goes to D.R.A.M. for Broccoli :gold2: Massive congrats to him. This is the feel-good track of the year for me, every time I hear it I just feel so happy. D.R.A.M.'s enthusiasm is just so infectious and the hook is wonderfully catchy. Lil Yachty does sound slightly like he's on a different record but it works. This could have easily had 6 weeks at the top if it wasn't for a song still to come.
