Not only that, I'm pretty sure the only bands to have #1 singles in 3 consecutive decades are Take That (though the 3rd decade doesn't have all members) and The Bee Gees. If anyone knows of any other band let me know!

Blondie!! :cheer:

S Club 7 had a few bigger selling/probably more 'classic' singles but Steps were far bigger album sellers and a way more successful touring act.

What about Queen? They had number ones in the 70's, 80's and 90's right?

Queen had a number 1 single in the 70's, 80's, 90's and 00's (if you consider their work with Five). :o

To be honest I'd say that S Club 7 and Steps were on a level pegging in terms of popularity. Both regularly churned out top 5 singles and albums as well as number ones.

How did I forget them!! Facepalm!

And I loved Maria when it came out in 1999 lol!

And Queen I missed as well! I'm bad!

Still if they get it, they would be joining quite an epic list!

Louisa doing rather badly. So Good was top 10 by now!

Second singles never do as well initially as lead singles though.

S Club 7 did have the successful Miami 7 and L.A. 7 television series though. And Hollywood 7 IIRC. Plus they spawned the S Club Juniors/8 and therefore two fifths of The Sats. I agree that both bands were hugely successful in their own right however. Maybe because I was born in '94 I can remember the S Club phenomenon more.
Ha Snap!

Snap! only had number ones in the 90's

:kink:

I didn't see that coming, Steps at #1, its like when Ant & Dec went to #1, pretty convenient been on the Ant & Dec show tomorrow.
And I thought the UK chart would never make me smile again. Go on Steps, get a good hit out of this.
