December 1, 20177 yr Cola & Believer don’t deserve to be here :o Neither does Castle on the Hill in terms of quality, most people hate it because of how overplayed it was/is
December 1, 20177 yr Most of the songs I voted for are out already then! Seems hip-hop will be taking the biggest hit this year.
December 1, 20177 yr Surely if you're going to hate Cola for anything, it'd be the potential "U.O.E.N.O."-like lyrics in the chorus.
December 1, 20177 yr Author I don't think the lyrics are about date rape, suppose it could be interpreted that way but the lyrics don't mention anything about taking her home like 'UOENO'.
December 1, 20177 yr Yeah it's not directly implied, but it's so unclear that it stops me from wanting to root for the song personally.
December 1, 20177 yr Glad to see all of the Katy songs, 'Castle On The Hill' and 'Cola' being pretty low down. None of them had any business being on here. If any of the Katy hits of the year should have been here it was 'Feels' lol ~ and even after overplay 'Castle On The Hill' is among my favourite songs of the year and my 2nd favourite Ed Sheeran single (after 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You'). Surely if you're going to hate Cola for anything, it'd be the potential "U.O.E.N.O."-like lyrics in the chorus. Not gonna lie, the lyrics of 'Cola' are a bit eyebrow-raising. But they're never mentioned at all in reviews / when the song is played on the radio etc. so I guess everyone is just ignoring that.
December 1, 20177 yr Cola and Castle On The Hill are great hits. The Katy songs are pretty good too. Believer is okay
December 1, 20177 yr Cola really didn't deserve to be here :( At least it's low, and that all the trap crew are still in the running :D
December 2, 20177 yr Errr no at Ed Sheeran's worst song of the year by far being the first out :hand: Cola is still hideous, a tarnish of the Dance genre this year.
December 21, 20177 yr Author We're back. L3wKzyIN1yk all commentaries in this post are by Ultra 35. Maroon 5 feat. SZA - What Lovers Do 23-24-25-18-18-12-12-12-15-13-15-22-28-54-... (14 weeks) 56 points This is a bit of a bop and probably the best thing (bar Help Me Out) that Maroon 5 have done in a while but I just cannot stand Adam's voice one bit, it grates on me so much and he once again ruins the song. 34. Rag'n'Bone Man - Human 11-8-5-2-3-2-3-3-5-7-5-2-3-4-16-14-20-16-20-19-22-31-29-33-36-41-42-43-46-47-43-57-62-63-66-75-x (36 weeks) 60 points I'm shocked and disappointed this isn't way higher than 34th, I thought this would actually be a top 10 contender here! I utterly hate this and it's so overplayed that I'm beyond sick of it. I cannot stand his voice and this is just one of those songs that is totally not for me, idg how it's been such a massive hit. 33. Machine Gun Kelly feat. Camila Cabello - Bad Things 52-23-16-17-18-21-24-33-50-67-x (10 weeks) 71 points I don't love this but I wouldn't have this in the hatechart either! It's just so 2012ish that it just feels out of place in today's landscape, I feel I would've loved this if it was released 5 years earlier :kink: Camila's chorus is really good and I also find MGK quite underrated so this is a solid song. Though MGK's collab with Hailee>>>>>.this, that deserved to smash :( 32. XXXTENTACION - Jocelyn Flores 56-62-42-39-40-41-43-42-61-71-x (10 weeks) 72 points Trash. He's one of those artists that I really struggle to separate the art from the artist. This song is dreadful anyway and as of my latest knowledge, he's now in prison. 31. Drake - Blem 14-10-19-30-37-41-46-47-57-63-72-x (11 weeks) 72 points (more voters) One of the many beige tracks Drake released this year and I lowkey forget Drake actually released a 'playlist' this year  This is just more rubbish and I'm glad icr how it rly goes!
December 21, 20177 yr Glad Human isn't any higher, it's one of very few alternative tracks to grace our Top 40 this year!
December 21, 20177 yr Not gonna lie, the lyrics of 'Cola' are a bit eyebrow-raising. But they're never mentioned at all in reviews / when the song is played on the radio etc. so I guess everyone is just ignoring that. Indeed it is eyebrow raising and I am not sure whether its right to discuss this subject matter in a song, but I suppose its a very dark song both lyrically and musically though, and the lyrics do fit with the brooding music. I don't love this but I wouldn't have this in the hatechart either! It's just so 2012ish that it just feels out of place in today's landscape, I feel I would've loved this if it was released 5 years earlier 'Bad Things' does sound so out of place, although I would say more 2010 than 2012 reminscent as it does have a similar sort of structure as Airplanes/Love The Way You Lie with the male rap in the verses and then the sung female vocal in the chorus. Edited December 21, 20177 yr by ❄The Snow.
December 21, 20177 yr I like What Lovers Do, but especially Human. Bad Things and Jocelyn are okay-ish. Blem, I haven't heard.
December 21, 20177 yr how can Human be bad, it's reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal music amirite (it sucks especially the lyrics)
December 23, 20177 yr Author UceaB4D0jpo all commentaries in this post are by Dan 30. DJ Khaled feat. Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper & Lil Wayne - I'm the One 1-2-2-2-2-3-7-9-7-11-12-12-23-26-28-33-39-48-64-66-75-x (21 weeks) 74 points DJ Khaled and his posse gave him the UK break that had evaded him for years whilst racking up the US hits, having only previously made the chart once before with 'For Free' going to #25. Now I really like this song but with three rap verses it does go on a bit longer than it really needs to. I'm sure the people voting for this are only jealous that they can't get a #1 hit by just shouting their name all over the track (and I suppose doing the production too). 29. Digital Farm Animals feat. Hailee Steinfeld - Digital Love DNC 78 points Surprised this song has enough vocal haters here as it wasn't a hit of any size anywhere, but it is quite poor to be fair. With lyrics such as 'I swipe right cos I see just what I like' and a generic Chainsmokers esque structure and breakdown, it really wasn't one of the year's finest moments in dance music. 28. Imagine Dragons - Thunder 68-x(3)-49-47-49-38-36-26-21-24-20-54-56-58-62-75-x (15 weeks) 79 points They really did go overboard with the vocal pitching effect on this didn't they? 27. Post Malone feat. 21 Savage - Rockstar 5-2-1-1-1-1-2-2-3-8-12-17-20-25-... (14 weeks so far) 81 points Well it's a big rap hit so of course Buzzjack are silly enough to hate it. I'm glad this isn't a lot higher though, it's one of my faves to come out of the current hip-hop scene. 26. Fall Out Boy - Young and Menace 67-x (1 week) 82 points What the shit is this? Seriously, what happened to this band? I suppose it's not as messy as 'American Beauty/American Psycho', but it's still something that never should have happened.
