September 23, 20177 yr My finest moments in BJSC  Truls is still a big fave of mine but doesn't quite hold the same place in my heart as Lone Digger does - I knew Circles was a big hit from the first listen whereas Lone Digger I had absolutely no idea the levels of success it'd go on toward. Plus two 2nd places in a row still sounds bizarre from a country that isn't exactly a big hitter in the BJSC world! Also I have very fond memories of 81 as it was the first and only contest I've got to host - one of the best contests in the sheer strength and depth of quality songs entered imo  Also side note: just seen that the Lone Digger video has 95 million views vs. the 2.9 million of Ghost's :o
September 24, 20177 yr Author 82. Ethanola - Free Tibet - Hilight Tribe A first win for Ethanola as Hilight Tribe finished 34 points ahead of You Got Me Baby by Lushington (Vulkyria) with Era Istrefi's Bonbon 3 points further back for Yehesi. Free Tibet is a bit bonkers. Any winning song that has what sounds like a chainsaw being used as a musical instrument deserves a place in my top 10 so I've found a place for it. The song never stands still, there are lots of different sounds being added as it moves on. I think this is the longest winner so far. Hilight Tribe are French and have been going since the mid 90s. 9.47 out of 10. 0lBjcaMokvo
September 24, 20177 yr 'Free Tibet' *_* That winning was one of the best moments in BJSC history - and in fact all of that top 3 are brilliant. Me getting my first top 3 the contest before with 'Monody' is one of my personal best moments too, I didn't expect it too (all of my top 3 hits came as surprises actually).
September 24, 20177 yr Thank God Free Tibet won because the two it beat are two of the most horrendously overrated songs to ever be entered to BJSC, can't stand either. Free Tibet itself is quite the fabulous journey and really stands out in the winner's list. Also side note: just seen that the Lone Digger video has 95 million views vs. the 2.9 million of Ghost's :o It's been leading the electro-swing revival, at least in my mind, although even now most of the comments are about the video so I have to imagine cartoon nightclub homicide fans are helping at least a little.
September 24, 20177 yr Free Tibet remains a true MOMENT, was stunning seeing an 8+ minute psytrance song actually appeal enough to win, it was the high of what was a very diverse year of winners looking back.
September 24, 20177 yr Amazing winner, but I don't really have fond memories of this contest as a whole. Next.
September 25, 20177 yr Author 83. Yehesi - 10,000 Luchtballonnen - K3 I'm surprised 'This Girl' by Kungs vs Cookin' On 3 Burners could only finish 7th. Instead, you preferred K3 who finished 38 points ahead of Mendoza representing Cadelicia with Love Druggie (Addict). Feel by Mahmut Orhan was 3rd for Dobago. 10,000 Luchtballonnen is a light, happy song. A bit cheesy, but I don't mind a bit of cheese now and again. According to their wiki page, their music is aimed at pre-adolescent children. They are named K3 after their original members Karen,Kristel and Kathleen. There was a complete clear out of members in 2015,presumably because they were getting on a bit so the line-up that won BJSC is a new one. 9 out of 10. 6fMwrdWmExg Edited September 25, 20177 yr by King Rollo
September 26, 20177 yr Author 84. FARC - Save It - Salt Ashes Salt Ashes won by a huge margin of 133 points with All Night Long by Rochelle in 2nd place for the reigning champions Yehesi and Shosholoza by The Flavor in 3rd place (Vulkyria). There's nothing wrong with this song and I can get why many of you voted for it but for me after listening to one minute,I knew what the rest of the song would sound like. As you probably know by now,I like unpredictable music so I can't give this a high score. Salt Ashes' real name is Veiga Sanchez. She doesn't have a wiki page but the biography I have found for her says she was born in 2013 and is 4 years old. Some amendment may be needed there. 6.9 out of 10. wFeyprhY4E0
September 26, 20177 yr i rly like salt ashes but save it is my least fave of her entries to bjsc (still good tho) - omg rochelle shuda won, f***ing FLAWLESS song
September 26, 20177 yr Had no idea that song had a video! Brilliant winner, that's the type of pop I get behind.
September 27, 20177 yr Author 85. Beaverdonia - Aide - Bang La Decks A first win for Beaverdonia as Aide finished 30 points ahead of Feeling Electric by Parade Of Lights (Medhelnia). Plaitum's Jagwa was 3rd for N DNTN. I like this one a lot with its combination of brass instruments, drums and electronic production. Bang La Decks are a pair of Greek DJs. 9.3 out of 10. TrcYl14wYJM
September 28, 20177 yr Author 86. Pupok - Give Love A Try -Aelyn And it's a first win also for Pupok as Aelyn finished 25 points ahead of 'Hey' by Willa (Altyr Muunilinst). Blush by TP4Y was 3rd for Yehesi. Any trance tune will get a high score from me. This is a great song which I enjoyed but not unique enough to make my top 10. Aelyn is from Kiev and her full name is Alyona Samoylenko. 9.2 out of 10. 0RSK_pmIslE Edited September 28, 20177 yr by King Rollo
September 28, 20177 yr 2 amazing winners there. I think the Altyr deduction was only in the Semi iirc so it didn't affect their final performance. '86 especially had tonnes of great stuff entered.
September 28, 20177 yr Altyr were definitely not deducted in the final. :P I don't think we've ever had a case of a song winning due to late or non-voting in the main contest, yet it has happened quite a few times in spin-offs. Great winning entry there
September 28, 20177 yr Both were such strong contests but I barely paid attention in 86 for obvious reasons Welp, scared for tomorrow.
September 28, 20177 yr Author Thanks for pointing that out. I see now the 15% reduction referred to the semi-final score for Altyr. I've edited my post.
September 28, 20177 yr Both were such strong contests but I barely paid attention in 86 for obvious reasons Welp, scared for tomorrow. And what reasons were those?
