80. Lushington - You Got Me Baby

Next up we have a song that originally charted quite far back into 2016 but didn't quite crack the Year-End Top 100. It then experienced a rare second wave, peaking where it had originally but with a bit more longevity this time round. It's an outstanding house banger that really should have achieved some sort of commercial success.

79. Sage The Gemini - Reverse

US rapper Sage did manage a relatively successful UK hit in 2017 however with the pretty poor 'Now And Later'. I wasn't then expecting much from a further release but boy was I proved wrong! An irresistible urban jam, it made up an all urban top #2 midway through the year along with Yungen's 'Bestie'. Why couldn't this be the track that earned him a rare forage in the UK Charts?

Another 2016 carryover now, although only losing 2 of its weeks, is this infectious dance tune from Swedish artist Jackie Tech. I may well have ultimately discovered this through my multitude of Youtube playlists I follow however this was accelerated via its inclusion in the last BJSC of 2016. A pretty batshit crazy drop most certainly doesn't affect my enjoyment of this track. Also worth pointing out this is a rare example of a song where I prefer the original to the Filatov & Karas remix!

77. Just Us - Cloudbusting

One of the generally more lauded dance reworkings of the year came courtesy of US dance duo Just Us who manufactured an extremely well-made version of Kate Bush's original. The vocals don't stray away a million miles from the authentic edition & we were treated to some pretty strong synth-house to boot. Another track that hinted at some crossover success yet sadly it was not to be.

76. Stormzy (feat. MNEK) - Blinded By Your Grace Pt. 2

The first appearance of a song very much still in its chart infancy is perhaps surprisingly Stormzy's sole entry in the top 100. Originally charting for 3 weeks on the back of its album's release it re-entered some 30 weeks later off the back of its single announcement & accompanying X Factor performance, this time cracking the top 10. It's a wonderful, gospel-inspired ballad which quite possibly raised a few eyebrows on those who had only known his in-your-face style singles preceding and the addition of one of my favourite vocalists around right now in MNEK was never going to do it any harm. Speaking of which said artist who achieved the #2 spot on the countdown last year has only this representing him this time round!

And we are a quarter down :cheer:

True Feeling  it did manage number 1 for me, but, like you I got tired of it very quickly

You Got Me Baby is a tune too

Cloudbusting will appear very high on my chart!

also love You Got Me Baby.

Yes I expect that will feature right up near the top!

Just didn't have that replayability factor like most of theirs normally do!

75. Freischwimmer (feat. Polina) – Waiting for You (Club Mix)

As a vocalist on dance tracks Polina is quite highly rated on here but this was the first real song of hers I fully clicked with. It's a really great track, from German DJ & producer Freischwimmer and here's the most surprising thing... the string-filled original is actually not the version I charted! Instead rather this faster-paced club remix.

Well, this turned out to be quite the surprise tune didn't it? I really like the playful bassline evident throughout this track and it ended up being my second fave 1D solo debut after ZAYN's 'Pillowtalk'. Nothing else since released from Liam has been quite as good but I did feel this Sheeran-like sound worked pretty well for him starting off.

Having just mentioned Polina, here's a similar story with another vocalist. Jasmine Thompson has lent her vocals to a fair few dance tracks already at her tender age but this by far eclipses anything she'd worked on up to that point. A really catchy tropical house track with added pipes (that's always a good thing) & 2 strong vocal contributions (although I can give or take the rap). Now, the question I wanna know is, why are there a billion remixes on Spotify of this yet not the actual original mix?

There seems to be a theme developing here, let's add ALMA to the list of artists I didn't particularly rate before one specific song and this one is hers. Taking a full 3 months after my initial listen to eventually crack the Chart it wasted no time climbing to the upper reaches, perhaps aided by its overexposure in Berlin whilst I was away for a weekend. Either way, was great to see this mould into an expected UK hit!

71. Lia Rox - Hound (Bimbo Jones Vocal Club Mix)

I have absolutely no idea what happened to the YT version of the Bimbo Jones mix as it was there as recently as last week but never mind, you'll have to hit Spotify if you haven't heard it yet but here's the original which isn't quite as good it's safe to say. The remix was one of many tracks I discovered through various curated playlists & was eventually chosen to represent us at the historic 100th BJSC where it... qualified at least. I did really love this for about a month but it dropped off a cliff after that.

I do love Swish Swish but that video is horrid. Easily the worst music video of 2017.

I Feel It Coming is great. Although it was more of a 2016 song to me.

Wall Of Glass is better than I was expecting from Liam. Although For What It's Worth is 100x better.

I did really like Know No Better at the time but I've already kinda forgot it

Blinded By Your Grace, Pt. 2 is brill but is still one of my least faves from the album.

Strip That Down is my fave ex-1D member song!

Hiya Dobbo!!

Forgot all about Cloudbusting but I really loved it at the start of the year. Plus, it made me go back and discover the original Kate Bush original so I have it to thank for that too. Although, to be quite honest, I do think I prefer the Just Us version

Not the biggest fan of Strip That Down though, repeated listens helped it grow on me a bit but it's a bit too cheesy for me and I preferred Harry's and Niall's solo stuff from this year much more. At least it was a lot better than the dreadful Bedroom Floor which was still to come :/

Blinded By Your Grace  Love the fact a song like that can still be a massive hit!

Agree the Hound remix is WAY better, really catchy and grew on me during the contest :D

Now, the question I wanna know is, why are there a billion remixes on Spotify of this yet not the actual original mix?
Is this not the original mix? It has 94m streams too.

Never got into it myself.

Hi Dobbo! A bit late but I'm gonna echo Josh's comment on 'I Feel It Coming', the Weeknd's best ever for me too and I'm glad it got a proper video in the end. 'Jungle' was definitely a nice surprise from Dobago, I knew it prior to BJSC but never would've guessed it was your entry! I'll be looking for 'Push Bang Bang' and 'Love's Just A Feeling' in here as well.

Other faves so far: Blinded By Your Grace, Know No Better, and Chasing Highs

Love Steady 1234, it sounded like a hit so I wish it took off
Cloudbusting is one of the huge surprises of the year for me, I normally can't sand anyone covering or re-working Kate Bush and it's one of her absolute best for me, but it's such a banger <3
