Surely the chart position isn't important, the money raised is?

Well yes, but this is the iTunes chart thread and we're celebrating it's success.

It wasn't about making it no 1 in the official charts.

 

It was to get it to no 1 on iTunes and other digital sites, as a tribute and mark of respect for the fans that lost their lives.

Without meaning to sound like Kobbar, maybe they should have launched their media campaign with "download it from Friday"?

I think because the song was already climbing fast anyway, it's that which really encouraged the campaign to get it to #1; a sort of 'strike while the iron's hot' approach. I imagine it'll be helpful to have such a lead come Friday when the new releases start charting and the weekend effect comes into practice.

But we're specifically referring to the media campaign regarding pushing it to #1?

YES! Come on 'One Last Time' :wub: Where do we think it'll chart tomorrow? Hopefully they mention that the profits are going to the victims families before they play it, and getting people behind it.

I read on ATRL the new single might not be released tomorrow after all, because of the title "Homemade Dynamite", which is insensitive for obvious reasons. But I guess we'll see.

You couldn't make this stuff up. It would be incredibly insensitive if she actually released a song with that title tomorrow, I'm sure they'll either delay it or go with a different single.
