Valid point but for many artists they climb the chart the week of a tour. The hike is short lived but effective in the short term.

Steps are in a very lucky position to be still able to sell out tours as this really is where they will earn their money. This successful comeback also helps them keep their profiles alive and make them more lucrative candidates for reality shows etc.

Is anything on this album as good as / better than Scared Of The Dark?

Nope, but then again ‘Scared of the Dark’ is basically pop perfection. ‘Neon Blue’ runs it very close though, and there’s not a single dud on the album so I’d recommend you listen to it now!

The album is very worth much purchasing. Scared of the Dark is the best song on the album but as previously said, that is because its an excellent slice of pop. Neon Blue, Story of a Heart and Tears on the Dancefloor are just a few other amazing songs on the album. If you have purchased a Steps album before, this certainly wont disappoint.
What sort of Boost did the Strictly performance give 'Scared of the Dark' on iTunes? I was in the process of moving house at the time so couldn't follow it.

I remember seeing it at like 150.

Two versions of SOTD climbed into the 101-200 area, but sadly the top one didn't have the power to get into the Top 100!

Ultimately it sold enough to re-enter the sales-only chart at #86. So not a particularly good boost, although presumably the promo was beneficial for the album!

It's well passed gold so any sales from here on are a bonus,I really want to get the live cd when it comes out
The album is number 91 this week (so far) lets hope it can stay in the top 100 for at least this week.

I finally got the album (deluxe version) and it's just great! I was never really into Steps, back then I prefered S Club 7, A Teens or ATC more, but since there are no other pure pop acts around these days, I just enjoy Steps' new stuff. Biggest surprise on the album is "No More Tears On The Dancefloor". I liked the original, but had already forgotten it. Never thought anyone would cover it and Steps' version is so much better than the original.

I never knew it was a cover version. It's interesting how the comebacks of steps and s club 7 have gone so different,I think steps have truly surprised everyone with how successful their comeback has been.

It took me a moment to realize. At first I thought "No More Tears On The Dancefloor" just sounds like another song, then I remembered the original version. Here it is:

As if that’s a cover too, he’s absolutely awful.

Im hopiong to get a sales update on the album soon as we will be getting the best selling album post in the chart thread in the coming days.

The album should be close enough to 115,000 or 120,000 i would think at this point.

Hopefully when the sales kick in online and in shops, if the album gets a good price reduction it may pick up some further sales.

All in all, i think we can say the album campaign has been very successful for them and its success has surprised everyone.

Well done for Steps, pretty incredible that their album sold over 110,000 (so far), especially when you look at acts like Zayn Malik who had a huge #1 single and yet only managed 60,000 copies of their album (very Victoria Beckham dah-ling). What's even more impressive for Steps is that pretty much all of their copies are physical sales and not streamed sales, if they had the streaming power of current acts their sales would surely be a lot higher.

I hope this inspires them to continue as a band and record another album.
