Funnily enough this actually scored lower than 'LDCAT' due to this getting 1 less rate, but because these results are based on average, this managed to slip past it and into a respectable top 5 position. I think that most people know that one of the co-writers for this song is actress and former singer Christina Milan who also performs backing vocals on this track, just before she made her mark as a singer herself. There is nothing bad to say about this song at all, it's a fun dance/pop song with cool funky beat played over electric guitars. The vocals aren't too demanding which is a good thing and the whole thing really plays to her strengths as an artist. Just a very solid cool pop song coming from JLO at the height of her career. Upon release the song performed well by reaching #3 in the UK, as well as hitting top 10 peaks in Romania, Scotland, Canada, Netherlands, New Zealand, Italy, Belgium, Finland, Ireland, Sweden & Switzerland, along with top 20 peaks in 7 other countries including the USA where it was considered a somewhat disappointment by only reaching #18, which isn't bad, but not good enough by the labels expectations and it was after this Ja Rule was called in to remix the other singles from this album.

Get Right | Rebirth | Avg.8.806 1WIsnC-h1d0 Highest Scores: 11: (Jack, Scene, CianS), 10: (all is vanity, Liam, SamJudd, Rossco, Tawdry Hepburn, JosephStyles, SameBoy, Jay), Lowest Scores: 4: (Regina, gavindeejay) At #4 we have what proved to be the dark horse in this competition which is the ever brilliant 'Get Right', released in January 2005 and was the lead single from her 4th album 'Rebirth'. This was her first new material in 2 years following her manic relationship and eventual split from Ben Affleck, and then would wed long-time friend Latin singer Marc Anthony, amongst a lot of media frenzy, JLO decided to take a well earned break from it all and come back with something fresh and really quite different, while it still contained her usual hip-hop & R&B sound, there was also jazz and funk mixed into it and built around a sample of 'Soul Power '74' by Maceo and the Macks. This song was also a reworked version of a song called 'Ride' by Usher for his Confessions album, which he decided not to use. while originally the Amerie song '1 Thing' was meant to be JLO but was given to said artist instead, and JLO would use that same horn sound for her song instead. I'm personally glad that this did so well on here as it's definitely one of my personal faves from her and it still to this day stands out amongst her discography with it's cool funky sound that JLO pulls off really well set against a simple backbeat and polished production and let's not forget that awesome dance break, just fantastic. This started off at the lower end of the top 10 throughout the first week or so of the scoring process, but when the scores started getting higher it slowly creeped up to the top 5. Upon release the song became a smash hit by becoming her 2nd chart topper, as well as topping the charts in Ireland, Italy, Portugal & Scotland, as well as top 5 peaks in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Hungary, Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain & Switzerland, along with top 10/20 positions everywhere else. In the USA the song was a moderate success by reaching #12 becoming her first lead single to miss the top 10.
September 20, 20177 yr Glad 'Get Right' isn't higher. I do adore it and the beat is undeniable, I just prefer some of her other tracks.

