:hi: mdh, sorry for not popping in much recently!

I adored TYB so glad to see it appear in quite a few countdowns this year, I think it has overtaken Stitches now for me too but excited to see where that comes in your countdown. So glad he's had such a successful year because he seems really likeable and a has a lovely voice (and face :heehee:).

Wasn't expecting to see Gyptian in a 2016 countdown with that song but really excited to see more people like it, it's a huge jam and as you said the piano is fantastic. I adore the Nicki remix too although it's one track where I probably prefer the non-Nicki remix

Hey Josh!

Yeah, you'll see Stitches in the next bunch of songs coming up in a minute or two - I mention how he's got a lovely face in that too aswell :heehee:

BETTER DANNY CAN

Loooooove Treat You Better, was amazing to see Shawn prove he wasn't a one-hit wonder  (although he wasn't anyway thanks to Oh Cecilia :magic:)

BADDER DAN ECAN

Oh Cecilia was very good - although I always forget Shawn was on it! :(

Thanks Pete :D

Man is an absolute brill tune. One of the highlights on an amazing album. What a year Skepta had.

I know right, him getting a top 40 with it was the absolute icing on the cake for me, so deserved

107. Lapsley - Love Is Blind

LOVE MONTH - FEBRUARY

- A really nice indie number, this has a wonderful message and the vocals are quite spot on. I heard this on Radio 1 around the time when 7 Years was breaking out and I loved it straight away. It's gentle, and clam, yet so intense and moving at the same time - it's hard to find a perfect medium of the two aforementioned features without totally butchering your song although Lapsley do exactly that, effortlessly. I checked out the rest of their recent tracks and none were up to this standard, unfortunately, but this was a deserved top 10 peaker in my personal chart back in February, that lyrically resonates with me for multiple reasons.

106. DJ Zinc ft Boy Matthews - This Time

LOVE MONTH - JANUARY

- Another track I don't really have much to say about - but I absolutely loved this! It was a really slow burner in my personal chart, and this position isn't at all an accurate reflection of how it did in it - it didn't even peak in the top 10 although it's outpeaked multiple personal chart #1's here! A lovely bit of garage inflused drum and bass from DJ Zinc, I actually never got to hear a high quality version of this but I think the tinny version I was accustomed to was more than good enough, bas quality kind of added to the nostalgia of the song? I guess. The whole of it was a massive throwback to the days of rowdy, anthemic garage house - something that has been pleasantly prominent in 2016 and that's why it's ended up peaking so high in my countdown.

105. Galantis - No Money

LOVE MONTH - APRIL

- This spent a massive 3 weeks at #1 in my personal chart and after recently hearing it again on the Official Chart EOY, I realised why I loved it so much. Galantis's vocals are so playful, they scream youth and innocence and are really a welcome change to the serious dance tracks with massively high production values and heavy beats and it's lovely they've managed to achieve success with such a quirky style and production type. Love On Me was also good, although I far prefered this absolute BANGER - it was really great to see it eventually peak in the top 5 of the chart, so summery and blissful, released at the perfect time of year, too!

104. Shawn Mendes - Stitches

LOVE MONTH - JANUARY

- Very very surprising to see this reach the official top spot. It stalled at #2 in my chart, although admittedly it did have a really stellar overall chart run, as it did in the UK charts. The laid-back guitar style that Shawn puts across in nearly all his music (yet with really high production to make what is perfectly accessible guitar pop) has really hit it off with me this year - there's something so charming and appealing about that Canadian twang to his voice and insanely catchy chorus's. He's unbelievably attractive, too. Sonically, this was the best way for Shawn to go in order to achieve success after a slighlty underwhelming 2014-15 era, and obviously he DID achieve success, massive amounts of it. I think it's safe to say that from now Shawn has cemented himself in the list of 'pop stars that can debut top 40 first week'. Yay.

Hi MDH :D I've been following this with interest!

It would have been very interesting to see how Alone would have done in BJSC, it seems quite similar to my entry Emoji, which came 14th, but I suspect Alone would have come top five.

Shout out to the German hits Geiles Leben and Please Tell Rosie too, both so good. The latter sounds like it's sung by a baby or something but it's sweet.

Hold Yuh! Immense tune of 2010, a uni fave too.

No Money was another great song from them, really impressed by their ability to make consistently good music.

Stitches    still to come in my EOY, what a fantastic track. Seeing it reach the official top spot was my favourite chart moment of the year, I'd been loving it for about 6 months before that

Hey mdh! :D

From the previous two pages, my favourites are Stitches, No Money, Treat You Beter, Never Be Like You, All My Friends, Breathe, Rockabye, Find Me & I Would Like.

Looking forward to seeing your Top 100!

Emoji is a great track! Had I had been in the contest when that was around I would have definitely pointed it very highly

Yeah, it's very quirky, that's what made it stand out for me, though.

Oh yes, Love On Me wasn't great but still, massive track

A 3-week #1 appearing outside the top 100! Gonna be some massive plays/impacts for tracks higher up then!

Yep, some of the top 10 haven't hit #1 :D

No Money is great! Like many songs, I love the verse a lot more than the chorus :)

I love the whole song, looking back it's kinda harsh it didn't chart top 100.

Yeah, I can't say the sameas you but I first heard it back in August 2015 on 4Music and had been aware of it since then so to see it impact so late was a pleasant shock!
