Despacito certainly not but I think the Khaled track would be huge regardless. Maybe not racing up the iTunes charts quite as fast but it would be a powerhouse on streaming with its One Dance similarities.

Would people really be loving I'm The One and Despacito so much if Justin Bieber didn't feature?! I think not  The public are such sheep it's unreal.

clearly it's been Bieber that's pushed Despacito to the next level since the Bieber-less version had been available for months and done barely nothing in the UK

I don't see much similarity between "I'm The One" and "One Dance" other than the main audience they'd appeal to... ITO is 81 BPM, OD is 105 BPM for a start, that's a considerable difference.

Oh absolutely - Bieber's name means everything. "Cold Water" featuring say, Conor Maynard, would have struggled to even go top 10 let alone to number 1 for 5 weeks.

All of DJ Khaleds other songs did absolutely nothing and I'm The One isn't that radio friendly really. It's literally just due to Bieber imo.

And I wouldn't be surprised if he has the top 2 sewn up for a few weeks (7 to 10 weeks) with I'm The One ahead of Descapito

Bieber's name power has definitely increased the exposure for both Despacito and I'm the One but people aren't guaranteed to like it with his name alone, he had a collaboration with Post Malone last year and aside from a top 75 debut in week 1, that sunk without trace. Sure, Bieber's name boosted it but it's proof that not EVERYTHING Bieber does is an instant hit and these two seem pretty popular regardless.
DJ Snake's "Let Me Love You" which was a cherrypicked album track initially featuring Bieber is another example.

I thought 'Let Me Love You' got pushed as a single as soon as it got released as it was obviously written with the intent of it being a massive hit.

Yeah, Let Me Love You was pushed as a single from release.

You could argue the 'public are sheeps' case with any other artist tbh, even if a track does have Bieber on it shouldn't devalue its 'hit' status solely because he's on it - if the song wasn't good then the public wouldn't buy and stream it.

The new Katy is amazing!

I love the new Fall Out Boy.

I'm on my first play of DJ Khaled and it is sounding fab!

The new Vamps is ok but it is no I Found A Girl

It makes me feel sick tbh.

Absolute sheeple who ALLLLLL hated him and said he was gross, ew Beiber, a joke, a wannabe, suddenly Allll love him at the same time and conveniently forget they ever hated him? Unreal.

Yeah you've got a point there.

Half a decade ago Bieber was the least cool thing on the planet yet now he's unstoppable. God knows why.

In all fairness Bieber's last album was very much on trend and "cool" in sound, the music speaks for why people have done a 180 on him really.

Are musicians not allowed to change and develop as artists? he's always been popular (whether he was credible or not is another argument) but he definitely changed his sound with 'Purpose' and went on from there. I'd understand if he was churning out something like 'Baby' and was this successful, but he's growing with his fanbase (which is where a lot of artists go wrong imo) and pulling in more casual listeners too

His name alone isn't enough to get any random chart hit, hasn't he done quite a lot of random features which never really picked up after initial fanbase buys? DJ Khaled (for whatever reason) is getting more popular, Lil Wayne has a solid fanbase, Chance & Quavo are growing as artists and have small but dedicated fanbases and ofc with this debuting so high, it caught Capital's attention, so airplay will start from there.

The should have probably pushed Million Reasons (The Andrelli Remix) outside US for Lady Gaga. It probably would have performed a lot better
like Summertime Sadness. At least The Cure is doing a bit better

Nope. All his recent random features have been huge hits. His name alone is definitely enough nowadays.

That's my point. Surely his name would be able to make even the non-mainstream songs into some form of hit?

Nah. Therefore proving the point that public aren't 'sheeps' to the extent people on here make out.

If a song is good and catchy enough it'll be a hit, but they won't just catch on to any old crap. Despacito and I'm The One are good tracks in their own right, that's why they're big.
