July 5, 20178 yr Exactly! Who wants to see Despacito at the top for weeks and weeks! It's totally unfair on new and emerging artists who either don't have the funds to get high placements on streaming nor the fanbase yet. I totally agree with how they've done it, it doesn't affect tracks that are still increasing just ones that are slowly moving place by place down the chart. But the chart should be a fair and actual representation of what is being downloaded and streamed. I don't like how tracks sit at number one on the top 10 for months on end but if a song sells/is streamed more than another song then the chart should reflect that. The main issue as you have alluded to is artists getting placements on spotify and having their songs repeated all day on radio. Perhaps they need to be willing to push fresher tracks quicker.
July 5, 20178 yr MW update is in, a co chart mod will be around soon, please be patient as we have to assess the chart first
July 5, 20178 yr "Feels" becoming big is also great for Katy and Pharrell who were starting to look like they were entering dud eras. They are only featured artists on the track and we don't know if it will be "big" per se. It may not ever go top5 and could drop next week. Feels is only going to be a hit because it's a Calvin Harris track, you could replace Katy or Pharrell with any other singers and it would make practically no difference. It's a bit like saying Leona Lewis is relevant again because she had a number one hit with the Grenfell Tower track.
July 5, 20178 yr Music Week have also accidentally given the sales for the entire top 40 singles and albums, with sales based on the new chart rules, which is good of them! Plus they've also revealed that under the old rules 'Shape Of You' would be at number 13 instead of the number 23 it is on the official midweeks. The top 12 are the same on the old and new rules... July 5, 20178 yr As Robbie said MW have given top 40 sales but it's probably safe to assume it's an accident!

What's the sales of 10 and 11 in the singles?
July 5, 20178 yr What's the sales of 10 and 11 in the singles? It's not that big a gap but there's an even smaller gap between 9 and 10 so I think Maggie should be fine!
July 5, 20178 yr I think somebody forgot to move the goalposts on excel :D those sales are not intentionally. For anyone with a MW account please do not post sales info outside the top 5.There's no need to, Ben Homewood from Music Week has not only forgot to take the sales away from his xls sheet, he's also forgot to put the post behind the paywall... http://www.musicweek.com/talent/read/calvi...rt-fight/069060 ^ the full top 40 Singles and Albums with sales without having to login! July 5, 20178 yr Stone Sour look relatively safe for the top 5, TLC on the other hand could slip out the top 40 given how close everything is
July 5, 20178 yr Feels is only going to be a hit because it's a Calvin Harris track, you could replace Katy or Pharrell with any other singers and it would make practically no difference.Like 'Heatstroke' was a hit because it was a Calvin Harris track too? How close are Sigella from the top 10?
July 5, 20178 yr Like 'Heatstroke' was a hit because it was a Calvin Harris track too? How close are Sigella from the top 10? Sigella have approximately 90% of the sales of No.10
