Thats the same critic that got Mel B in to #3 as the best girl band member ever behind Beyonce and Mutya Buena, although it is always shady how the UK critics talk about their music, urgh...

Also Stop should have been at least Top10 in that article, not #68...

While I can understand it not being too 10 I feel like it should be the highest girl band #2 above Girls Aloud and Destiny’s Child ones.

I did oooh a little at the Sugababes shade but then thought hmmm they only have get sexy so makes sense lol.

There's still a huge stigma around the group. Most still think they were a manufactured group that Simon Fuller created and branded. When the group is being mentioned, most are always quick to speak about their brand of girl power, their imagery and personalities. The music normally is the last thing mentioned.

These latest anniversary editions didn't do anything to disprove that stigma. Where was the track by track commentary where they discussed their creative process?

For Spice 25? On Apple Music & iTunes.

That is so lovely. They may even be better than anything we got for SpiceWorld 25.

They have certainly had a lot of love put into them.

A track by track commentary from the girls? I don't see anything.

In the iTunes Review section of Spice 25 there's a text interview with Melanie C who discusses all the songs. But actual audio of them all discussing the tracks together would have been so good. A pity that stuff like that is seemingly too much effort.

Omg all my prayers have been answered they have sorted out the Youtube playlists finally!

The music videos one includes all the videos now, the live one includes all the live vids and not randomly the Holler music video and the random Spiceworld one with 3 videos has been deleted. It looks so much more professional now.

If only they could sort the Spotify out next. Update This is playlist with just group songs, Feed your love, Step to me, How does it feel should all be on there as well as the Viva forever remix, SYBT mix and Wannabe demo. Some of the singles like Viva Forever should be replaced by the shorter more streaming friendly radio edits that are on the GH too.

Yeah the YouTube account got a proper look in this time and it is nice to see  I wish tehy would update the thumbnails of the new videos though. The Move Over one could be better and they could have the graphics the other official and live videos have too, for consistency.

Personally, I think on Spotify they need to update their official playlists, but I do think that demos and bsides at least should go to the SongBook playlist instead of the This Is Spice Girls one which should hold all the group singles and some key album tracks only.

That SongBook playlist is awful because it has little to do with the group, it is just solo music. So a mix of solos, demos and bsides in there could work like a sort of 'other music' playlist which I think would be best. And maybe rename it to something else like Extra Spice or something like that :teresa:

How beautiful is this?

The website revamp continues, the music section now has the name of the album going across the screen behind the album cover and Spice, Spiceworld, Forever and the GH have galleries at the bottom of them under the tracklisting.

I don't know if I mentioned but before the 'live' sectioned leaked then was pulled there was also a bio section/page for each girl too that is now hidden that covers each girls whole careers. Emma's mentioned her xmas shows and Mel C's her autobiography. I assume they will be added at some point too.

Watch them scam us all and put all their solo albums and videos on there too :teresa:

How cute

ALSO I never knew the Aprilia bikes actually were sold in many countries throughout 2018. It was a campaign launched when Geri was still in the group, and they carried on promotion after she left, as evidenced by the 4-piece picture in Miami with the motorbikes.

It seems quite harsh the group lost to Aprilia in court, since clearly Geri was still there, attended quite a bit of promo activities (adverts, launch events in Italy, Spain and France, etc.) and then left the group abruptly. Even if they were expecting her to leave in September, she clearly left them in the shit and caught them unaware in July. But the promo for the deal carried on by the other four.

So unless Aprilia really had something of avidence to wrong-doing from the group, it seems quite harsh that the court would side with the company. AT BEST, the fault lies with Gerita, unless there are other details we don't know.

Am I reading too much into this?

^one of the points I'm stuck on to this day is how they apparently thought Geri was going to leave in Fall 1998. Where did that come from? Didn't they already start working on album #3 ? Geri was involved in the initial writing of Goodbye so I've never understood why they expected her to leave. Unless I missed something of course. I remember there was a news story on Canadian radio in late '98 (I recorded it on cassette - don't judge me) where they said that Geri's vocals had been removed from all of the tracks that they had laid down at the time for album #3.
Geri wrote in her book that she told the girls way early (March or April) that she was gonna leave after Wembley but I think it just took the turn for the worst for her. The other four girls were planning to continue as a band and also do solo so they grew closer and Geri was kinda left out on her own by then. In which, I think it just led to her leaving earlier than she planned because it became too awkward for her to continue. Of course, she left without telling the girls and I think they decided to continue because otherwise to prove that they can continue without her and also that they could fulfill all the obligations they signed up for (to avoid potential lawsuits - they still got sued by Aprilla in the end when Geri admitted that she told the girls her intention beforehand).
Emma said when she was interviewed on her opinion on Look At Me video and she said that she couldn’t watch it because Geri was trying to break the band when she left. I think that’s probably how the girls felt at the time.

In relation to Goodbye, the way I've interpreted Geri's comments is that she didn't actually work on/contribute to the song...but she did hear an early version of it that Biff/Matt Rowe had worked up while she was still in the group. I've always thought the group was involved in different capacities on different songs. For example, some of the girls have been open about making more contributions to Too Much than 2 Become 1. I definitely don't know this, but I'm guessing Matt and Biff had an early version of the chorus, maybe? Like...maybe the melody was coming together...but the final lyrics would come later?

Actually, I always wondered if Geri's claim that she'd heard a version of the song before she left was meant as a dig at the other girls. Like she was uncovering that they weren't always involved in the creation of the songs from the ground up.

There have always been rumors that the five-piece started some album #3 work in early 1998, but I'm not sure I'm convinced of that. I can believe they spent some time in studio for something...but do we *really* know that was material for a SpiceWorld follow-up? Frankly, if they did some time in studio, it should have been to come up with b-sides for Stop and Viva Forever. I wouldn't trust the story from Canadian radio. There were a ton of rumors flying around at that time.
