I don't think a lot of his fans are old enough to work

I think the song's appeal stretches further than teenage girls in all fairness :magic:

Plus these teenage girls that grew up with One Direction, will be about 16/17 now, so...
Yeah - not one person has put Sign Of The Times on their Snapchat story whereas I've seen multiple people put the new JP Cooper and Chainsmokers tracks on their story, just shows that it it'll probably be a track that appeals to the older audience more than anyone else ~

It's hardly like the song is "Just Hold On", it's very mature and contemporary and women of all ages loved 1D - they just didn't go cuckoo-bananas like the obsessive fans did.

Caroline Flack is a good example ;)

I know it's popular but Harry Styles' song just seems like a poor impersonation of Bowie. It's so incredibly derivative. It's all well and good being inspired by others but copy cat music is not the way to do it.

I thought the same when I listened to it... exceedingly self indulgent

I agree with the copycat Bowie feeling, he needs to find his own distinctive sound not be a copy of others if he truly wants to have a log career.

Harry could have a great career chopping wood tbh

I get the Bowie comparisons entirely but I don't really see how it's "self indulgent", it's just very clearly inspired by the likes of Bowie and Oasis. It's a pretty bold choice of debut single, he could've easily scored a hit with a generic tropical song or something.

I hear Oasis more than Bowie as well. I'm not really massively sold on it on first listen, I do appreciate what he's doing though and it'll likely grow on me a bit.

Shame for him that the song is turning into such a massive flop though... already dark red on Kworb...

The cliche of declaring a song a flop on day of release - shortly to be followed by declaring it a joke!

The irony of saying a song sounds like Oasis when Oasis were accused of being influenced by The Beatles.

This.

To me, finding amusement in that is pretty much nursery level mentality.
