No, Stormzy was down by 2.7k in the Thursday update but his winning margin was 3859 therefore his Sales were 6559 (approx) more than Rag 'N' Bone Man on Thursday, I don't think this was explained?

"Stormzy's album likely was purchased more as well on Thursday - I'm sure I saw there were £5.99 offers for it?"

Tbh I'm pretty sure all of the streaming sales are added to the album chart at the end of the week lol

Yes, it was £5.99 on Wednesday as well, a day when when Rag 'N' Bone outsold Stormzy by 3.4k.

For all the explanations above nobody has explained how Stormzy was outsold by 3.4k on Wednesday and yet somehow sold 6.5k more than Rag 'N' Bone Man on Thursday, the margin of turnaround is too big from the logic provided.

Maybe Stormzy and his dedicated hypeteam decided to just stream the sh!te out of the album in order to secure his number 1.

So between Thursday mids and the final chart on Friday there are effectively two day's streaming added: Wednesday's streams that should have been in the Thurs mids but weren't and the calculated estimate that replaces Thursday's streams. If it's true that the biggest streaming days are at the weekend then that implies that the fake Thursday streams will be a slight overestimate for most releases. If we presume there was also a last-minute rush of downloads on Thursday to help the album over the finish line (and I've done that myself in the past, although I didn't buy the Stormzy album) then it makes sense he could overcome a deficit, doesn't it?

Stormzy had 11K SES by Wednesday (which as usual had Tuesday's figure missing, so that's effectively Friday-Monday streaming; 4 days)

Today it was revealed the total was ~20.7K, (an additional 9.7K for the final 3 days of the chart week) therefore the majority of streams were not simply added in at the last minute, only those missing for the Thursday which by rough calculation would be around 3K.

If anything I thought the sudden increase in the sale for Human was a little odd (10K on Wednesday) which is why I predicted that Stormzy may just sneak the #1 and was not surprised by the result.

True but streams for Stormzy's Album for week accounted for 20,748 sales, don't forget we got the streaming percentage for Monday's update accounting for 19% (presumably without a days streams) courtesy of James Masterson ie approx 6,593 sales.

We have more information this week than usual, the percentage rose to 30% by the end of the week. We can explain this with a combination of the extra day's streams and the hype team's efforts but given the reported margins on Wed and Thu there is clearly an anomaly ( Stormzy only sold 5.8k on Wednesday when the campaign had all ready started and yet increased sales to 15k+ on Thursday).

So first 4 days streaming he averaged 2.75k streaming sales a day, then 3.2k for the last 3 days. Doesn't that support the argument that more streaming sales are added later in the week. I cant imagine an album released on a Friday would average more streams on the end of its first week, over its initial first 4 days that include the weekend, which is when we know streams are at their highest.

Streams are at their highest on Fridays granted, but with new releases the peak tends to be at the end of the first week/start of week 2 after the initial Friday curiosity surge. You'll see this on the singles chart too, Calvin had very little streaming at the start of the week but this increased dramatically late in the week even though the market falls away between Monday and Thursday.

Agreed and it makes no logical sense that 15k+ Sales were added on Thursday given the numbers being talked about , nobody has really explained what they think the breakdown of these Sales are, even a plausible approximation?

Apologies the SES for Wednesday were actually 13.2K - blame night shifts. : (

So an average of 3.3K for the first four days, and 2.5K for the final three.

Yes seems consistent with the James Masterson numbers from Monday as well.

Loving all the Stormzy's not getting played, and the good news all Ed tracks will get played next week

??? Because at least Ed is a good white boy who doesn't scare all the middle class ladies with 'gang culture'

Seriously WTF.

What? They likely skipped the Stormzy tracks due to not having appropriate edits, not an issue for the Ed songs..

My issue isn't with the fact that Stormzy got skipped and Ed won't (I understand that they couldn't be played due to radio edits not being available). My issue is with someone revelling in it. Just seemed particularly vindictive.

Or perhaps Martin just isn't a Stormzy fan :kink: I see no harm in being glad about that if so...

Yeah can we stop trying to make every little criticism of Stormzy become a battle of classes? I don't understand this notion that we should all fall over ourselves for Stormzy because he appeals to one class and are supposed to dislike Ed Sheeran because he appeals to another. Is it really that hard to believe that Stormzy's music might just not sound appealing to some people?

Really? I can't ever imagine that I would derive pleasure from something not being played. I can see why he would be happy Ed WILL be played but does it really make such a difference to someone's life for songs not to be played that they actively love this state of affairs? I just think it is prticularly telling when the songs in question represent a serious challenge to the norms of the Uk charts.

I think this is an exaggeration really. I know as a chart show listener that I was quite relieved not to have to sit through numerous Stormzy songs, because I've not enjoyed a single thing he's done so far. It didn't make a huge impact on my life and I wasn't revelling in it, but it made me enjoy the chart show that bit more because I was able to hear more music I liked instead.
