Because we need a Pixar movie to get excited about this year that isn't Cars 3.

Looks just as wonderful as every other Pixar movie. EXCITED!!

 

Beginning to get more excited for this now *-* The visuals look amazing and I love the Día de Los Muertos theme too. The jaw dropping skeleton visual joke made me laugh too :heehee:

Looking much better than Cars 3 does. It'll be a film for everyone to watch.

 

 

The release will be accompanied by 'Olaf's Frozen Adventure' with Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad returning to their respective roles for the short.

I saw this on the weekend and loved it. I came out weeping!

 

Admittedly I thought it was a bit weak at the start, story-wise, and it felt a bit...nothingy. But as it went on it got richer and more exciting. The second half and especially the third act were thrilling.

I enjoyed the film although I was gutted that there was no short film (second Pixar film since Toy Story not to have a short film) before the main feature and I also tried not to cry towards the end scene

It did have a short, in the US. It had Olaf's Frozen Adventures. But that received it's own theatrical release over the Christmas period over here.

Another brilliant film to add to the long list for Pixar (I think I'd rank it behind only Inside Out of all of their films since the turn of the decade *.*). It genuinely got a round of applause from my screening once it finished!! As expected from Pixar by now, it really pulls at your heartstrings. I was almost in tears when Miguel starting singing to Mama Coco at the end and she joined in :cry: Perhaps not the funniest Pixar movie to date but it certainly had its moments too, I cackled out loud when Miguel's abuela told him to get a get her shoe :lol:

 

Remember Me is such a gorgeous little song too, I hope it snatches an Oscar nomination in Original Song tomorrow ! (Although the win still needs to go to Mystery of Love plsssss) :wub:

Loved this. Yet again stunning animation and a fantastic story. It really made me think about life after death. It really impresses me just how consistent Pixar are. 18/19 films and only 2 that I'm not fond of ('Cars 2' & 'Brave') the others I could happily stick on again at some point.

 

Edit: The ending was stunningly done.

I did love the ending from singing to Mama Coco onwards, it was so sweet and made it all worth it. I also applaud Pixar for doing something different and the animation was stunning, but overall I found the movie to be just OK. I don't feel I connected with the story or characters quite as much as the likes of Inside Out, Up, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc and Toy Story so I'm not seeing it as a Pixar classic.

 

Also, I guess I was enjoying "Remember Me" more at the end but before that I wasn't thinking much of it. Better not beat "This Is Me" for the Oscar..

I saw this the other day, beautiful, I definitely let out a few tears at that ending :heart: more of this, less sequels please Pixar

This was incredible and moving

 

Surprised to read people didn't connect to the characters or relate to the story. It was great to learn more about Día de Muertos and beyond that the film is really about family and death.

 

Family is more important than anything else in your life.

 

Family should support you no matter what.

There was a time when Pixar had not had any duds and Cars/Bug's Life were seen as their duds despite both being solid 7/10s. Then during the Cars 2, Brave, Monster's University time, quality looked like it was noticeably dipping. But even though they're slightly more hit and miss than they used to be, they keep bringing it back with amazing films like Inside Out and Coco, so there must be lots of life in Pixar yet. Also Cars 3 was surprisingly not too bad. Here's my updated ranking:

I feel like Bug's Life is slept on, I haven't watched it in years but I always loved it!

Also, went to see this yesterday and what a film! So well made and very touching. Up there with the best.

Maria Ramirez, the grandmother who inspired Pixar's Mama Coco, died at the age of 109 on October 16th. :cry:

R.I.P. and 109 is a very good age to live to
