Posted November 13, 20177 yr eQGU-vdXoVE '2 Hearts' seems to have most fans divided. Some love it, some find it okay, some find it just doesn't work. If you could choose any other X song to replace '2 Hearts' as lead single, which would you have chosen?
November 13, 20177 yr Like a Drug or The One. Like a Drug received my vote. 2 Hearts was not the correct lead single.
November 13, 20177 yr Love 2 Hearts, omly Get Ou Of My Way would have made a better lead. Wiw was ok too, but not lead.
November 14, 20177 yr The one should have been the lead single followed by like a drug. I liked two hearts but it wasn’t a strong choice for lead single.
November 14, 20177 yr Even I dislike WOW, I think it would have been a good comeback single for her. It sounds Kylie but kinda fresh.
November 14, 20177 yr Author I love '2 Hearts' and personally think it was a great comeback. If I had to choose another though, it would be 'The One'. I imagine it would have been much better received and been a bigger commercial success - it's the sort of glittery dance-pop music that fans would have gone mad for if this dropped as her comeback, particularly after the success of 'I Believe in You', and it's proved to be a fan favourite since, too. It's got a wintery tone to it as well; I think it could have really suited the November release.
November 16, 20177 yr The One, Wow, Like A Drug would have all made better lead singles than 2 Hearts.
November 16, 20177 yr the one is a proper jam 2 heats is so forgettable i didn’t even remember how it went til i youtubed it coulda been a big comeback this era shame
November 17, 20177 yr Over time, I've came around to the idea it probably should have been 'The One'. '2 Hearts' should have simply remained an album track.
December 23, 20177 yr I really like 2 Hearts and really liked it at the time together with its iconic video with the swinging microphone, don't know why there is so much dislike of it here!
December 24, 20177 yr Author Surprised 'Like a Drug' didn't get more votes; I recall the times before that this discussion has come up that 'Like a Drug' and 'The One' were the two that were most preferred to be lead single. I can see why 'Wow' would have made a strong lead single but I've always been happy with that being single #2 tbh.
December 29, 20177 yr Answer to first question...'The One' of course should have been the lead for this project, it would have been a massive hit instead of it being bumped to single #4 with only a digital release and a crappy music video. That was a total injustice to a song this magnificent and honestly could have given her 8th and final UK #1 single. I also think that 'White Diamond' got wrongly shafted and that should have at least made the album, or maybe make her big comeback single a double a-side 'The One/White Diamond', now that would have been awesome. This is what I think this era should have went = Single #1 = 'The One/White Diamond' (or maybe just 'TO', which could have worked just as well) Single #2 = 'Like A Drug' Single #3 = 'Wow' Single #4 = 'In My Arms' For the American Market = 'Speakerphone', 'Like A Drug' & 'In My Arms'. Answer to the 2nd question is No, I do not think that '2 Hearts' was a good lead single at all, because firstly it doesn't represent the album at all and secondly it doesn't have that wow factor like some of the other tracks do. I think maybe this should have been a promo release only. Edited December 29, 20177 yr by SamJudd
December 31, 20177 yr Author A run of 'The One', 'Like a Drug', 'Wow' and 'In My Arms' does seem pretty solid and like it would please the most amount of people. I do wonder what the team think about '2 Hearts' and its release as lead single now. Clearly they thought it had a killer comeback sound about it at the time.
January 11, 20187 yr The One would have likely been a semi big #1 for her I feel. That said, I love 2 Hearts and think its one of her best, it was a good idea to release something people didn't expect but I guess the public wanted something more "Kylie"
January 11, 20187 yr Author The One would have likely been a semi big #1 for her I feel. That said, I love 2 Hearts and think its one of her best, it was a good idea to release something people didn't expect but I guess the public wanted something more "Kylie" This is my sentiment exactly. I personally think '2 Hearts' showed that X was an era where she was going to take chances and experiment with sounds and styles more; very much a "I've still got more to give and will not be beaten" type of attitude. Plus it's a genuinely great song.
