I'm nbf surely she'd just sign on, yes it's a bit embarrassing and I know she's a strong stubborn woman but I'm sure she'd sign on rather than starve?!

Can you sign on if you quit? I thought you had to wait six months.

Yeah, I think I read on WalfordWeb that if you quit or are sacked for something that you've done wrong, you have to wait 26 weeks until you can sign on. If you've been sacked as in made redundant then you would be eligible.

Either way, they've gone from 0 to 100 with Denise's poverty storyline with her now resorting to eating from bins.

Nobody ever really signs on in EastEnders though. Newcomers can arrive in Walford and get a job without needing a CV or an interview in less than a week

I can't ever remember anyone going on Job Seekers Allowance when I used to watch EastEnders daily/weekly between the late 90's to early 10's. Even in more recent years I don't think that has ever happened, it's either you own multiple businesses across the square, or you just turn up out of the blue and get a job straight away, or you end up on the brink of homelessness.

One moment Denise looks frail and weak, about ready to collapse; the next she is dancing to Aretha Franklin doing the hoovering?
I think that's more to do with her looking forward to the prospect of Patrick returning as her demeanour changed completely when she found out he wasn't
I expect Denise will be looking in the bins tomorrow night for leftovers
But the way she was with her first scene with Kim suggested she was feeling the effects of barely eating for days so, excited to see Patrick or not, surely she'd still be feeling the same physically? I shouldn't be surprised, the Eastenders team don't seem to be paying any attention to detail with this Denise story.

I am going off Kim so much with each passing episode. Mainly stemmed for her being RUDE to Lady Di, no one bad mouths dogs.

Also how did they go from that harrowing/dark Louise moment last week to literally being DRAB AND NOTHINGNESS. Where is the fallout from that / why did they skip so much time by the time Friday's episode came. That episode demanded so much more following on from it :(

Kim has always been awful, honestly never saw even one modicum of appeal, she's possibly my least fave character in soap (apart from Fiz in Corrie who is untouchable). The fanwank over her at certain times is quite frankly laughable

I agree about Denise, clearly nothing and nobody is sacred in this period of EE :drama: With all the adoption stuff, Denise was basically the only reason to watch and mere months later her characterisation is as bad as anyone else's :/ Also agree about Louise's aftermath, I said to my housemate watching it "is that it" when on Friday it just cut to her in hospital, we both said we thought it'd be so much better if it carried straight on from Louise led there coughing up blood and Bex with her and we saw what happened with Sharon finding out etc., it just felt like they were so dramatic "will Louise die?!??!" and then it totally floundered by cutting out all that we wanted to see in favour of Maddison and Alexandra weasling their way out of trouble multiple times.

I am a Kim fan and she is one of the few things that is helping me stay with the show as i am struggling like others. Denise, great actress and so capable, but this current storyline i am so bored of. We have had the Carters for months going about money troubles and money struggles and now we have Denise aswell,it is so depressing to watch. Thankfully, Michelle has cheered up as i could not handle more of her whining. I know EastEnders has always had a reputation for been depressing which i have often disagreed with, but, i have to agree with such comments at the moment.

The aftermath of Madison and Alexandra getting Louise drunk was a total let down, but to be honest, i didnt expect anything else as the the conclusions to most storylines of late have been a total disappointment.

I was just thinking the other day, imagine the "you ain't my mother" cliffhanger and the next episode is a brand new day, Kat's gone AWOL and Zoe's woken up having gone to sleep wondering about what Kat had said. Then Kat returns, probably from a bender, then we start to see the repercussions. Any momentum or impact from the big cliffhanger is lost and any aftermath just doesn't pack the same punch. This one of the things SOC is doing really wrong. Every so often, he nails the cliffhanger but the next episode is a new day and we miss out on the direct fall out.
