Guys, do we know if they did Holler at the Brits 2000 before OR after Say You'll Be There?

Was just watching it and couldn't quite picture where it would go. I would imagine it was before Goodbye lol but certainly the videos on YouTube cut so much of it off, I can't quite make my mind up...

Did we ever find out?

to get dissapointed.... :drama:

Well girlies, according to T*e S*n -_- (im not linking to that trash website) it appears that movements are afoot to make a new Spice World The Sequel Movie

It is all Geri's idea and she is pushing for it. The Mels and Flawless are up for it but Vicky Bex hasn't yet committed to it. They have asked someone to work on the script so far..

Honestly? I would love that, but I dont think it will ever happen. I would be pretty damn surprised...

It sounds to me more like The Sun is starting the rumours of the group yet again specially as celebrations of the 25th anniversary are happening soon, and they want to capitalise on that.

What do you all think? :P

If this ends up being true I would be completely shocked!

Honestly, I'm not sure if I could picture a new movie working. I struggle to imagine it having the same sort of charm as the first movie had, when they were still so young and freshly famous during the backdrop of the 90s.

I think out of all the different things the Spice Girls could do together, a new movie would have the most potential to open themselves up to receiving heavy criticism/jibes. Considering that they all seem so tentative about doing anything that could damage their legacy (new music <_< ) I would be so surprised if they're seriously considering a movie.

Taking 2 - 3 months out of their schedule to shoot a movie? They can't even commit to a proper world tour haha

Yeah, I am not buying it either, unless they are fully 100% committed to the band, this time...

It's such a massive thing and if it would end up being like a cheaper version of that horrible Ab Fab movie (cos we know it would...), it would be actually really dissapointing

And I dont see them doing a serious movie either lol I would actually prefer a movie *about them* and they could even cameo somehow :coffee:

I agree about the charm, freshness and 90sness.

I did however think they were really funny in the Live Nation tour announcement clip and the 2019 walkers ad so I do feel they still have it.

That’s true to be fair! I suppose it really would come down to how strong the script is & them connecting well with it. My worry would be that a short skit like the tour announcement/Walkers is easier to get right than a 100 minute movie, maybe. Like Mr.X says it could fall short and end up mediocre like Ab Fab.

Though as Sideout rightly says, the chances of this seem sooo unlikely when they always demonstrate they’re unable to commit to a project for too long 🤭

Let's be honest, a Spice World 2 would bomb financially. Spice World perfectly captures the Spice Girls at their peak. You can't recapture that magic with a sequel 25 years later.

I can't say I keep up with British tabloids...but doesn't The Sun just make up stuff about them constantly? Clearly, they wouldn't be setting a second movie into motion when they're still attempting to get this animated film off the ground. I'm 95% sure the animated film will never get made either, but at least we do know there's a confirmed effort to do that one.

And I feel like The Sun wrote this article with a very 90s understanding of the group. Geri's been occasionally uncomfortable in the spotlight for a while now. She wouldn't be the one to spearhead a project like this. If I were making up an article from thin air (which is what I think The Sun did), I would claim Mel B was behind it.

All that said, I do wish the girls as a group would do a fun cameo in a film like Wilson Phillips in Bridesmaids or the Backstreet Boys in This is The End.

Yeah, I'm willing to be it's about the animated movie if there's any truth to what The Sun are writing and they didn't just make something up, because you know The Sun.

It's a great idea if done right. The brilliance of the first movie was they were openly making fun of themselves and taking nothing seriously, as has been said with the SW19 tour announcement video that is what they do best.

I've always thought SW2 the plot writes itself. The 5 of them come together for a reunion show and play into all the tropes the papers write about them. Mel B desperate for it as she's living in a mansion but off beans on toast as she's skint. Mel C reluctant because of her solo career and she's playing to a festival where only sheep in the field turn up. Geri's husband is desperate for her to do it to stop her baking. Emma is pure angel and can do no wrong.

They all eventually agree, Victoria last as she has been allowed to design the outfits. The argue, fight, fall out over costumes, set list, choreography and everything in between. It all comes to a head the last day of rehearsals where they fall out and all storm off but all end up back at the recording studio they recorded Wannabe the night before the show and reminisce and reconnect over old times and put on the show of a life time the next night.

A similar plot to the first just 25 years later.

That's where 2022 would help them massively. This could be a streaming and cinema release or just streaming. Who knows these days how well films do on streaming services it's all kept so secret

A netflix movie would work and wouldnt face the same scrutiny of box office success to be honest!!
I would rather them use those 2 or 3 months to record a new album than make a unnecessary sequel. A sequel would be too much of a financial risk. Shooting a movie is not cheap.