If You Had My Love | On The 6 | Avg.8.884 lYfkl-HXfuU Highest Scores: 11: (SamJudd, blacksquare, ThePenSmith), 10: (Jack, classydude, Addy King, Cucumberella, Simon, SameBoy, Jay), Lowest Scores: 6.5/6: (Rossco, StillJupiter) Finishing in 3rd place is JLO's debut single 'If You Had My Love' which was released in April 1999 as the lead single from her debut album 'On The 6'. Already established as an actress and scoring her breakthrough role with biopic 'Selena' in 1997, her star was clearly on the rise and working on the film inspired her to become a singer herself which was seen as a risky move especially if the project would fail and could end up damaging her career, but I think it's safe to say that this career move turned into pure gold and made her an instant a-list star and managing the rare feat of managing singing & acting careers with equal success (not even Madonna could manage that). JLO originally wanted to do a Spanish album and even recorded demo material, but Tommy Mottola convinced her to record in English and let's just say the rest is history. Originally Michael Jackson expressed interest in recording this song, but one of the song's producers and co writers Rodney Jerkins felt it would be better suited to a female singer. Well I just have to say that this song is just fantastic with it's silky groove and stellar edgy production that's very tight and suits her voice beautifully and even 17 years later this song still sounds great and not at all dated and what a way to kick off a fantastic music career with such style and grace. Upon release the song became a smash hit by topping the charts in the USA knocking off Ricky Martin's monster hit 'Livin' La Vida Loca' and becoming a big hit in the UK as well by reaching the top 5. Elsewhere it was equally successful by topping the charts in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland & New Zealand, and top 5 peaks in Netherlands, Belgium, France, Ireland, Italy, Germany & Switzerland, then finally top 10/20 peaks everywhere else.
September 21, 20177 yr If You Had My Love is such a classic One of the best debut pop singles ever too, that video~
September 21, 20177 yr I love both 'Waiting For Tonight' and 'On The Floor' but the former is soooo good that it has to win. Not that my score will have made a difference as I gave them both 10's, damn it.
September 23, 20177 yr Author Found a sacred place. lost in your embrace 02. Waiting For Tonight | On The 6 | Avg.9.516 _66jPJVS4JE Highest Scores: 11: (Liam, Addy King, HarryEzra, Cucumberella, Mack, Lukuzz, Tawrdy Hepburn, SameBoy, Floater), 10: (Davidson, Regina, SamJudd, classydude, vibe, blacksquare, Simon, ThePensmith, Jay) Lowest Scores: 7.5/7: (Jack, CianS, Tombo, StillJupiter, Scene) So after such a close battle it came down to this and 'OTF', and despite gaining by far the most 11's in this rate 'Waiting For Tonight' finishes in the runner up position by just 0.5 score. This was the winner throughout most of the rate, but got beaten towards the end, while both of these songs are fantastic, I would have preferred this personally, but oh well let's get on with this write up. Released in November 1999 as the 2nd proper single from her debut album 'On The 6' and has been touted by many as the best song of her career and saw her build on the success of her debut single and further her successful career in the music business. Originally this song was written and recorded by American girl group 3rd Party for their debut album 'Alive' in 1997, but their version never got released as a single and they had long disbanded by the time JLO recorded her own version. While at first she didn't like the demo version stating that it was horrible and cheesy, but producer Cory Rooney believed it had potential and paid $50,000 to have the song reworked and after hearing the new version JLO snapped it up and the rest became history. I'm personally glad she recorded this as it's absolutely sublime piece of dance pop as well as becoming the anthem for the turn of the millennium and can see why it's the perfect party song with it's epic sounding beat that you can get lost in as well as her beautiful sultry vocals and just everything works in perfect order and therefore creating absolute perfection. Upon release it became another smash hit by reaching #5 in the UK and hitting the top 10 in the USA proving that she was never gonna be a one-hit wonder. Elsewhere it managed top 5 peaks in Spain, Australia, Belgium, Netherlands & New Zealand, top 10 in Italy, Finland + France, then finally top 20 mostly everywhere else. It's a new generation 01. On The Floor (Ft Pitbull) | Love? | Avg.9.532 t4H_Zoh7G5A Highest Scores: 11: (Rossco, gooddelta, Jay), 10: (Davidson, Regina, Liam, SamJudd, classydude, CianS, Addy King, Mack, Tombo, Simon, gavindeejay, Lukuzz, Tawdry Hepburn, StillJupiter, JosephStyles, ThePensmith, Floater) Lowest Scores: 7.5/7: (Nick F1, blacksquare, Scene) So there it is Buzzjack's favourite JLO song is the ultimate comeback single ever 'On The Floor', after such a tough battle it's came down to this, while the runner up may be considered her best, this one is definitely the biggest and I would just like to thank everybody on this forum for taking part in this and especially Liam who gave me permission to do this, as I've had a blast presenting this, so thank you. Released in February 2011 as the lead single from her 7th studio album 'Love', and after many false starts with the recording of this album, such as switching record labels and previous singles not making any impact, many thought her career in music was over, up until this little number made it's debut as well as coincided with her appointment as a judge on the 10th season of American Idol, as well as several endorsement deals, it seemed that JLO was back with full force. Described as an evolution of her classic sound and the new modern sound to keep things current as well as being motivated by her Latin heritage and career beginnings, this track also marked her 2nd collaboration with Pitbull (but 1st released as a single), after what was to be a buzz release 'Fresh Out The Oven' back in 2009. This was definitely worth the lengthy wait for new music from her as this was the perfect comeback for her with it's versatility and crisp synths, along with RedOne's fantastic production that really brought life and energy into this with catchy rhythms and JLO's commanding vocals, this was just a non-stop party anthem and this was definitely the best song she's brought out in many years, she sounds so revitalized & refreshed on this, making it's success well earned and well deserved and seemed that the world was ready to welcome JLO back into the forefront. Upon release like I said this became the biggest success of her career selling 11 Million copies worldwide, becoming one the biggest sellers of all time. In the UK it became her 3rd #1 and sold over 800,000 copies, and in the USA it reached #3 becoming her 9th top 10 hit and highest charting hit in 9 years. Elsewhere it managed to top the charts in a whopping 19 countries, while hitting top 5 everywhere else. While at the end of the day this may have not scored the most 11's, it did manage by far the most 10's with 17 of them and there you have it. Please let me know what you think of this outcome in this thread and just share your opinions + thoughts as I'm sure a lot of people weren't expecting this outcome or were they...

September 23, 20177 yr Aw man! I was pulling for Waiting For Tonight to win this again but having a different winner is more exciting so I won't complain. Honestly it's amazing that the top two aren't even from consecutive decades, there's literally 12 years of music between her two most loved songs! I'm curious to see if 'On The Floor' will age anywhere near as well as 'Waiting For Tonight' has. Thanks for hosting this!
