The Show is a cute little song, but it's quite of its time, that quirky sort of indie-pop you never really get in the chart anymore. Abput middle of the pack so far, solid winner but I do prefer the Suzie McNeill song that came second.

Quicksand has never been a huge fave of mine from La Roux, it's solid but it can't compare to In For The Kill and Bulletproof. I agree with Jade about the chorus, it never really takes off but it feels like the song needs a big chorus.

I always get The Show mixed up with New Soul by Yael Naim, I think cos they were both surprise UK hits due to adverts and have a similar whimsical feel? The Show is lovely nonetheless, don't rlly care for Quicksand.

13. Herzebania - Release Me by Agnes Carlsson

In the final were returning winners Beverley Knight and Margaret Berger along with Izzy from Neighbours,Emily from Brookside and Ellie Goulding, well before she was famous. Agnes Carlsson won by a wide margin of 30 points ahead of M.A.G.I.C. by The Sound Of Arrows (FSR Rontvia) and Every Little Earthquake by Little Boots (Mdice).

Release Me is the closest song so far to what gets entered into the contest nowadays. I like the strings and her vocals but the song is not very memorable. It was a top 3 hit in the UK. Agnes won the 2005 series of Swedish Idol,a series in which Mans Zelmerlow could only finish in 5th place.

'Release Me' shoots straight to the top of my rankings so far, Scandipop perfection  I actually didn't appreciate it enough at the time but then its excellence hit me a few years later  I of course went on to reuse that song for the 'BJ10' contest last year celebrating 10 years of the forum and won with it *.* 'M.A.G.I.C.' is also amazing, what a flawless top 2.

Yeah, I'd say it's anything but unmemorable. That double bridge hit me with full force the first time I heard it and then the chorus and those glorious strings completely sealed the deal. Instant and excellent from the first listen and my love has never subsided.

I was completely amazed that it hit the UK top three but it was one of my favourite chart moments of the last decade, we see so little Scandipop in the upper echelons of the UK chart and it was wonderful to see the UK public take to one of the finest examples of the genre.

Obviously I'd have loved to have won that contest with M.A.G.I.C. but I'd count both amongst my all-time favourite tracks and Agnes fully deserved that win.

14. FSR Rontvia - Not A Love Song by Uh Huh Her

Previous winner Lily Allen returned to the final along with Rihanna,Taylor Swift,Kelly Clarkson and Izzy from Neighbours. My vote would have gone to Happy Up Here by Royksopp but their time will come soon. Uh Huh Her won a close contest by 6 points with Can't Get Over by September in 2nd place for Quotosibb and Take My Body Close by Velvet 3rd for FNT Nickodonia.

This is clearly the best winner so far. I like the guitar intro and then the synths, drums and the girls' vocals. It's just my sort of thing and I shall add it to my Spotify starred list. Uh Huh Her come from Los Angeles, the track is from their debut album,Common Reaction.

The ultimate in inspired beating out the cheap *.* Great song as well, definitely one of the highlights of the second decade.

That Uh Huh Her song is great! It appeals to me for similar reasons as you Rollo, namely the infectious combination of guitar and synths carrying the song. Also the drum really shines during the outro in particular. A catchy lil chorus on top of this all. Straight in my top 3, so Rontvia quickly better their other winner so far! (Also 'So Human' is my main other highlight of the top 10 from that contest )

14. Bokia // Katharine McPhee - Dangerous [bJSC 2]

Oh I'm really glad you've made a great discovery here Rollo, I guess this track gets rather forgotten about in the grand scheme of winners but I think it still packs a punch! My most surprising winner ever judging by the pre-contest odds it had.

I've always loved the fact that I won with 'Not A Love Song' a year after 'Love Song'

15. Mdice - The Girl And The Robot by Royksopp featuring Robyn

Lady Ga Ga and The Saturdays were amongst the finalists but most countries opted for lesser known acts. Royksopp broke Katy Perry's widest margin record by 3 points, finishing 48 points ahead of Jody, representing Kathaldazia with Wind It. Kim Leoni's Medicine was 3rd for Hendinia.

I've been a fan of Royksopp ever since I heard Epie and Poor Leno in 2001. The Girl And The Robot is a fantastic shimmering piece of synth pop with Robyn's vocals complementing the electronic instruments. This overtakes yesterday's winner as my favourite song so far.

16. Mdice - Shark In The Water by VV Brown

For the first time in the contest, two countries,Fortunia and Mykanovia were disqualified. Maybe one of the BJSC historians could tell me what crime they were found guilty of. My guess would be collusion on tactical voting. Mdice retained their title with VV Brown fighting off the challenge from previous winners La Roux representing Torchwood with Bulletproof and winning by 26 points. Florence and the Machines' Rabbit Heart was 3rd for Kellyana Kingdom.

Shark In The Water starts with acoustic guitars and then shifts up a few gears to a breezy chorus. I like the production and her singing a lot. This is a very good song. It was her only UK top 40 hit, reaching no.34.

8.4 out of 10.

They were kicked out because they were the same person! We found out that that the 'poster' behind Mykanovia was an alias of the poster behind Fortunia so they were disqualified and permanently banished. We have a zero tolerance approach to alias accounts because it's grossly unfair on everyone else.

One of the first things I had to do as BJSC mod! Doesn't feel like it really was all that time ago.

15 Mdiče // Royksopp - The Girl And The Robot [bJSC 15)

16 Quotosibb // Beverley Knight - Black Butta [bJSC 6]

Release Me goes straight to the top of my rank as one of my all time top 40, an exercise in perfect pop with the soaring strings and chorus. I doubt anything will topple this.

Shark In The Water is pop perfection too, I feel it could and should have been way bigger irl.

Not A Love Song is solid for me but not one I ever listen to nor a fave so far.

The Girl And The Robot is hideously overrated, not awful but I have never taken to it.

17. FSR Rontvia - Robots In Love by Beautiful Small Machines

Black Eyed Peas,Tinchy Stryder and Cascada were amongst the finalists and my vote would have gone to Chicane's Poppiholla. Beautiful Small Machines won by 13 points with Now I'm That Bitch by Livvi Franc 2nd for M.K.L. and Box n Locks by MPHO 3rd for Angelicland.

This is gooddelta's own youtube upload. Robots In Love is a catchy little pop song,I like it. Beautiful Small Machines are made up of Americans Bree Sharp and Don DiLego.

(Update 12-17)

'Release Me' and 'The Girl And The Robot' are both really brilliant, easy standouts of the winners so far.

Not keen on the two FSR Rontvia winners, and VV Brown/La Roux songs are quite average for the time.
