Pleased to Devlin Top 10! Expecting it to drop but it could end up being his highest charting album - I hope it manages to stick around for a while as it's such a good release!

Shocked to see Thunder exceeding 8k already - it will be very front loaded but an incredible achievement for a band like them and will improve on the #9 placing of their last album.

Wow at Rag'N'Bone Man, totally unexpected. I was thinking maybe 40k for the week.

That is exciting though and shows that album sales don't have to be really dead if there is something that people really want to get excited about.

I hope Ciao Adios can debut top 40!!

I hope so but I think she will do a Imagine Dragons this Friday. :(

FYI, Rag'n'Bone Man's album actually climbs 151-1 - I assume there was some sort of leak last week?

Do they still have that rule where if a certain number of album tracks are available pre-release (as is the case with Rag 'n' Bone Man), then the album can actually chart based on the streams of the already available tracks?

I seem to recall Years & Years having a similar 150-1 type climb with Communion for the same reason.

It's a completely ludicrous rule, because you've got an album charting that isn't available in full, but it could be the reason behind this.

Now you mention it, that does ring a bell. I have a figure of like 20k worth of pre-release sales coming to mind in regards to Years and Years! If someone could shed some light, that'd be great.

I've not heard of this rule but a quick check of the current version of the Album Chart Rules has the following:

7.1 Instant Gratification Incentives

An Instant Grat mechanic run during an album pre-order will not disqualify the album pre-orders from contributing to the Chart position

I'm not sure what a "mechanic run" is so don't know if this is the rule you were thinking of. However there is a rule about how many tracks need to be available for streaming before any of the streams count as sales:

9.4 Album Availability

Streaming will only be factored into an album DUS where at least seven tracks (inclusive of singles) from an album are available to stream. This threshold will apply to the longest track listing available. Where an

albums fullest track listing comprises 5 or 6 tracks, 100% of tracks must receive >0 streams

That suggests that if only 4 tracks are available to stream then no streaming sales will be included. How many tracks had Rag 'n' Bone Man made available in advance for streaming (or possibly even downloading)?

Very impressive sales for Rag'n'Bone Man - was expecting it to be one that eventually racks up huge sales due to hanging around at the top of the chart all year but certainly didn't think he was going to get such a huge first week. An early contender to be #2 on the EOY chart I think (behind Ed Sheeran of course).
Opinions on where Cold will place? I expect it'll do a The Greatest and just miss out on top 40 before debuting high next week, what do we reckon? Realistically I can see it being around #50 this week.

50-60

why it would go top 40? was released today and has barely done anything, it's on 0.10 relative to Ed, so may have sold 600-800 copies today, sure less than 1,000... x 3 days, sure it's not enough to go anywhere near the top 75, plus won't have streams like most midweek releases

Rag'n'Bone Man is on 92k, will easily cross 100k

I mean, these are huge numbers for him. It's only Q1 and he has only had one hit ever.

Going to beat Little Mix?! :o

With ease - good on him!

It is looking like all the number 1 Album's in Q1 will appear in year end Top 100 (as per last year).

Human, Skin and Grace were either pre-album singles or grats. Wolves, Lay My Body Down, Life In Her Yet, Die Easy and Bitter End are all available on previous EPs and appear on the deluxe (some on the standard) version on the album.

So yes, that explains it, at least eight tracks were available to stream or purchase as of last week, therefore making the 19 track album eligible to chart...despite more than half of it not being available...ludicrous

there were 5 Grats from Rag n Bones album: Human, Skin, Grace, Odetta and Ego

"One Dance" needs to f*** off out of the top 40

Edited by Hadji

No one cares where "One Dance" is. We would care about it if it was out of the top 40

It's a climber so it's included in the update...
