Just a bit too early for City I think but if they continue progressing the way they are they'll certainly be ones to seriously consider in future seasons.

Be the likes of Barca, PSG, Real & Bayern taking up the Semi spots. Could be a surprise package in there too. Spurs seem best placed based on current evidence to advance the furthest of the PL teams!

Real Madrid are in poor form and this Bayern team is pretty unspectacular compared to the past 5-7 years or so. Still think City have a great chance. PSG & Man City the two runaway favourites for me right now. I think on their day over two legs, a lot of the English teams could do really well against the big name European teams on paper.

Spurs' problem will be that they have probably peaked too early. In the sense that if they are unlucky enough to draw Real Madrid again, I suspect things will be very different.

Shows how much Monaco had their team ripped apart - from semi finalists last season to coming bottom of their group this season.

Liverpool more like Moreno really threw that game away against Sevilla.

Moreno lost his head, but Klopp also should have hooked him earlier. Some terrible referring decisions - he fell for the crowd unfortunately. Disappointing to draw, but I would have taken a point before hand. Just puts more pressure on us now though...

I didn't see the match but Liverpool throwing away a 3-0 lead sums up how bad their defence has been this season. If they were as good defensively as they are on the attack then they would be doing a lot better in the league and would already have qualified for the knockout stage of the Champions League.

It's not even that bad. We have conceded ONE goal at home this year. Our problem is we seem to capitulate under immense pressure. Our defence was not even that bad yesterday, the whole team just could not keep up with the pressure and intense atmosphere in the 2nd half.

I don't think we'll get as far as the semi-finals. Getting to the quarter finals would be a good achievement for us and it could happen if we get a favourable draw in the round of 16.

Man City will run out of steam by the time the knockout stages arrive, for the Premier League they are deserved favourites but they're not on the level of the '99 treble winning United side, 2009-2011 Barcelona or the 2013 Bayern Munich team. Teams that can go full throttle in practically all competitions at the same time throughout the season. Man City have a recent history of being bottle jobs which is why I am not being swept into the hype around them at the moment.

It will prove to be a fact that Manchester City will not win the Champions League this season.

I mean... you're more likely to be right than wrong, but it feels daft to dismiss them on the basis that they're not as good as three of the best teams in Champions League history.

PSG look terrifying going forward but I'm still not convinced by their defence. Bayern are improving now that Ancelotti has gone and tend to come on strong in the knockout rounds once they've all but won the Bundesliga. Barcelona are in excellent form in Spain and will be there or thereabouts again. Real will improve as well.

City are obviously the best bet of the English sides, but I'd expect Guardiola to try and ensure that they win the league this season and really go all out in Europe next season. Any of the other English clubs could make a deep run with a bit of luck. The only thing will be that the fight for the top 4 in the Premier League looks like it will be really hard this year, so all of the teams other than City might have some difficult decisions to make.

A very flat 2nd half and an disappointment to concede when they did, United should have taken their chances when they were on top before half time.

Qualified so far

Bayern 🇩🇪

Barcelona 🇪🇸

Beşiktaş 🇹🇷

Chelsea

Man. City

Paris 🇫🇷

Real Madrid 🇪🇸

Tottenham

If Liverpool or Chelsea fail to top their group there's a very narrow field of teams they could play in the last 16 due to the success of the other English teams. Off the top of my head either could get PSG, Barcelona or Besiktas. If neither finish top they could face whichever or Roma or Sevilla they weren't in a group with as well.

The following are confirmed:

Winners: Man United, PSG, Roma, Barcelona, Man City, Besiktas, Tottenham

Runners up: Basel, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Juventus, Real Madrid

TBC: Liverpool, Sevilla, Spartak Moscow, Napoli, Shakhtar Donetsk, Porto, RB Leipzig

Shaw was on fire tonight. So good. Blind had an excellent game as well, so dunno what the MEN are smoking. (well, just their weirdo crusade against blind tbh)
The Shaw situation is just bizzarre. I think he is a fantastic player, but he has had his confidence knocked tenfold by Jose. It is truly diabolical man management imo - somehow half of the the Man Utd fanbase and the media have convinced themselves he is a bad player. For his sake he needs to be playing regularly though.

I know if Jose says it all united fans look down their noses at him. Maybe we don't know how he's come back from the bad leg break and possible Jose thinks it'll push the player on, he does it at all his clubs - isolates one or two!
I don't agree with the way Jose savagely called him out time after time but he really did let himself go a bit last season. Anyway, it's not like we're desperate for defenders atm as we have the best defence in the league, although he should most certainly be ahead of bloody Darmian in the batting order, that cannot be questioned.

He's done it a few times on players and it's worked, but it seems like if they are not mentally tough then he just forgets about them - it is pretty strange. Mind you this is from the same guy who sold De Bruyne, Salah and Lukaku...

Fantastic to see all five England sides in the knockout stages for the first time ever.

Going to be some good games in the last 16. The only side I desperately want Liverpool to avoid is Juventus.

It was also fantastic to see Manchester City lose as well. Predictably the "it was our 2nd team" excuses have already started.

The last 16 is going to be brutal in terms of trying to avoid the toughest teams, at least one of the English teams will get Real Madrid I reckon. I think some people are sleeping on Real Madrid at the moment because they lost to Tottenham and finished 2nd in their group but they are still a very strong team and would be the team I would most want Man United to avoid.

I would not be surprised if Chelsea get PSG in the knockout stage again.
