I mean I'm all for dissenting opinions and all but there's only one correct opinion on Berger and that is "11/10 - SLAYED, SNATCHED, DECEASED"

At last something tops Britney as my favourite so far! 'Will You Remember Me Tomorrow' has a real charm to it and the production is great.

10. Mdice - Right Here (Departed) by Brandy

Human by the Human League is not one of their best songs but deserved more than 3 points in its semi-final. In the final,my vote would have gone to Duffy's Distant Dreamer just ahead of One More Time by Daft Punk. Brandy won by 6 points with Lady Gaga having to settle for the runner-up place for the second time with Paparazzi (Torchwood). The Saturdays were third with Up (Allecian).

Brandy sings the song well and the production is good but R&B is one of those genres that leaves no room for any experimentation or deviation from a typical sound. It's therefore for me a really boring genre of music that I have no time for.

Will You Remember Me Tomrrow is such a moment in BJSC, obviously the first 8 winners were somewhat known (ik Dixie Chicks are hardly The Beatles but they had some albums success in the UK and were colossal in the US so I imagine most music fans at the time would've been aware) and this sort of set a precedent for real discoveries in BJSC that obviously led to the contest we still love today. Lovely song, it's got such a magic to it and the production is lovely plus her voice has such a great tone to it that fits the power of the Abba-esque chorus as well as the subtler, sweet verses.

Right Here (Departed) is a solid song, nothing incredible but I'm partial to a bit of R&B and I do love Brandy. It's just Brandy doing Brandy really, something I enjoy a lot but it seems baffling that it won over Up and Paparazzi, two of my all time faves that are perfect pop!

Rollo the version of 'Human' that was entered is a rare Asia-only version called the Chinese Whispers Remix, you might be into it what with your taste for some obscure old tracks.

I like this more than the normal version of the song, deserved far more than 3 points! At least Tartford are still with us after all these many years, providing another retro track in the most recent contest ;o

Don't have a particularly strong opinion on that Brandy track... it's pretty average. Gaga or The Sats would've made a much better winner quality-wise! 'Up' is my favourite Saturdays song. Also... Mdiče killing it so far! :o

11. Eledan - The Show by Lenka

Britney Spears was the only big name in the final and she finished last. Lenka won by 11 points with Lonely by Suzie McNeil 2nd (Nonsuch) and Boys And Girls by Pixie 3rd (FRS Rontvia).

I like the Lenka song a lot with its use of piano, xylophone and trumpets. It reminded me of the Scottish indie band The Delgados but poppier. For me,this is the best winner so far. Lenka is Australian and this was her only UK hit single, reaching no.22.

Oh this was one of those songs that I had heard plenty of times but didn't know what it was called for years! Think it may have been in an advert? Anyway, I'm also a fan of the instrumentation and her voice is rather light and calming. So a pretty sweet package. Straight into my top 3 so just about the better Elëdan winner!

02. Mdiče // Britney Spears - And Then We Kiss (Junkie XL Remix) [bJSC 1]

10. Mdiče // Brandy - Right Here (Departed) [bJSC 10]

11. Bokia // Katharine McPhee - Dangerous [bJSC 2]

Lenka did have another minor hit with 'Everything At Once' (which I believe was also used in adverts), that's a better song imo although I do like 'The Show' as well.

'The Show' is another sweet enough song, think I heard it a bit on radio 2 which my mum listens to when it was out.

'Right Here' is bleh, not the worst thing to ever happen but it's not that great.

'Will You Remember Me Tomorrow' is a good pop song of its time and the right winner for that contest, especially as it led the way for unknown artists and songs to be entered.

'f*** You' is a great Lily Allen song, brilliantly written and so catchy.

12. Kopecka - Quicksand by La Roux

I can't believe Massive Attack's masterpiece 'Unfinished Sympathy' finished last in its semi-final. I suppose by this time, countries are preferring to vote for new music they haven't heard before. It's good to see Boney M do quite well in the final and I was unaware that two of my 80s crushes Kim Wilde and Nena had ever collaborated. I just played their song and like it. La Roux won by 10 points with 3 Little Words by Frankmusik 2nd for Mdice and Breathing Your Love by Darin and Kat DeLuna in 3rd place for Botanikka.

I like a bit of synth pop but Quicksand was not as good as I had hoped. It was alright but nothing to make it stand out. It was their debut single and only got to no.129. Lead singer Elly Jackson's mother is Trudie Goodwin who played June Ackland in The Bill for 25 years.

Lenka was a great and cute little winner, really enjoy that one. And Quicksand is a very good La Roux song, one of my favourites and definitely far preferable to what it beat out. Along with Will You Remember Me and Gomenasai they'd probably make up my top 4 of the winners so far.

I think I won the tie break on that one so technically second last (maybe I'm wrong) and it's a fantastic song that I still have major love for but in hindsight, it wasn't a very inspired entry because it's so well-known. Yeah like you said, people were beginning to send in / vote for more unknown stuff at that point.

I enjoy the production of 'Quicksand' and the vox are far more tolerable than on 'In For The Kill' (although I have recently found out that the Skream remix of that is actually rather good?!). The chorus of this is fine but nothing exceptional really - the best La Roux song for me is still 'Bulletproof'. The big travesty here was Massive Attack coming last :drama: 'Unfinished Sympathy' is a beaut.

Yeah Massive Attack did win the tiebreak due to having a 7. Can't believe no one ranked it in their top 3.
