August 5, 20177 yr sidenote: I don't suppose anyone still has Rosanna 'Gameboy' hidden away on their itunes, or can even find it anyhwere online? It's such a GEM of a song, but i literally cannot find it anywhere!! :( I do!! PM link coming your way
August 5, 20177 yr Author My revised league table: 1. All My Life - Chart Music 9.9 2. Someone Like You (Live) - Adele 9.7 3. The Girl And The Robot - Royksopp 9.6 4. Sadness Is A Blessing - Lykke Li 9.55 5. Halcyon - Delphic 9.5 6. Not A Love Song - Uh Huh Her 9.4 7. Psycho - Sheelah 9 8. The Show - Lenka 8.9 9. Video Games - Lana Del Rey 8.8 10. Love Song - Sarah Bareilles 8.7
August 5, 20177 yr Author 41. Fljotavik - Youth - Foxes We have now reached 2012. Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen was entered three months before it got to no.1 but it could only finish in 6th place. Foxes won by just 7 points with Look Back by Tone Damli in 2nd place for Ashton and Prance Faris' Flares in 3rd place for FSR Rontvia. I think I have probably heard this song before but it's still fairly new to me. I like the production with lots of different instruments being utilised and the unpredictability of where the song is going next. I notice there's quite a big gap between 9.4 and 9 in my top 10 so this slots in nicely with a score of 9.2. Youth reached no.12 in the UK but not until 2013 and I see it is currently being judged in the Record Of The Decade poll so it's still quite popular on here. 9.2 out of 10. sx0x5aRPhgk
August 5, 20177 yr Yay, glad you liked it! I can't pretend that I love it now as much as I did at the time but I do still think Youth is a decent pop track, plus it was my first winner here so it holds a special place in my heart for that reason. I still prefer the original version to the 2013 single mix though. At the time it was all about Ashton and I recall being really surprised when Foxes won. Edited August 5, 20177 yr by dandy*
August 5, 20177 yr Youth is STUNNING, i'm not surprised you don't like it the same dandy* after her chart success and the compromised single mix but at the time it would've been SUCH an impressive discovery (almost overtaken by the fact you nearly got 'clarity' sent had it not been for umiiruka!)
August 5, 20177 yr yeah the original version of Youth is a beauty  one of the best winners imo really like the 3rd placed 'Flares' too
August 5, 20177 yr Youth was a beauty  I wasn't in the contest at the time, but I wouldn't have actually expected it to win. The next contest would be my debut/start of my epic run of failures! Despite this, the run up to the 50th had some classic winners.
August 5, 20177 yr This track will forever remind me of my two years working at Debenhams and nothing else. I must have heard it at least 10 times a day, every day... It is a fantastic track but I have no desire to ever play it again. Flares <3 What a huge track that was *.* Tone Damli is pretty much tipped to win every time she's entered, yet the victory still eludes her...one day! Edited August 5, 20177 yr by gooddelta
August 5, 20177 yr That was such a stunning top 3. 41 was such a high quality final even my first three commiserations were 12/10/8 worthy!
August 5, 20177 yr What is really strange is that even I associate Youth with Rich having to hear it about 10 times a day when he worked for Debenhams! :D Oh and I'm really surprised at the continued love for the track from those comments, surprised but kinda chuffed  Edited August 5, 20177 yr by dandy*
August 5, 20177 yr 'Youth' is a great track and I was pleasantly surprised that it held off Tone Damli (we all thought she was going to win), my favourite that contest was the song that finished in 3rd though, 'Flares' is up with the best BJSC discoveries for me. edit: this was the version that won, by the way - before it got remixed for the charts. fqmdCH8U4zA
August 5, 20177 yr The original version of Youth is just quite magical, it's always the version I listen to whenever I do. Even though I didn't point it at the time, it was very close and it just grew on me throughout the rest of that year. Wonderful contest though, with that and Flares, and a whole host of great pop songs throughout the rest of the final.
August 6, 20177 yr Author 42. Botanikka - Colours - Emma Hewitt Australian Emma Hewitt won a very close contest, finishing just two points ahead of Elen Levon, representing Ashton with Like A Girl In Love. Some Die Young by Laleh was 3rd for Tinnmark. Colours is a beautiful song which she sings so well. It reminded me of Enya. There's something missing for me,though. I would have liked it to build up to more of a climax. 8.2 out of 10. xvO3UkXP4Bk
August 7, 20177 yr Awe , I still love Colors the same way I did it when I sent it...if not more now considering it is my only winning song
August 7, 20177 yr Author 43. Numayania - Let It Go - Dragonette Previous winners Eric Saade,Eva Simons and Katharine McPhee were all back but only Katharine made the final and she finished 2nd from bottom. Instead, there was another close finish with Dragonette winning a tie-break by 26 votes to 24. I thought the runner-up,iamamiwhoami,might be a spam word banned on here but that's what they're called. They represented Eledan with 'Play'. Ghosts by Laura Welsh was 3rd for Syndare. Let It Go is a perky electro pop song. Dragonette are,of course,in the current BJSC final. 7.8 out of 10. 3KsPIJK17uk
August 7, 20177 yr Play really should have won that contest, for it to lose out on a tie was gutting!
