Sooo what happens to postal votes???

That is AWFUL and obviously an attempt to replicate US voter suppression victories for the right wing.

The Tory manifesto is hardly bad, infact I'm actually relatively surprised by it. There a couple of points I disagree with (mainly voting ID being compulsory). But targeting rich Pensioners is a start and getting rid of the triple lock. There does not seem to be much substance to it, which is a slight worry - and I don't think there is enough investment in to the NHS. But this manifesto really does seem to be targeting the Centre voters.

Have seen lots of stuff about the free school meals being scrapped - I'd love to see the statistics of the uptake currently.

No way - a government job brings a lot more stability/security than a private sector job!

Nah, those days are gone. Ive sat through wave after wave of redundancies since the late 80's, and having been hatcheted and privatised and bought back in house again and again and again since then we are now losing another 20% of the workforce, I cant speak for every council, of course, just mine and the ones my friends work for. We've all had to reapply for our own jobs, been downgraded (or upgraded), taken on what used to be the work of 2 or 3 posts at no extra financial benefit (just extra stress). My private sector friends have about the same degree of stability, but seem to be more employable after being let go and get MUCH better wages...

I think the Tories manifesto promises on reforming social care are great, especially the fact that the winter fuel payment is to be means tested. About time. Also I'd go a step further and say free bus passes for over 60's shouldn't be given to people still in full time work. They can afford their fares.

They aren't reforming social care. We already have to sell houses to pay for your own care, all she's saying is she'll wait till you are dead before owning your house. That already happens while family live in it anyway. Winter fuel means testing is another Tory Rag hating stolen non-Tory policy which they will now love, how shocking!

Bus passes you have to be 65, though in London you get em at 60. Maybe other places, but in areas less metropolitan it's 65. Most people will still use their cars in those areas, until they can't actually physically drive and are forced to use local transport, or are too poor to afford a car in the first place.

ITV have their "leaders" debate this evening. Anyone planning to place a bet on May wrong-footing Corbyn by turning up unannounced?

I'd rather put money on them having a stand-in parrot taught to say "Strong & Stable, sqwauk!"

If you are among the least well-off, this could be the last time you can afford to vote...

well it's worked beautifully in disenfranchising poor black voters in the States and we always seem to get what happens there 5 years on. Presumably this means Prime Minister Piers Morgan in 2022...

Why are the best politicians the ones we can't even vote for
Literally just here for Leanne Wood saying 'Wales'

Legit same

LMAOOOO all of them just side eyeing Paul Nuttall

Just saw this. A big no thank you to the step further. My dad is turning 60 this year and is still working full time. Once he turns 60 he'll be saving ~£1500 a year (live in London) which'll be a massive help. A lot of older people working full time barely get by. The free bus pass is a great thing as it allows them some breathing room financially and to start saving.

Why did no one tell me it was tonight?! Heard nothing about it at my campaign office today, which probably just shows how irrelevant it's become with the two main ones stepping aside :/

I need to get on to see alleged Nuttall bashing.
