Yeah personally I've seen more hype for Bad And Boujee over time, but I do know people that like The Cure who're in totally different circles to those that like Bad And Boujee so overall it's a bit of a hard comparison to make.

It's subjective really, everyone has different social experiences so you can't really determine which has been more popular.

I don't think becoming a meme necessarily equates to popularity, and it can be explained quite easily by how huge it's been in the US too I guess!
I have never heard this Lady Gaga song either on purpose or by accident so it cant be that huge of a song despite getting to #1 on iTunes not too long ago.

Yes, this is exactly how hits are measured...

Seriously it's been out for just over 2 weeks

Even the current #1 on the Official Chart from Clean Bandit I've only heard about once or twice. It's either that as well is not a massively huge song or I've just completely shut myself off from the charts.

Tbh I hadn't heard You Don't Know Me by Jax Jones in public until it a few weeks after it had peaked so it just shows that our own personal experiences in no way reflect a songs overall popularity.

(therefore proving that the charts are indeed the most accurate reflection of popularity :P)

Must be the latter because Symphony is a huge hit on both downloads and streams...

Just what I was about to say - of course you'll have heard Bad & Boujee more because it's been around 4 months longer

But for it to be a huge hit on download and streams would mean that people have gone out of their way to listen to or buy this song.

I'm thinking about songs that you hear a lot by accident. A good example is Human by Rag'N'Bone Man, I don't particularly like this song but I've heard it so many times and it has been used for just about everything. Even my mum knows this song and she hasn't got a clue about newer music

And they clearly have :P

My mum is undoubtedly much more familiar with Human than the likes of Symphony, The Cure, etc (no matter how many times I play them in the car ) because it's the kinda thing she likes. Some songs you hear around and about, some you don't, but that doesn't necessarily match up with what does well in the charts, it's just a tiny way of consuming music. Not hearing a song out in public doesn't mean it can't be massively popular, hence why we have the charts.

Yeah exactly, if I didn't read this forum I probably wouldn't know she had a song out!

tbh Human is a bad example as it's very diverse in terms of the fans it attracts - it's got that retro, indie feel to it which probably appeals to everyone's parents! (also it's been hammered by contemporary radio :kink:)

Not all that surprising if you're not a Gaga fan tbf :magic:

Human has also been on tv shows / adverts so some people who don't listen to music generally know it that way.
For example, I'd argue that Bad & Boujee has felt a lot bigger than the new Lady Gaga single.

 I remember you saying something quite a while ago about Soulja Boy being more relevant than Lady Gaga or something. I'm not taking the piss when I say you do amuse me

39. Body (feat. Migos) - Sean Paul

This is actually quite the tune :o

 09. Attention - Charlie Puth

 12. No Promises (feat. Demi Lovato) - Cheat Codes

 I remember you saying something quite a while ago about Soulja Boy being more relevant than Lady Gaga or something. I'm not taking the piss when I say you do amuse me

Personally I do hear 'Crank That' more than any Gaga song but again that's probably just me! I'm sure I said before that Jeremih was bigger.

I do agree the Sean Paul/Migos track is good though, it's growing on me after expecting something more instant.
