Opening weekend confirmed for me that united will win the league and fairly well too - Chelsea seem different this year, Spurs will do alright but top 4 again is an achievement, Liverpool are the same as last year, need a decent defensive coach as well as a proper defensive midfielder, Arsenal will challenge for the top 4, City will be top 2 but aren't good enough at the back without Kompany!

West Ham are pretty shite, I don't think you can read too much in to the victory. Signed some good players who were top of their game 5 years ago! All of the Top 6 will be there or thereabouts, but West Ham will struggle this year. Pretty sure Man Utd won their first 3 games last year pretty comfortably. Opening day games are always strange.

Yeah I kinda agree with Roo. You cannot take anything from this weekend. I mean bloody Huddersfield are second in the league!!!

West Ham were clearly not firing on all cylinders. However this was the type of fixture we dropped point at last year so we need to keep this type of home performance rolling.

I stand by my prediction lol, the confidence of Jose and his lack of picking fights with the media are another sign he feels happy with his lot, a dangerous situation for the rest.

West Ham aren't bad, if they don't finish top 12 I will be shocked/ability will have to go.

Heard about the security situation at OT from a friend who said he had to be there that early - was the same in June when I went to see Ireland - no bags allowed anymore.

I was there the recommended hour before and got in no worries but I heard as it got close to kick off it was mental. Place was so much busier than normal an hour before so a lot of people seemed to take the advice
The last time Brighton got into the top tier they lost their first match at home to Arsenal 4-0. I remember it well as I was there. Yesterday's result, a mere 2-0 defeat was twice as good :D

First day of the season and all that - ques into the Irish league game I was at too!

It was a fantastic win and performance for Man United yesterday but I'm not going to get carried away. I heard Robbie Savage tip us for the title on the radio yesterday and Ian Wright also said something similar on 606 but it's just one game so far. We won our first 3 matches of the season last year and then we lost to Man City our league results went downhill from there on, for me it's from November onwards when the table really starts to take shape so if we are there or thereabouts by November then I will start to believe more but top 4 at least is a definite for us I would say.

It's ridiculous how people have been laying into Chelsea over the weekend because they lost their first game of the season to Burnley, I've seen people saying that they will finish 10th again but they forget that all it takes is a winning run of matches and then you're at the top or near the top which is what happened to them last season.

Ok maybe time to get a little excited. Still playing the dregs of the PL but that 3 goals in like 3-4 minutes was utterly f***ing mental/magical. We really missed that killer instinct this past few seasons. Even through extra time you could see we wanted that 5th goal. We've scored 8 goals in 2 games. That's a remarkable turn around from a team that scored 54 all year last year.

I still think a winger would be a strong addition so we don't spend so much time trying to go through the middle.

Certainly seems like you've found the back of the net. Worrying! But then I tell myself Swansea and West Ham are shite.

The problem Man Utd will face is against the bigger teams, those 10 games are what leads me to think Man Utd won't win the title as I don't think they will win enough.

That's some alternative facts. Our issue last year was never against the rest of the top 6. We bullied out draws where we perhaps didn't deserve them. However what let us down was far too many draws against the dregs of the PL. We didn't kill off enough teams like WH and Swansea.
A poor performance from Arsenal against Stoke, cost me a five-fold in football.

Don't think a Mourinho team will struggle against top teams - he knows how to set things up. United will be top this season - Lukaku is what they needed and Matic is just woah! Swansea really are poor this year especially without Gilfys assists and goals - may be goners but Clement is a decent manager so it won't be against united when their important battles are.

Interested to see how Everton do this year - some good additions. And want to see what happens with Coutinho - need to spend the cash wisely.

Arsenal are usually awful at Stoke. No way I would fancy them at the Britannia, not surprised they got beat.

They set up not to lose - which is OK sometimes, but who knows this year. It's early days, I remember people handing Man City the title in September and look how that turned out.

Can't see us selling Coutinho. If Barce pay £120m then maybe (and in an actual lump sum). But we need signings, no way he goes without us signing players. There will be mass uproar and rightly so.

Should have looked at their record before doing the bet. Could be a very long season for Brighton.

I think they will find some rhythm, they have had a tough start, especially when Mahrez decides to show up to get his move away from the club.

Think Watford will surprise a lot of people this year.

Brighton's season will be just as long as every other club's :P A lot of teams with no recent top flight experience struggle in the first few games so I'm not panicking yet. After all, at this stage of the season teams should be judged against reasonable expectations. In Brighton's case that is one point so a total of zero isn't far short of that.
