Very healthy numbers for QOTSA there, nice that we'll have at least one week of decent #1 album sales again! Only heard one song from The War On Drugs but it was very good so based on that, pleased to see them doing so well, and wow at PVRIS being in the midweek top 3 as well :o
PVRIS top 3? Oh wow, that's fab! Haven't had a chance to listen to the album in full yet but from the tracks I've heard so far it'll be exceptional
Really glad Lana Del Rey is looking at a 6th week in the top 20, Honeymoon was out of the top 40 at this point.
@MintRoyale

LWYMMD is now no.1 on both downloads and streams but is doing relatively low numbers. For example, about 25% of Shape Of You at this stage

Bearing in mind Sheeran also had Castle On The Hill that week doing similar numbers, it appears Ed pisses on Taylor.

Edit: Taylor on around 41,000 then?

Edited by THEO.

It's not really surprising - Ed has always been a huge deal in the UK, much bigger than Taylor. All 3 of Ed's albums have sold at least double of 1989 (Taylor's most successful Uk album). Of course the US is a completely different story - I imagine Reputation's first week sales will eclipse Ed's latest albums total sales there.
I don't think anybody expected Taylor to do Ed's numbers in the UK, She's never even had a #1 over here up until this point. Taylor as always been more massive in America then she ever was here, I am sure her numbers in America will do way more than Ed both single and album wise.
Does the uk charts count YouTube streams?
Lol why do Taylor's sales need to be compared to Ed's anyway?

Because he was the last huge artist to release after a long time away and go straight to #1

The USA count YouTube streams? Maybe this is something the uk should seriously look at

At the end of the day, it's still streaming like Spotify! Plus Taylor probably has huge YouTube numbers

I'm still bemused at how Bang Bang was a hit, it always struck me as lift music or the kind of song you'd hear while on hold.

This top 3 coming up is MUCH stronger.

I still don't think it's a valid comparison though, they're both different types of artist and she was never going to do anywhere near his numbers

Yes they do, and no the UK should not.

YouTube is video streaming not audio streaming (like Spotify), it's only fair that the chart only includes audio streams. Taylor has huge YouTube numbers because she has a high budget music video which loads of people want to watch even if they don't care much for the song itself. Music videos should remain a promotional tool rather than one that actually contributes to the chart.

TAYLOR is massive in the US Ed is bigger everywhere else the comparison isn't the right 1 to make

Make comparing it with SIO is a better comparison (although she has arguably got bigger since then)

I might get shot for this but Taylor's situation is pretty similar to Katy perry with CTTR and it's looking likely to outperform that first week at least

Hopefully Demi repeats ideally top 10

Yes they do, and no the UK should not.

See I don't agree, I think YouTube should be taken into account, it really helps older artists to break into the streaming world, aka, Britney, pink. Christina, jlo etc

If people are watching the video, they are also listening to the audio, it's the song at the end of the day, and it can seriously help older acts whose fans prefer to see a visual rather than spotify!

I think it's equally valid, and wrong of the OFC not to include it

Yes they do, and no the UK should not.

Two sides of the same coin. It's still streaming.
