August 29, 20177 yr 1D and Camila aren't comparable at all though - all of them have done better than her worldwide despite Crying in the Club being a hit. It helps that 1D were much bigger than 5H in the first place so they had a bigger springboard, but all five members have at least one top 10 hit, including two #1 singles in the UK. I meant in terms of 1D themselves being heralded as a huge worldwide phenomenon but never really having any strings of successful singles, despite otherwise being seen as A-listers. Especially in the US, their biggest market; singles ran 4-DNC-39-DNC-3-33-46-13-2 for the first two and a half years. In the UK, with pulled-out-all-the-stops promo, 1-3-9-86-3-1-9.

More Than This is a bit of an unfair comparison as it only got a proper push in Australia (no playlisting in the UK for example), but I think you're underestimating them. Sure, they didn't get to #1 with every release, but their first nine singles all made the top 10 and all singles bar one made the top 20. The US is a kinda different story as some songs were pushed more than others (with Gotta Be You being skipped over entirely). Nevertheless, with regards to the actual point, 1D lived up to their fanbase and namepower faaaar more than 5H or Camila have! :P
August 29, 20177 yr what are your reasons for thinking she was "living hell"? how has she been 'unprofessional'? why does she remind you of nicole? i mean yes, they are both women who left 'girl bands'...camilla is 10 years younger, has greater stage presence and exists 10/15 years later Well everybody said that she wasn't comfortable in the band, right? That she was hated for the others. What I wanted to say is that I can understand that be in the band was difficult for her, but since 5H isn't an established band she should had kept with them at least one more album, make the band more successful and then going solo. She reminds me to Nicole because it was similar, PCD was huge everybody wanted more of the band and the rest of the girls and instead that they started to push Nicole as a solo artist. I guess that they should have wait at least one more album, they hype was around PCD not Nicole at that moment. The only artist that has been successful as a solo artist after a Girlbamd has been Beyoncé, and Beyoncé was the star of D.C. during several years before going solo. I think these kind of popstars should follow Beyoncé's example if they really wanna be successful in her own.

I suppose their mammoth album sales must have counted for nothing?
August 30, 20177 yr Well both was released as a doubled sided single but Camila has finally confirmed as expected that Havana is officially the 2nd single with OMG presumably just now a promo single. https://twitter.com/camila_cabello/status/902975985145962496
August 30, 20177 yr Actually quite a clever move by her team releasing two in one go and then going with the better received track. I'm pleased as I prefer Havana to OMG. Video please! :D
August 30, 20177 yr This does look set to be huge. Up to 14 on Spotify and almost top 40 on iTunes with no airplay!

August 30, 20177 yr I agree mostly with what you're saying but I completely disagree on the idea of her having more stage presence than Nicole though, I think Camila has always come across insanely irritating and like she was trying to be centre of attention in 5H, unlike Nicole who just very naturally the main woman and she felt like a star of her own doing. I haven't seen anything in any performances that tell me she has anything interesting or exciting about her as a solo artist, as much as I like Havana.

August 31, 20177 yr Oh, I know, I'm just more discussing the idea she has particular stage presence. I don't think she has at all, I don't think she was the best dancer in Fifth Harmony, she certainly wasn't the most likeable, she couldn't do "sexy" if she tried as proved by the Work From Home video and performances, so this is where I think there IS a problem with her as a solo artist, I don't buy that she's capable of being an interesting solo artist aside from having these quirky, on trend numbers written for her (much like the band themselves, lacking in star quality but given great material to mask it).
August 31, 20177 yr So glad 'Havana' looks like it'll be big, can't get enough of it. I thought it sounded like the hit from the two tracks but they seemed to be pushing 'OMG' at the start for some reason.
August 31, 20177 yr "Havana" is up to #12 on Spotify worldwide and only 2,000 streams behind #11 - she'll surely be there tomorrow and top 10 next week hopefully. She needs to get the video out ASAP! Edited August 31, 20177 yr by THEO.
September 21, 20177 yr Do you think we could get an X Factor performance? That would be an interesting one because Simon has been very keen to push 5H as a brand but I wouldn't rule out a solo performance from Camila. I saw on Twitter this morning she went to see a psychic and have a tarot reading - if you get the chance, check it out below! pTferrQ06AE
