September 16, 20177 yr I forgot my votes for this but I remember them being so misguided :P I think this was before I paid attention to the general scheme of the competition. It's a decent winner for sure. A bit too niche at times but it sounded pretty good! Persephonia have sent much better tracks in the upcoming contests though. I think my entry as a debut was a bit "testing the waters" and it didn't do that well in retrospect, but it's still a cool track. It did kinda pave the way for future entries, they were anthemic and it was bridging the gap between hipster and mainstream.
September 17, 20177 yr Author 75. Kylienips - Sorry - Meg Myers Amongst the entries this time were future top 5 hit You Don't Own Me by Grace and Daphne and Celeste's comeback single,You And I Alone, but it was Meg Myers who triumphed by a huge 66 point margin with You by Etienne De Crecy and Madeline Follin in 2nd place for Espen and CamelPhat's Paradigm 3rd (#00274E). This was ever present Kylienips first win at the 75th attempt. The sound of Meg Myers taking deep breaths in between each line on the verses was a bit distracting but I like the bridge and especially the big chorus with its wall of sound. This is a good pop/rock song. 9 out of 10. Ym1J5IAk2P4
September 17, 20177 yr Never got that entry (didn't feel like a winning contender to me until everyone seemed to love it) but it was great seeing Mikey's efforts finally being rewarded with a victory. The rest of that top 3 was amaazing too so I'd have taken those over Sorry (and Espen still hasn't won to date! :drama:)
September 18, 20177 yr Author 76. Aquafina - Easy Love - Sigala Christine and the Queens,Anne-Marie and Tame Impala all finished in the middle of the pack while Awa was 11th but this appears to be a different Awa to the one who won BJSC74. Sigala won with a record points score of 477, 118 points ahead of Play My Drum by Sandra Lyng (Tinnmark). Kove's Hurts was 3rd for Aeroche. Easy Love is of course familiar to me as it got to no.1 two months after this contest. I like all the instrumentation but the vocals are quite painful to listen to. Michael Jackson must have been spinning in his grave when this came out. An instrumental version would have got a higher score from me. 6.7 out of 10. ozx898ADTxM
September 18, 20177 yr Screw Easy Love. I would have loved it so much more had Sandra Lyng won, not only was Easy Love uninspired through sampling and about to be a hit (I swear, had I not been on holiday that confirmation week I'd have laid down fire in the mod forum to try and get it out), we'd also have had Tinnmark finally winning with a rather inspired and lovely pop track. And then Sigala gets to be the biggest winner ever... nah. Aquafina would still have had one legitimate winner, had the butterfly effect not been changed too much. I love Sorry a lot, it's one of my favourite winners and a nice one for Kylienips, but it was unfortunate that Espen were so close with another good (but not quite as) track. But then they should have won 93.
September 18, 20177 yr I did and still do enjoy Easy Love, but it is a very uninspired winner to have the points record as it was clearly a big hit in the making from the moment it premiered. Though I wasn't a massive fan of it's nearest challengers either, a lot of my favourites from that contest were lower down the leaderboard. I did love this period in 2015 though, gives me nice memories of doing my MA, and still love most of my entries here even though none did hugely well, 76 was when I sent my favourite entry ever, Two Steps From Hell's Miracles  The foreign music was generally great as well, Habib Galbi is a classic winner (indeed as he said, 2015 was definitely the year of #TerraPhonia, I gave them a stupid;y high amount of points this year) and 75 had a lot of tunes too - Sorry I believe was the first winner correctly predicted by plug.dj stats! (These listen-throughs started to become more of a thing around this time, I wonder how I managed without them before, they are very fun).
September 18, 20177 yr Both “Easy Love” and “Peanut Butter Jelly” really remind me of being in Northumberland that August, both were pretty much constantly on Radio 1. Apparently “Easy Love” was put together after a binge on Desperados which is kind of APT I think.
September 18, 20177 yr I'm actually wondering what could be the most hated winner of all time? It seems like it's between Easy Love, In Your Arms & Raindrops.
September 18, 20177 yr I'm actually wondering what could be the most hated winner of all time? It seems like it's between Easy Love, In Your Arms & Raindrops. 'Boys Will Be Boys' by Dolly Rockers according to this, but 'Silly Boy' not far behind (that one seems to get a lot more vocal hate too)
September 18, 20177 yr 'Boys Will Be Boys' by Dolly Rockers according to this, but 'Silly Boy' not far behind (that one seems to get a lot more vocal hate too) Don't think I ever noticed the results of that until now! I'm glad none of my winners did too disgracefully, RAMelia top 20 too <3 I like pretty much all of the winners that everyone else seems to hate now, at least Dolly Rockers had an edge of sorts and I loved the drop in In Your Arms (I think it got my top score that month in fact). My least favourites are some of the bland female pop (not Scandipop, they were all great) winners - Charice's Louder, the Jess Mauboy track, Katharine McPhee's Dangerous etc...)
September 18, 20177 yr Honestly PVRIS and Meg Myers are my favourite winners ever. I don't think there's been one since that's even compared to me, most of the time I don't really get the winners and they're sorta average at best for me but not these two! I miss those sorta contests and I'd only just debuted at that point
September 19, 20177 yr Author 77. Aquafina - Safe With You - Alex Metric & Jacques Lu Cont featuring Malin A very close contest with just six points separating the top 3. Aquafina retained their title with Ponibbi's Heartskip 2nd for Aeroche and Get This Right by Koven in 3rd place for Altyr Muunilinst. This is a big surprise for me. I was completely unaware that I had entered a former winner into BJSC98. Jacques Lu Cont is Stuart Price aka The Thin White Duke whose remix of Silver Screen Shower Scene I entered into the last contest. The fact that no one pointed this out on my national thread makes me think that none of you were aware either. I can detect his sound on parts of this song. It's a good piece of dance/pop. Malin is normally part of the Swedish duo 'Niki and the Dove'. 8.7 out of 10. wkPTIti6J3g
September 19, 20177 yr 74. Persephonia - Habib Galbi - A-WA This contest marked the introduction of the current format of 41 or 42 songs in the final. A-WA finished 27 points ahead of the hosts Daehun's song 2080-luvulla by Sanni. Pedestrian At Best by Courtney Barnett was 3rd for Unovia. This is just the sort of song BJSC was made for. It's a Yemeni folk song with just a hint of ska music in its sound. Very good. A-WA means 'yes' in Arabic and the Israeli group is made up of the three Haim sisters, not the only group where that is the case. 8.8 out of 10. g3bjZlmsb4A YOOOU BITCH This deserves a 10 HOE

WRONG It shits all over 90% of all songs in the contest and i by FAAAR Persephondonia's BEST
September 19, 20177 yr Safe With You is excellent, one of my favourite songs to have won but it was just sooooooo cheap at the time. Essentially a blatant veto when released and then a delayed wait for a clever submission strategy. I learned from it and am still planning on trying Susanne Sundfør's 'Kamikaze' in 10 contests time.

Yeah “Safe With You” was pretty big in 2013 on the 'ole Multichart - well with me and randomfurlong anyway. Really cheap but I can see why it wasn't vetoed! The next contest will be interesting to review.. :P
