March 6, 20178 yr If Ed had released his album next week instead of this week Lorde would be currently sitting at #12. That is incredibly impressive as a new entry in the streaming era. I know blogs were hyped for her comeback but it really has translated.
March 6, 20178 yr I'm lost for words really it looks more like a mess. There won't much sales info on Friday apart from Ed Sheeran.
March 6, 20178 yr there's hope KP and Human climb into the top 10 come Friday and kick a couple Ed songs out :D but looks like he's safe for at least 7 songs in the top 10 :D
March 6, 20178 yr there's hope KP and Human climb into the top 10 come Friday and kick a couple Ed songs out :D but looks like he's safe for at least 7 songs in the top 10 :D Don't get your hopes up, there's a day of missing streaming as always and that'll favour the Ed songs :kink:
March 6, 20178 yr Author Only #5, #11 and #13 not Ed in the whole top 18. FYI, #11 is 'Human' and #13 is 'Chained to the Rhythm'.
March 6, 20178 yr Yeah, don't expect the Ed songs to slow down, his streaming is still extremely strong.
March 6, 20178 yr Apart from Adele, who else could debut with that many album sales in today's climate?
March 6, 20178 yr Not really into his music but I love a good chart shake up. Quite interested to see how this develops over the coming weeks.
March 6, 20178 yr The sight of that singles chart is truly insane, just wow :o I won't be boycotting the chart on Friday or whatever though as the new Ed album is strong. Impressive debut for Lorde factoring in all the Ed songs! Very pleased that it looks like a top 40 debut should be safe for 'Green Light'
March 6, 20178 yr Surely there is a way to count how many people have actually listened to the songs as an album or who have listened to them as songs? I'm all for the songs being in the chart if people have listened to them individually but its a joke to have them there when its purely because people have listened to the album. They're roughly in the album order, give or take a few slight discrepancies, which shows such a huge proportion of those 'sales' are from album listens. They should therefore only contribute to the album chart, why is it counted twice??
March 6, 20178 yr Truly ridiculous. I hope the OCC receive a ton of complaints so they have to do something about it.
March 6, 20178 yr I'm intrigued as to why Eraser is second lowest of the standard tracks, considering it opens the album. Lots of people skipping right past it then listening to the rest of the album in order? Maybe people just aren't into proper rap-mode Ed that much. Sales will be like 35k to break the top 20. No doubt records will be broken for many positions…
March 6, 20178 yr I'm surprised at Bibia Be Ye Ye being so low. Surely something with that ridiculous a title would be the first thing people would stream?
March 6, 20178 yr What a ridiculous state of affairs. More than anything else, I just feel bad for people like Lorde, Katy Perry etc. who have to settle for a much lower chart position just because Ed Sheeran decided to release an album.
March 6, 20178 yr Ed Sheeran, doing so well in all aspects. The sales of divide are incredible, but i am also impressed with his sales for his other 2 albums. He will certainly have 3 albums in the top 5 this week.
March 6, 20178 yr Irritated that Lorde and Martin Jensen will miss out on top 20 positions due to Ed, but what can you do. Lmao.
March 6, 20178 yr I'm 99.9% certain the OCC will change something btw, that's why I'm not TOO bitter over the whole state of affairs.
March 6, 20178 yr I'm 99.9% certain the OCC will change something btw, that's why I'm not TOO bitter over the whole state of affairs. I was thinking this too. It's like they want it to actually happen before they take action rather than be too cautious. Ed is likely to hold a record that is unlikely to be beaten too, unless loopholes are found and exploited but not sure how or why they'd do that.
March 6, 20178 yr Ed will be playing Top 20 Bingo this week with the hope of completing the full House of Top 20 peak positions in his career, he just needs 6, 10, 11, 14, 16, 17, 19, 20 (I am including the peak positions he had of 7 and 12 as a featured artist). Wonder if there are any Artists that have achieved that before.
