Even charting on the Hot 100 is a big deal in the US! The way their chart is compiled is ridiculous like a song can be top 40 on iTunes and not even get to #100

This is where I was coming from. In terms of charts surely the way charts work now is the eventual peak is more important, no?

Can this bullshit "Fourth Harmony" please STOP. It's irritating af to see and most importantly, it's not even remotely humorous! :rolleye: They're called FIFTH Harmony. Deal with it.

I'm calling them Fourth Harmony and that's final. Deal with it.

The pop mods are hereby kindly asking you to call them by their name or not mention them at all. It's very tiring to see, especially since it's clear you don't like them as much. So please stop

Compare it to where the likes of Boss and Sledgehammer went. They only had one bit of promo too and airplay hasn't kicked off yet.
All I knew for possible promo was the iHeartRadio Summer Pool Party and the video release but other than that it feels a bit too silent. :P

It's pretty impressive given "Down" has barely had any airplay in the first ten days.

To clarify: from what I've noticed in the UK, chart positions tend to gravitate towards streaming and sales because radio doesn't seem to do much in the scope of things. The US has several more formats and a comparably insurmountable amount of radio stations per format, so airplay ends up playing a significant role on BillBoard. It explains why some songs in the US tend to stick around the charts longer than they should be because either they haven't peaked on radio yet or they're losing airplay too slowly (and also explains why most of Ed's album tracks debuted lower than the UK upon release).

To compare with Work From Home:

Airplay:

32 24 FIFTH HARMONY Work From Home 3743 1641 2102 22.610

54 39 FIFTH HARMONY Down f/Gucci Mane 1253 390 863 7.469

WFH had a successful radio deal and was still mopping up big updates after the rolling effect, while Down hadn't entered the previous Sunday (which is the cutoff for radio).

It's still early days. Us Harmonizers shouldn't be panicking until it's around mid-August and it hasn't gone anywhere.

also can we not bring this little mix fifth harmony "beef" shit here like all we want to do is listen to music jesus christ

Well yes, because airplay doesn't count towards our chart. :P

Although our airplay chart seems to move faster than yours, Shape Of You is as low as #9 on British airplay!!!

They tried to get a safe and easy Spotify hit but it has kinda backfired :/

I don't think it's over for them just yet, they could easily have a hit with the right song. Playing it safe doesn't work out all the time!

Definitely, and it's due to the fact that are so many more stations here in the US. The UK has two major stations that basically determine the airplay charts (and happen to be pretty proactive) while we have hundreds. Makes it a lot harder for a few proactive stations to generate movement on our overall chart.

I agree that it's too early to tell how this will do. I will say that I don't think Fifth Harmony went into this release in as good of a place as some here are saying, so I wasn't surprised that Down didn't enter Top 20 or even Top 40 on either chart. They had one massive hit on each of their albums while the rest were really minor hits and probably already forgotten. Coming off the back of two minor hits, the latter peaking at #73 in the US (despite only being the third single), and losing their highest profile member was going to set them back a bit.

How are we NOT discussing this? The shade! Love it. But also those splits! Love it.

am i the only one who thinks that shade at the start was just unnecessary??? like as laughable as it was.... just why?!

Nah I agree, why on earth did they get so shitty in the Sun interview over them asking about Camila and then do that last night do that? I'm starting to think that rather than Camila being a Beyonce sort of diva, I feel like they were the Mean Girls and didn't make her feel great about being in the group which only woud have exasperated her solo ambitions.

That was their best performance I've seen for sure anyway but I totally agree that it was laughable that Down won best pop video... It was the worst in that category. But the winners overall were kind of awful, I think ALessia Cara for Scars and 21p for heavydirtysoul were the only one I agreed with. Well, I can't speak on Kendrick wining everything as I'm not sure I have even seen that video lmao

'Down' winning best Pop video was a joke  but I'd expect nothing less when it was a fan voted award, Fifth Harmony have many crazy rabid fans on Twitter. (should've been the excellent 'Chained To The Rhythm' vid </3)

Their performance was decent at least

I'm a huge 5H Stan but no way should Katy be robbed of best video - it was a work of art and so thought provoking!
