wait, was thinking that Shape increased last week, but the rule is that it has to increase by 50%, which is actually a lot, and pretty sure Shape didn't cos it just climbed 5 spots

so maybe it has rightly been affected by the rule

still think Solo Dance is an error though, +20 weeks and down for the last weeks for sure, should have a 1:300 ratio and be 30 places lower :)

'Shape Of You' didn't increase its sales last week despite climbing 17-11. Its last sales increase was on the chart published on 16/06/17 - this current sales week marks its 3rd week of declining sales unless by some miracle - which is unlikely - it records a sales increase over the week by Thursday evening.

As for whether 'Shape Of You' is classed as meeting the definition of being in "decline" for chart rules purposes for ACR to kick in (for the proper Friday chart), it isn't just down to its sales declining this week. It also has to have a decline in sales which outstrips that of the market as a whole and that can't really be determined until Friday morning when all sales for all titles are in at the end of the chart week. Or at least that is my understanding of how the rule works...

Grenfall down to 13 already be interesting if it even holds top 40

#8 on iTunes, #39 on Spotify, I think it should hold top 40 :P

Good to see a lot of movement, though this always happens on the weeks when big rule changes come in and I guess going forwards only a tiny handful of songs each week in the top 40 will switch to ACR.

Won't huge hits just have one huge drop at some point, once ACR is actioned, and then resume falling at a snail's pace?

Stupid question I know but it went completely over my head, what is ACR?

Accelerated Chart Ratio = After 3 consecutive weeks of decline a stream to sale ratio of 300:1 (or as otherwise amended by the CSC) can be applied. This is also known as Accelerated Chart Ratio

Thanks. Now I can understand this thread a bit better

Still not got my head around the rules fully (nor do I particularly care all that much) but eh, if it makes the Friday Chart Shows a bit more interesting, then I guess I'm fine with it.

I've given up with the rules! All I understand is that Shape of You, Stmphony and Swalla probably won't last in the Top 40 for many more weeks now. Which I suppose is good in the interest of freshness. Whether this achieves the right results is another question.

Means Bryan Adams record is safe forever.

I wonder if Rudimental will remain top 30 by Friday. Probably not.

I really like Sun Comes Up and I'm pleased to see my fave male X Factor winner James Arthur back to the top 40. ^_^

5 After Midnight back in the Top 75 - thought this would be long gone by now. Big drop for LIV'N'G 28-99.
I really don't get why 'Solo Dance' climbed, it surely should have been penalised by the new ratio, plus the usual slide?

The track recorded a sales increase a fortnight ago.
but for old songs that have been in the charts declining for weeks and weeks like Solo Dance, I thought a 50% increase was needed to get back to the normal ratio? Solo Dance increased sales but barely

It's not been backdated very far, I assume they're only looking at the past few weeks or Mr. Brightside would be long since gone.

I see, thanks, thought they were looking at the whole chart run

So would Despacito fall victim to the sales police next week or the week after? (sorry if its been asked a million times). Wild Thoughts is looking very likely to climb to no.1 at any rate unless something massive comes out of nowhere. Must admit its been growing on me a lot.

Nice to see a more fluid movement though, will be interesting to see how it looks next week as i cant help but think it will end up being static once again as most of the large troublesome hits will have had their ratios already reduced this week, apart from the odd one here and there.
