A terrible episode. I hated the challenge. Go to the worst place in your life for the sake of entertainment, and then let us critique your vulnerability and tell you that your self-doubts weren't real or good enough. Who thought this would be a good idea?

 

I'm tired of the judge's inconsistencies too. It's just all over the place.

ikr. it was all rather preachy as well. i get where they were coming from but it was executed so badly. actually i don't think there's a way to execute it well regardless. it will always come off pretentious and overthought.

 

accessing and showing your emotions isn't just to whip out a garment and create a character. i'll go as far as say this is one of the worst challenges in drag race herstory.

Also at one moment during the lip sync, I thought she will send home both of them...which I wouldn't be super mad because it really was nothing special lol

Yeah 100%, in theory it was good I guess to try and access your flaws and use them as a strength but if you have such insecurities, particularly with mental health problems, you're gonna be set up to fail. I'd rather have just had another ball or something else look based, because given the critiques I'm really not sure what they wanted :lol: It might have worked better as like... a quick drag mini challenge at best.

Kameron didn’t win that lip sync, but tbh neither did Miz Cracker. It was pretty boring and early on in any other season could have been a contender for a double sashay.

Finding it hard to properly root for any of the remaining queens. It's not that I dislike any of them but none of them have given me what I need from a winner.

Genuinely might be my worst episode of Drag Race ever. Bizarre mini challenge. Main challenge and most of the episode was just so uncomfortable to watch, so cringe-worthy with how they edited the good/evil personas. Just really terrible and badly executed.

 

Ru needs to stop with his armchair psychology because it's not fun or interesting to watch. It wasn't cute when he told Katya she was addicted to her anxiety and it isn't cute now. Aquaria explaining that she needs to drink to feel less shy and Ru then force-feeding something 'darker' for her? Cracker is not obligated to write some dark monologue about her genuine mental health issues. Someone is not suddenly going to overcome that in an episode or feel comfortable sharing it. Critiquing people for not being hateful enough about themselves? It's just all really in bad taste. A big no.

I get that this all seems a bit dramatic but Drag Race is pretty much *the* show amongst the LGBTQ community. A group of people statistically more likely to have mental health issues. The producers and RuPaul should know their audience better and treat a topic like this far more delicately. It's just really disheartening to watch them get it so wrong.

I think had it been a normal character runway rather than some 13 Reasons Why BS I would have bought it a bit more but everything just felt too uncomfortable and flat for me. It almost was like it exploited some deep secrets that would normally have been some candid moment in any other episode/season. Yes, exposure and awareness are good but there's a limit to these kinds of things and this didn't feel like exposure or awareness.

 

I think this is partially the producers' fault because there isn't that much good drama; Vixen's gone so there's not really a huge antagonizing force. Aquaria is kinda close with her somewhat cocky attitude and Eureka for being Eureka but other than that we're missing that storyline. I do agree that the episode was pretty lackluster overall.

 

Also unpopular opinion but I kinda liked Kameron's Xena: Warrior Princess look!

I will be SO mad if Asia wins, worst winner since Tyra for me. I just get nothing from her, there's a difference between respecting that she is polished and professional, which I do, and caring or being excited her drag which I never am.

 

The preview seemed to suggest

nobody goes home next week so I can see a lipsync for the crown but Aquaria will turn it out I have faith

Asia winning wouldn't be bad per se but if we have to make comparisons then she is equally to Kameron, 1 bar below Eureka and 3 bars below Aquaria!!!

 

The reason why I have that feeling that she might win is because judges give her always way more credit than what she earns!!!

Asia winning would be a non event IMO although I can see it Happening as Ru seems to fan her so much.

 

Aquaria should win IMO as I think she’s bringing something diffferent and has shown throughout the competition she is more than just a runway or looks queen and can do comedy.

 

I can’t see Eureka or Kameron winning

On one hand I really can't see past Aquaria, especially as a sort of "new era" MTV pleasing the new fans kind of winner but I'm getting that increasing niggling feeling that Ru will crown Asia, because more than ever this series seems just be about whoever Ru has a bit of a soft spot for. I think Ru does love Aquaria but she doesn't get the affordances Asia does, having basically been handed two wins, and on the other side of the coin I don't think Ru truly "got" Miz Cracker so she got robbed out of a couple of wins, same with Monet. I know that x or y deserving a win is somewhat objective but it just feels like Ru stans Asia so much and gives her more credit than really she should get whereas say Monique or Miz Cracker got far less. Monique for example had practically no narrative, idk if they just didn't count on her being such a fan fave, but she also got paid dust in the challenges even when she did do really well, and I wasn't necessarily her biggest fan. They seem to have set Asia up on some kind of journey, I suppose similar was true of Aquaria but she was genuinely the best in the Ball and Snatch Game (Eureka did basically match in the latter but I guess she had 2 consecutive wins beforehand), and this week I'd say too.

Definitely, at least for the final I can't see why they couldn't do it. I mean they tape the finale now so they could just have a vote in the week leading up to it. I know that would miss out two weeks of competition (the one just aired and next week) but people have their faves by now anyway. Or they could just do the finale live the week following the broadcast and have the week to vote for the winner, they could even have like "points" as they do on say Strictly where if Aquaria was first in the fan vote out of the 4, she gets 4 points, and then if Ru put her 2nd behind Asia she'd get 3 which means a total of 7.

Lip Sync for your Life was Asia vs Kameron and KAMERON won, Eureka vs Aquaria and EUREKA & AQUARIA won, it was a double chanté. Monet Xchange won Miss Congeniality. Aquaria heavily rumoured to have won, but people are also saying Eureka too. If Eureka has won, I get that she has fans, but she is honestly the most unlikeable queen on Drag Race I've ever seen. I'll be devastated if she's won.

i think the main challenge must have got lost from conception, the idea to have an evil twin could have been left really light hearted & tbh creating 2 looks was more than enough of a challenge for them - they didn't need an in-depth monologue.

 

lena dunham strikes again. she loves eureka.. of course she does. i actually thought kameron's looks were cute, especially her evil twin. and i agree with sending miz cracker home, she wasn't a fave for me in the end. she looked like she was in a store bought cavegirl outfit.

eureka literally had a t-shirt, cardigan & two piece suit on what the eff. they must be seeing something we can't cause she should have been bottom 2 but she skates on by because she calls herself a fat whale & talks about her 'insecurities'.

ru was wrong about this challenge being perfect for cracker, it was perfect for eureka.. it's a speaking challenge, she can't get enough.

 

aquaria; i was gagged. i am living for her. if she doesn't win this season is a mess (okay, an ever bigger one). asia is cute but she has an air of arrogance around her which i don't like. she critiques the others like she's michelle visage. her evil twin look was fly, i'll admit.. but her good twin was same old.
