North Belfast. I've never had an address in England, although come the next General Election, that may be different.

No, that is the electorate answwr. The REAL answer is right there in the article. Of everyone, including those who can cannot due to work, or won't as the press have convinced them t here's no chance, or forget, etc Labour is the clear winner.

I hate to tell you this, but the electorates answer is the only one that matters

But again it shows who is REALLY popular.

No - the party that gains most MP's is, by definition, the most popular.

Popular policies are not necessarily *practical* policies. Offering to pay everyone in the country a million pounds would be extremely popular, but not remotely practical!

The majority of people should have a polling station close to where they live. There's no excuse of "I can't vote because I work" for the average person. The REAL answer will be down to what the people who voted decide. Popularity contests don't mean anything if people don't vote. The electorate answer will be the one we'll find out early tomorrow morning.

Exactly, there is no excuse to not vote. If you're disabled for example, or you know you're gonna be away or busy, you get a postal vote. Anyone who doesn't vote can't like Labour or care that much. I'd rather someone voted Tory, UKIP or bloody BNP than flat out didn't vote, whatever your opinion is you should use your voice. I can't believe can be so apathetic about who runs their lives and the lives of those around them that they care about.
No, the REAL answer is who the MOST say they prefer in polling such as this. Just like in the US, there are things that turn people, usually more left wing, away from voting - the press propaganda rags promising landslides encourage apathy, just for STARTERS. Labour is more popular.
North Belfast.

There is projected to be a big battle for the seat there apparently between SF and the DUP, even with the UUP not in the race to take votes from the incumbent DUP there.

Well the BBC has being covering a lot recently how the race has got much tighter according to the polls so hopefully that will discourage apathy.

Just thought I heard you say you lived over there.

I assume it'll be close between Dodds & Finicane?!

Indeed. The UUP didn't stand there last year, and Sinn Fein have a very high profile candidate in John Finucane, the son of a prominent lawyer was murdered by loyalists during the Troubles. He's the sort of candidate that would have made a great nationalist unity candidate if such a thing were to happen. Many people were disappointed he decided to run under the Sinn Fein banner.

Yeh John Finucane is standing for SF and people seem to think he could get more middle class voters - he's the son of a solicitor shot during the troubles who stood for republicans - he was shot by loyalists but many believe it was the state who helped.

You can win the popular vote without winning the most seats.

it's unlikely I'll admit but you're still wrong

ISTM you're trying to make a purely academic point?

I've looked it up, and 1951 was the last time a party won a majority without the highest share of the popular vote.
